Bob Posted August 28, 2013 Share Posted August 28, 2013 Ratchet and Clank 2 HD Saints Row: The Third Thomas Was Alone Ratchet and Clank 3 HD It was really nice going back to R&C. I think the only game I have ever completed more times than R&C2 is Metal Gear Solid. I really bled that game dry when I bought it back on the PS2 and did all sorts of silly things like completing it under an hour and completing it without getting hit. So it was really fun to go back without any upgraded weapons and just take my time. Still a lot of fun, although the game doesn't constantly ask you to spend most of your bolts to acquire things like planet locations or gadgets you need to get into certain areas. The third game is also still really good. Saints Row was completed with my wife and it was a lot of fun in co-op. Completed it on my own the first time through and it was a lot of fun then, it just didn't have all the hilarious bugs that come from playing a Saints Row game online. Thomas Was Alone I thought was excellent. The gameplay wasn't amazing or anything but I felt like most of it was just there to tell the story and build the relationships between the blocks. How the guy making it managed to fit so much personality into quadrilaterals is anyone's guess but I really felt connected to the story and characters. Top stuff. Manicm Posted August 31, 2013 Share Posted August 31, 2013 I have completed some games this year, but don't think ive posted them in here...hhhmm Ah well, had a week off this week so completed Tomb Raider PS3, its very much like Uncharted but loved it all the way through except the almost last boss, really annoyed me at one point. But on the whole hope they do a proper sequel based on this game, it felt batmanny in places as well. Right off to complete some more games and not post about them. I started this at the start of the year and then had to take a break because the save data was in Australia but now it is here and I have finished it. Because there was a six month break I had honestly forgotten most of what had happened but it all turned out for the best in the end so that will do. Bob Posted September 14, 2013 Share Posted September 14, 2013 Devil May Cry This was ace. I have never really been that bothered about DMC. I played the first one back when it came out but since then have been all like, "pfft, whatevs." But anyway, this was brilliant. Sometimes hilarious, nearly always something immensely cool happening on screen, it was a real joy to play. I liked Dante, he seemed like a fairly regular guy and his response of, "fuck you" to almost every situation was realistically witless. Will definitely be playing this again at some point. Far Cry: Blood Dragon This was ace. Didn't really get on with Far Cry 3, thought it was all a bit average. This was awesome and ridiculous and felt like it had been made especially for me. I enjoyed the focus on action a lot more and the voice acting was really fun. Full of rusty cum buckets though. Walking Dead: 400 Days This wasn't ace. I was quite unimpressed actually. Compared to the main series this seemed very basic and the choices were comically grim. Nothing felt like it had any consequences. The game just dumps you into this new character and after 10 minutes you have to decide if someone dies. These were always the most memorable bits in the main series but without the character development to back it up, they are just pointless displays of violence. Early on we actually laughed, this sort of game shouldn't illicit laughter. Lego Batman 2 This was pretty ace. It is Lego so you know the score. Only problem I really had with it is that too much felt like it was locked away in each level for free play mode. Because of that though Free Play mode is like a whole new set of puzzles and stuff. Good fun. Arkham City: Harley Quinn's Revenge I bought this because it is on sale and every now and then I get in a Batman mood. It was okay. No way is it worth the original asking price but at £3.50 it isn't too bad. Couple of hours tops and takes place in the steel mill, my least favourite location in Arkham. You get to play as Robin, I like Robin. Resident Evil 6 This started off really badly. Then became a lot of fun. Then ended really badly. Jake's campaign was a bit of a mess and Ada's campaign felt like lazy DLC as you run about in previous locations. The co-op for her bit was horrendous as well. I know it was originally SP only but they could have made an effort. Player 2 can't interact with anything at all. So has to wait around for the person controlling Ada to open doors, use her grapple hook and even open loot containers. It had it's moments, I would say at least half of it was a lot of fun. The other half varied between pretty bad and fucking awful. Kudos to Capcom for trying something a bit different though, even if it didn't work. Not without its faults. It still suffers from a lot of missions with really loose design that can become quite tedious which is made more apparent by the heists which are just absolutely fantastic. Another criticism would be that there aren't nearly enough of them. I thought I would be able to plan my own at some point, create a crew and go kick buns but it looks like that will be left for the online. Which is annoying. I will write more about it in the thread probably. Now I am just killing time while the stupidly long credits roll by with all the worst songs from the mediocre radio stations.
