Shin_Seffron
I believe Doom is a game EVERYONE has played, in our school, generation after generation installed it on all the computers so our IT lessons were spent learning how to play a game whilst not getting caught by the teacher
Centy
Doom would be much higher up on my list but good show on Sega Rally Arcade being there i remember that at the arcade when they came to town near my where my folks live awesome game in 2 player. I'll know how good this list is when i see where Grim Fandango, RTCW and Oblivion place. If Gears of War is in the top 10 then i no longer have faith in the universe

Hendo
The SNES one that I've got on the VC, I need to start that up at some point. There's still time for it to be placed, Sam. Though it's highly unlikely at this point.
Sambob
theres a Goemon for the VC?
Centy
Reasonable placement of Grim Fandango, Perfect Dark and Oblivion there also nice to see real old games like Elite scoring fairly high.

Hendo
What do we reckon is in the top 10 then? I'm guessing Super Mario World, Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 64... Have Shadow of the Collossus and Ico gone yet?
retroed
Not yet! They surely all have to be in the top 10, along with Super Mario Bros. and Zelda LTTP. Can't wait to see what's in there!
retroed
10-6,here. 10 Shadow of the Colossus (PS2)9 Ico (PS2) 8 Super Mario Kart (Snes) 7 The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (Snes) 6 Super Mario World (Snes) Fucking yes! All of those but ICO were in my Top Ten. But this means that Halo is ranked above these SNES classics. RE4 will be in the top five somewhere, along with OOT, Mario 64? 5-1 shall be revealed tomorrow. Hendo
Place your bets - OoT or Mario 64 for number one? I couldn't honestly place either of them as my number one of all time. Goldeneye and Sonic are strong possibilities.
DANGERMAN
I know its not all up yet, but the top 10 is looking boring. It's the same games every time. I know that should mean it's reliable but it's not really is it. Up until the top 10 I think its been pretty interesting though
retroed
therealjohnpeat on rllmuk wrote I've said this before and I'll say it again (dance while the record spins!)This was a personal Top 10 list - which we aggregated into a Top 100 for the forum overall - it was NOT an attempt to make a definitive 'best games ever' list and should not be viewed as-such. I've made the argument that if you take all games 'as they were at the time' - then Spacewar, Pong etc. will be top as they were unprecendented - so you can't view things that way. That more people voted for some games than others is just a sign that it was more memorable for some reason or another - it's not a definitive statement that Game A > Game B whatsoever and should not be read that way On the other hand, the Top 10 as it stands pretty much sums up what I love best about gaming, hence most appeared in my personal Top 10. See, he says that but then releases the full list in drips to conclude with the top 5. It's clearly made out that way, but hey ho. I agree with Ben that you see the same games each time, but then they must be percieved as being the best in order for them to get there. I dunno, it's a tough 'un - just enjoy what you enjoy!
