  1. Well here is me trying to be clever by hiding under the platform like every fucker else doing it wrong.
  2. I've just been trying to get past that first boss but fuck it, I'm not enjoying this enough to care, I was liking it at first but its trial and error gameplay isn't as enjoyable as the fluid stuff early on, something that Mirrors Edge mostly managed throughout without feeling like a calk walk. I like the character when he's running at scientists like a monkey while they flee for their bacon but by the time I was on the boss and I couldn't judge the lazer attack for the tenth while it spouted 'special sauce' for fuck knows what reason I'd was pissed off and had no time for its attempts at humour. Not a good start for the XBLA summer for me. I could just be in a bad mood, who knows? maybe I'll try it again in a few months.
  3. Bloody hell, Sly. Sounds complicated but I keep meaning to try the demo, probably will do that soonish, it's just that there are sooo many puzzlers out there on these download services that it can be a slog to try some of them.
  4. Nice, I can play it too. I think my PC could probably run it but I'd likely forget I have it.
  5. Mostly I've been playing The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker this week because I felt like it. I'm glad I did because I just thought it was alright before but I'm digging it more this time, I don't know why exactly, the whole idea of it just clicked. It's not without its faults but I wouldn't mind someone else having a go at a nautical adventure game as its pretty sweet at times. See the thread for details. Sadly enough thats it apart from very brief goes on 'Splosion Man, Skate 2, The Conduit, BF '43 and Rock Band 2. Though I did buy the Wipeout HD DLC today, first impressions are very good and it will definitely be mentioned here next week.
  6. I'm not quite as far as some of you guys, I'm on 1 - 13 I think but it is great. I hope Sonic Team are watching.
  7. I see Riva makes a very good point and there is division in every interest, it's just with gaming being relatively new I worry that some who's first experience is Wii Sports or something are getting put off who could get well into games. I guess they don't though given the examples made here and ones I've seen myself. I thought there would be holes in my theory anyway but its good to get shit out.
  8. I know what you mean about not wanting loads of mainstream games but I don't think that will happen, it's almost discrediting the developers that make games. They got into creating games because they have a passion for it, of course publishers will want something that sells but there will always be creative and interesting games to play especially with the more high profile indie scene we have now thanks to the like of XBLA/PSN/WiiWare.
  9. I've been drinking and thinking but I've come to a conclusion. Gamers travel the internet and sometimes complain that their hobby isn't respected as much as the other medias because of shit mainstream news reporting and the most bollocks science to back it up, which is fair enough. I've been debating a bit about the Wii and mainstream games over at GTM lately and pissing off a member or two in the process but its usually these kind that complain that there hobby is not accepted yet the moment something that captures the masses imagination like the Wii or Halo comes out many gamers are falling over themselves to say how stupid they are. Anyone who has just got into games must walk into most gaming communities and fuck right off again with the attitudes that gamers have, wouldn't it be better if that changed? You browse around and you see cries of how the likes of Okami arn't massive successes and it is great and should be experianced but it is a niche game that will always have limited appeal, expecting Joe Bloggs to think straight away this is the shit just isn't going to happen. Surely having these mainstream games is a good gateway into these other games and if they want to stick CoD4 then fair enough but it might lead them to something else after that, it might be the game that inspires them to get into our interest. I know I'm preaching to the choir here but I worry basically about how vocal against mainstream games gamers are considering they haven't truely broken through yet, it's like cutting off your noes to spite your face. I just rambled but any thoughts? I'm trying one of those discussion threads.
  10. Ha Ha, great. I wish I could contribute but I only ever throw my pad on something soft like a sofa or a bed. I rarely get really annoyed at the computer but when it comes to multiplayer I do swear at people because it is people who piss me off but I'm more of a sulker than a shouter. If I'm playing with a friend they usually ask me if I'm alright when I go quiet... I'm not.. I'm sulking at the stupid game and those cheap cheaters.
  11. When this is flowing in combat it can be the most beautiful game in the world. I never did get past the giant statue when its floating head comes off. I'm still hunting for a copy of Sigma and if anyone knows where you can get it at 'a nice price' (/Resi 4 merchant) it would be appreciated. Or if anyone has one they don't want anymore?
  12. You should try using another controller, maybe you could borrow one or steal a second hand one from work, bring it back the next day of course. Atleast then you'll see where the problem lies, I can't say I've heard of this being a console problem but the 360 is a surprising thing.
  13. There is something that is in pretty much every Zelda game that would make that more bareable, and it's a fishing rod. Why no fishing rod with so much fucking water? I'm going to combine that part of the game with general treasure hunting, shouldn't be as bad then.
  14. I must be halfway through the story now and have most of the sea chart filled in, I've got my Master Sword and I'm on my way to save my Sis. Playing this made me realise how different each Zelda game is, more than the are given credit for. The whole use the item you get in the dungeon thing is still there but the other bits arn't. OoT was any Zelda put into 3D, Majora's Mask brought in the time management and Wind Waker takes place on the high seas which on its own brings a different experiance. I'm getting the sailing this time, maybe its an age thing and sitting back with and looking out for dry land and treasure is bliss sometimes, almost like Animal Crossing but with a bit of swordplay. And some of the characters are a bit more barmy than I remember, the guy that has that mini-game and always holds some card with picture on it and a hole cut out for his face being one. Playing it now has upped it in my opinnion but I dunno about it being my favourite Zelda but it's up there, I could split hairs about which does what better but fuck it.
  15. The Noby Boy one made me smile, I only played it a little and never noticed it, I wouldn't of deleted it if I heard that. I'm surprised to hear you played Zelda with the sound down, a pair of earphones is always part of my handheld gaming experience.
  16. Falcooo!!!! Bump!!!... ... Yeah, so I've read something over at Dtoid about Wind Waker and it was brought up on their podcast about it being the (probably) best Zelda but it's never been one of my favourites, and it isn't because of the graphical style that was suggested the hate came from, I like the graphics. It was more that it felt Zelda-lite and a little uninvolving at the time but I've decided I'm going to re-visit it to see if I was giving it a fair chance. I've just got to Dragon Island or something and it is as sweet as I remember, I really did let out a genuine 'awwwww' when he waved goodbye to his granny. As mentioned that stealth bit was shit but I'm where it really begins and I'm ready.
  17. I worry about some unprofeshional note charts but if a close eye is kept on it this should really expand the DLC. Should be good.

    KOTOR 2

I prefered some of the characters in this one, that Jedi wench especially, some of the stuff she came out with really made you wonder if the light side was really benaficial to the universe. Some genuine manipulation there.
  19. This week saw me playing Rock Band 2 properly with other meatbags, even managing rope in someone a little afraid of the game, even saw them browsing online trying to find a cheap plastic guitar for themselves because more people need to love rhythm action games. I like to play it my own but getting it in that setting is something else, my vocal rendition of Bad Company's Shooting Star was something everyone should have seen. My vocal rendition of Eye of the Tiger is something we've all promised to forget. I've also been part of the surprising popularity of Battlefield: 1943, I thought it was going to be big but not that big, when you look at your friendslist and everyone is playing it you can't help but raise an eyebrow, that sort of thing is usually just for hyped to high heaven, mainstream retail games. It is great though so fair do's, more friendly than it's bigger brothers but still well designed and open enough for different ways of playing, despite the small maps. I don't like that horse shoe map though. Finally I've been sinking some time into The Conduit which is a strange one because while all criticisms aimed at the game are fully justified I still think it's a hard game to reveiw because it doesn't meet the expectations of a modern shooter, its designed with a old-school mentality, which isn't a bad thing per se but it's the sort of thing that lowers scores, so it's not hard to review its just those scores failing to express a review again. Overall I was mildly enjoying it but it goes shockingly hard and its not a game I'd honestly recomend.

    Potter film

Oh shit yeah, this is meant to be about a film. I've seen the first three and to be honest I couldn't give a shit if I didn't see another, they entertained for the duration but then so does Scrap Heap Challenge.

God I miss my hair. And LOL at this thread.
  22. Just reload when you need to then. I've had some good runs as a sniper but it is a bitch to get the hang of, I don't really like the rifleman, your fucked when a vehicle comes so I do find myself as a infantryman most of the time, that class is okay in most situations, with little burst firing they don't have bad range either.
  23. I'm the same to be honest. I liked Symphonia and when this was announced I started to look forward to playing it. I tried the demo of it and I realised I really didn't care for it, not because it was bad, I just didn't feel the need to play it. I think it was playing Persona 3 and 4 back to back which has temporarily killed any interest in JRPG's.
  24. 5 to 7 seconds, something like that. I'm pretty sure the next one is Monday so you don't have to wait that long.
  25. I'm shit with the planes but I can get a few kills with them now since I changed the controls to invert control and southpaw. I see why they made them hard to use because if they wern't they could be over powered, like the choppers on Bad Company. From my experiance on that a good pilot could really swing the tide of battle, it could be the same on this.
