Bulletstorm

This is due to be properly announced tonight by Cliffy B along with some other secret game that no-one knows anything about.

Info via GameInformer magazine in the States.

gicover.png

- Characters name is Grayson Hunt

- Ex leader of special black-ops group called Dead Echo, gone rogue after refusing an order

- Game begins 10 years later Grayson now as a Drunken pirate robbing confederate ships

- Only friend is a cyborg named 'Ishi Sato'

- Game is obviously FPS

- Combat system relies on leash, slide, kick

- Leash is a multipurpose tool, kinda looks like the plasma whip the bad guy in Ironman 2 has

- Leash can be used to pull people towards Grayson, or he can kick people foward or slide under them to knock them off their feet which causes a brief moment of localized bullet time leaving the enemy hopelessly floating in front of your gun.

- They are adding skill shots to the game, essentially the more creative the kill the more points your given to spend on offensive and defensive upgrades.

- skill kills examples are shoot a guy in the throat "Gag reflex +50", kick a guy into cactus "Bad Touch +50" shoot a guy in the nuts the blow off his head while he's on his knees "Mercy +100" etc.

- Thumper upgrade for leash lets you slam it into ground sending enemies dozens of feet into the air so you can shoot at em.

- Flail gun shoots 2 grenades attached to a length of chain, which can wrap around people legs to trip them up or wrap around chest to hold arms down. This has a timer that blows it up or you can remotely blow it up, or let it blow up on contact like a grenade launcher.

- Wrap up a dude with flail, kick him into some enemies and them remotely blow them all up.

- Multiplayer yes, but no Co-op. No Co-op cause they don't want to sacrifice story elements and they don't want people stealing you skill shots...

People Can Fly made Painkiller and did the PC port for the first Gears of War.

Published by EA so it's out on PC, PS3 and 360, due next year.

 Great facial expression on that cover, it's like 8-bit era cover art.

Cross-eyed, wonky mouth, eyes too far apart... he looks a bit 'special'.

I'm with you dude, it reeks of 80's game sleeve art that resembles fuck all of the in game action.

Pretty much what we all expected, get into the Gears 3 beta (at least earlier than everyone else) with a special edition copy of Bulletstorm.

How do you get exclusive early access to the Gears of War 3 beta? By buying the Epic Edition of Bulletstorm, Epic Games has announced.

The Epic Edition costs $59.99 Stateside, and will be available with the normal edition on 22nd February there, 25th February here.

There's no word on when the Gears of War 3 beta will begin. Apparently we need to check the back of the Bulletstorm pack for details.

The last we heard, the Gears 3 beta was due to kick off in early 2011.

The Bulletstorm Epic Edition also packs 25,000 bonus experience points, visual upgrades for the game's inventive leash, a Peace Maker Carbine, boots and some armour.

$60 is what normal games sell for in the States though so should be about £45 or so over here.

Glad this video popped up as I really had trouble using any imagination on my run through - all I used was the whip and boot really.

Similar to the 3DS thing, this is why publishers are going nuts over the pre-owned shenanigans:

Reckon you'll be done with Killzone 3 and/or Bulletstorm by 10th March? If yes, GAME can guarantee you a trade-in price of £35, reports MCV.

Consider either title costs £39.99 and that means you lose only £5 for 13 days of play.
