AndyKurosaki
Yeah I’m not bothered either. Just getting through the game was an ordeal in itself.
Maf
I was actually thinking about playing the Final Draft mode after Persona, so coincidence I saw this on the same day. The only thing that makes me hesitant is their track record for DLC. I didn’t think AW1 or the Control DLC were especially good.
one-armed dwarf
Final draft mode doesn't change much I think. I think the whole idea there is it's just a recursive story that they'd like you to play more than once. If the DLC is consequential then maybe I'll do that. Maf
Something happening Friday. DLC drop?
Nag
I've zero interest in returning to this... the main game was a big enough disappointment so I'm happy to steer clear.
one-armed dwarf
In contrast to nag's post I think AW2 is one of my fave games ever. But I think I want to wait for both DLCs to release and do a nightmare mode playthrough with everything together
Maf
And I’m somewhere in between. As a game it’s eh, it’s ok. But I love all the silly genre pulp. What’s a word for something that’s both pretentious but clowning at the same time?
one-armed dwarf
'Postmodern' But actually, that is the real answer to that
one-armed dwarf
Stole from resetera Quote Put yourself in the shoes of the Number One Fan, who bears a striking resemblance to the waitress Rose Marigold, and fight the shadows in pursuit of truth and love with your trusty shotgun by your side. As the Actor, who may be called "Shawn Ashmore" in some realities and "Sheriff Timothy Breaker" in others, you will take on the mantle of the Time Breaker and defeat the villain hunting for you. And in the North Star episode, unravel coffee-based secrets and cosmic caffeine mysteries as the Sibling, who may seem familiar to those who know Jesse Faden, director of the Federal Bureau of Control. In Night Springs, players will fight and puzzle their way through familiar, yet transformed locations. Expect more dream logic, twists and turns that only a sci-fi adventure written by Alan Wake can provide, and even more experimenting with different types of media, like a playable arcade game and a comic book. Trophy hunters and completionists can look forward to 12 new challenges in Night Springs. Share your progress with us on social media using the #NightSprings hashtag! Night Springs will be available with the Alan Wake 2 Expansion Pass, which is included in both the digital Deluxe Edition and the upcoming physical Deluxe and Collector's Editions of Alan Wake 2. PlayStation players who would like to pre-order either of the physical editions can do so starting June 8. If you own the digital Standard Edition, you have the option to upgrade to the Deluxe Edition to access the expansions. Night Springs is, however, not the end. The Lake House, the second and final expansion to Alan Wake 2, tells the story of a mysterious government facility on the shores of Cauldron Lake, and the time the secret research conducted there went terribly, terribly wrong. Look forward to the Lake House expansion later this year! https://blog.playstation.com/2024/06/07/new-alan-wake-2-night-springs-expansion-launches-june-8-first-details/ Wonder if it takes place outside the main game or not, does it launch as a separate save. I don't really like multiverse stuff, Everything Everywhere was pretty good but it used it as a framework for something else. In AW tho the multiverse stuff is a very light touch I suppose. They just described it in a way that sounded like that Marvel 'What If' show on stage tho
Maf
The deluxe edition upgrade to get all the DLC is currently £12 on Epic, unsure if it includes all new 3 scenarios. Might just wait for people to buy it and the details be clearer Quote Alan Wake 2 Deluxe Upgrade Alan Wake 2 Deluxe Upgrade includes: Expansion Pass Night Springs Expansion (additional story content)** Lake House Expansion (additional story content)** Nordic Shotgun Skin for Saga Crimson Windbreaker for Saga Celebrity Suit for Alan Parliament Shotgun Skin for Alan Lantern Charm for Saga*** ** Additional story content available post-launch, more to be unveiled later. *** Gives Saga an additional battery for the flashlight. Maryokutai
The trailer says Night Springs is exclusive to the Deluxe Edition, which is just a very convoluted way to say they're only selling their DLCs in a bundle I presume. Edit: I just saw that it literally says in your quote that it includes Night Springs.
one-armed dwarf
The physical edition requires a download, so if you're hoping to get that for preservation purposes, it won't do that for you https://www.alanwake.com/story/alan-wake-2-faq/ The only explanation I can come up with is that they are using smaller size blu rays or something, but I have no idea
Maryokutai
Completely defeats the purpose then. Insert 'you had one job' meme. Edit: the game is 90-something GB on Xbox, so two discs on Xbox and a dual-layer on PS5 would have done the trick.

one-armed dwarf
It seems there was a mix up but the main game will be on the disc after all, or that is the plan anyway (remedy director posted here). However that is wrt PS5, they aren't sure of Xbox yet due to the smaller discs https://www.resetera.com/threads/alan-wake-ii-physical-editions-now-available-for-preorder-releasing-this-fall-79-99-199-99-up2-base-game-night-springs-on-disc.893535/post-124143357 Honestly based on episode 1 of the DLC it feels very inessential, something you wouldn't necessarily miss if servers were shut down
Maf
https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/alan-wake-2-deluxe-edition-ps5-pre-order-4356602 At first I thought £60 for a year old game was a bit of a piss take just because it’s now in a box. But the physical deluxe version comes with all the DLC and Alan Wake Remastered. That’s actually quite a good deal at that point
Maf
The teaser for the DLC This looks like much more full on horror than the main game. I hope they don’t lose the fun in it
one-armed dwarf
The previous DLC was a pile of shit. I have the season pass so I'll try this but all the Remedy DLC I've tried has been a miss for me, between AW2 and Control. Still, I liked that they optionally integrate the DLC into the main campaign and I wonder how this will work in that regard
Maf
I got the last DLc but not tried it. I still want to do a second run so will wait for this and maybe give the whole thing a go from start to finish
