While Square Enix has been steadily releasing Dragon Quest games in Japan, the publisher hasn’t said anything about bringing games like Dragon Quest X to the West. Two trademarks hint that Square Enix or perhaps Nintendo will release more localized Dragon Quest games.

Siliconera dug up trademarks for Luminaries of the Legendary Line and The Seeds of Salvation registered in Japan by Square Enix. These trademarks are in English, which suggest they will be used for a Western release.

Why do we think these are for Dragon Quest? Well, Luminaries of the Legendary Line and The Seeds of Salvation use the same alliteration modern Dragon Quest games use. Take Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen as an example and note the word flow for the subtitle Chapters of the Chosen. All of the other recent Dragon Quest games have the same flow – Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride, Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation, and Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies. Also, all of the recent Dragon Quest games were revealed through trademarks first – including confirmation for Dragon Quest VI after we didn’t hear anything about that game.
Luminaries of the Legendary Line or The Seeds of Salvation, you heard it here first. ;)

Bravel Default: For the Sequel now has a sequel:

This week’s Jump reveals Bravely Second, a sequel to Bravely Default, for 3DS.

Bravely Second is set in the same world as the original game. Players will embark once again on a great adventure of swords and magic.

Jump introduces Magnolia, a new silver-haired character “clad in the moon.”

A release date was not announced.

I suppose we can assume we'll get it eventually.

I got the Miiverse OK, but it' appears to have fucked the eShop totally. It won't update the Plaza either. I'm hoping it's just server load that's causing the problems.

Miiverse is quite nice on 3DS, I'll be giving it a run out tonight seeing what it can do.

Level-5 has trademarked “Yo-Kai Watch” in the United States.

The mark was filed on January 17, and could signal the coming localization of the Japanese 3DS RPG Yokai Watch.

It’s also worth noting Level-5 recently trademarked “Inazuma Eleven” and “Weapon Shop de Omasse” (the latter is a Guild 01 game not yet localized). Perhaps these are Level-5 International America’s latest projects.

Thanks, Siliconera.

Really looking forward to Mario Golf. This preview has me excited.

When you consider the substantial modes on offer, the Castle Club career upon which we're only just embarking, and all of the online aspects yet to spring to life, this promises to be one of the most engrossing time-sinks on 3DS this year. Its quick-play options are fun and will suit a quick play on a morning commute, yes, but there seems to be significant depth to enjoy; we'd also like to think that given time even less confident players will take off the training wheels, switch to manual mode and truly dive in. Ignoring the slightly cautious recommended line of the game, adjusting for wind and attacking the pin with optional backspin is simply a delight when it works; actually, it's satisfying even when it doesn't work as planned. Most notably, we just want to keep playing. The 3DS triumphed in 2013 with a few key experiences that, conceivably, could devour dozens of hours and make time pass in a flash, games both accessible and complex at once.

OutRun launches 23 April on the Japanese eShop. As with the previous '3D Classics', Sega has included some enhancements:

  • The option to save at any point and resume later on
  • Circle Pad, D-pad or touch controls
  • A choice of the Japanese or 'Overseas' version, with different course placements between them
  • Multiple screen size settings, including a moving arcade cabinet style as seen in previous releases such as 3D Super Hang-On
  • A host of audio options, and two brand new songs composed by Manabu Namiki and Jane-Evelyn Nisperos
