First combat encounter in day 2 and already want to stop playing. I knew dogs were going to be shit, I had not planned how hard this shit was going to be before they threw the dog shit on top. Uggggggggggg. All I want to do is walk around and push triangle on stuff the bit where you play it is very frustrating. EDIT: This is like my 7th restart how are you meant to do this without being seen or hit? I’m so bad at this. Maybe easy mode is the way to go.

The facial animation in this game is amazing except when it’s not. Most of the time it’s good to great but sometimes characters look very strange.

Finally got to Kanto and earned my first gym badge. Spent a lot of hours in Victory Road training up my new team to mid level 40’s. I hadn’t realised until way to late but Gengar and Dragonair still aren’t very good Pokemon in gen 2. Even though gen 2 introduces Shadow Ball and Outrage, Shadow Ball is a physical attack and Outrage is a special attack! So the best things about these Pokemon are still unusable. I researched it and it turns out Pokemon doesn’t start becoming “Modern” in terms of sorting out attacks properly and giving Pokemon good learn sets until gen 4. Also in G/S/C things like elemental punches are all special. Despite the fact that they’re punches. And they got really stingy with Earthquake, the best all round ground type move because they want the player to use Magnitude which is basically Earthquake but damage is dependant on RNG. Playing through this again is really making me review what I think about the series. Gen 2 might be the best adventure because of how big and surprising it is. Gen 3 is kind of bad at everything although it did introduce abilities, which is great. Gen 4 always got credit for being the first Pokemon for online battles but in retrospect it also deserves a lot of credit for finally creating a lot of really good moves and learn sets. It is like the turning point for “Modern” Pokemon. Maybe that’s why Pokemon multiplayer got such a boost in popularity that gen, not just because online was possible but Pokemon finally got good moves to fight with.

Maybe hard mode is different but from the 2 or 3 times I’ve had a human shield the other guys don’t start firing until I fire on them. Also smoke bombs and bricks/bottles are my best friend. I just wish I was using them for tactfully instead of panicky. On Normal supplies are plentiful as well. For maybe 3 hours yesterday I was basically completely full on every ammo and material type. To the point I would find a health pack when I was at 90% health so I would have to use one just to pick up a new one.

I’ve died 4 times so far. It’s not hard in the sense that I die a lot, just every fight is very messy and feels like it’s always falling out of my control. Somehow people always end up behind me, or somehow a Runner always sees me. It’s not tough to win it’s just tough to be good at it, I find. Oh, and I’m playing on Normal.

I don’t know if I like the combat in this just because it’s so hard. It’s not bad by any means it’s just over the top tough. I’m thankful the game just continually throws never ending amounts of ammo and materials my way because if I couldn’t Rambo dudes to death I would be screwed. The human AI is just too smart for me. I’m constantly getting flanked and cornered and shot down. I find they also move really rapidly so as I’m trying to put a plan together they’ve wandered off somewhere else. I heard the AI in this was really dumb, and there was one moment where I basically created a stupid, stealth game death corridor where hapless idiots kept wandering in one by one, but apart from that they have me on the back foot all the time. Even the Infected manage to mess me up over and over. They’re significantly easier to deal with for sure but if one gets alerted and I’m not ready for it it’s just a mess. They should be so easy but my success of stealth killing them all is embarrassingly low. It’s not that I don’t like the combat, I just don’t like being bad at it. This game is going to take lots of practice ?

No micro transactions, not a live service game https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2020-06-20-star-wars-squadrons-doesnt-have-microtransactions-isnt-a-live-service-game Makes me feel less suspicious about it. It’s that $40 tag. Why only $40?

My much delayed Superman/Batman Omnibus vol 1 finally turned up today. Been waiting for this for ages. Next to a standard 6 issue trade for reference It collects #1-43 plus a couple of annuals. The only part of this series I’ve ever read is actually the second half which will be collected in a second Omnibus later. So I think this is all new for me.

I was one of the people saying they were apprehensive about them doing a sequel. The first story seemed so perfectly closed. It’s way too early for me to say if it lives up to the first one yet but I’m really enjoying it and have definitely had those doubts about them giving it a go put to rest. Now it’s just a case of how good can it get.

This might be the best UI Goku and Super Broly I’ve seen yet. Goes to show what a good job the developers did recreating these characters in a fighting game because once they get going you can really see that their in-game combos really reflect what they’re like in the show. UI Goku is slick as fuck and Super Broly is pure ferocity.

Just as I said nothing has really happened. Jesus fucking Christ.

When I watched the State of Play on this I thought it looked just like the first one but now with dogs (That I’m dreading dealing with). I got struck by a wild headache tonight and have only just recovered so was now about to start...except there’s a data disc! I’ve never seen a 2 disc PS4 game before.

I don’t know how new this list is but a quick google provided this Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - 18.84 million[1] Street Fighter II - 15.5 million [2] Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U - 14.94 million[3] Super Smash Bros. Brawl - 13.30 million[3] Mortal Kombat X - 11.0 million[4] Street Fighter IV - 9.40 million[2] Tekken 3 - 8.5 million[5] Tekken 5 - 8.2 million[6] Super Smash Bros. Melee -7.41 million[3] Mortal Kombat - 6 million[7] Mortal Kombat II - 6 million Tekken 2 - 5.7 million[8] Super Smash Bros. - 5.55 million[3] Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2 - 5.50 million[9] Tekken 7 - 5 million[9] So it’s the best selling anime fighter except for the other Dragon Ball game. I’m hoping that means they’ll do a sequel.

There has actually been a lot of things I prefer about these digital only events that have happened over a E3. There’s been no awkward stage banter or demo fails that make me hide behind my hands. As said above the times have been friendlier which is good. The spacing out of the events has also been fun. I think it’s actually been a really good past couple of weeks for video games instead of just an overload shot in the arm over 1 and a bit days. I mean think it’s not even over yet. We still got Xbox first party video to go and maybe Nintendo will do a direct at some point (Hoping?). So even now there’s something to look forward too. That’s cool. And maybe the number 1 thing I like the most is there’s been far fewer pre-show leaks. Usually I have to stay away from all video game news sources an hour or two before the show because everything starts leaking like crazy just before I’m about to be surprised by it. I genuinely hate that. It’s like c’mon, guys, really? If it’s a month before whatever, but the business is that desperate for clicks they couldn’t hold off an hour. To contradict myself, though, I do also miss the craziness of it all being on one day and just making a night of it. I think the lack of an event night as meant the hype and excitement chatter on the forums has not been as fun or electric and frantic. I think it was last year me and OneTwo actually got on mic and watched some of the conferences live together. That was fun. There’s also exterior stuff like the GB After Dark shows we’re not getting because E3 isn’t on. Another good point by @DANGERMAN is I have definitely missed a bunch of stuff as well. I have no idea what happened with that IGN thing. Is it even still going? I don’t know. There actually has been a bunch of positives about the way it’s gone down this year but overall I still think I prefer normal E3.

Turn on. Blitzball. Turn off.

But not while also doing it justice

I was thinking about going digital with this game because I’m anti getting up but this and FF7R was games I wanted for the shelf. I’m trying to break that habit but it had to be done this time.

I watched Giant Bomb do their talk over thing and in the beginning they were throwing out random ideas like “Could we see a Dead Space 4? Mass Effect Remake? This Anthem overhaul?” And for a moment I was like wow so much potential. Lol. I said in the other thread EA always have the worst presentation every year but even by their standards this was a stinker. The first 20 minutes felt like the announcements that should have been made in a community post, then they’re throwing out explanations of indie games that won’t be seen until next year, the Star Wars stuff was all right but a shame it leaked for them, I suppose. And then I guess if you care about Skate then great but I don’t at all. To say that it was disappointing or underwhelming doesn’t put enough of a point on it. There wasn’t even anything in it interesting enough to be disappointed by. Star Wars stuff aside, which again it leaked so that was unfortunate, there was just a void of any reaction throughout

Lol, is the thing they’re mad about all story related stuff, then, or is it just a bunch of bizarre haters? Surprised anyone could even finish the game this fast.

The Playstation excitement made me break my “No new/expensive games” rule hard this week

Gameplay trailer Looks kind of cool and I like the idea of doing this in VR. Cautious about what the structure or the model of this game is, though. I can’t put my finger on it but something seems a little off.
-
Wow EA Play was fucking terrible. For a second, a brief second, I thought this one was going to be a good one. Nope. Every year EA has the worst presentation and this might be the worst one of them. Jeez

Giant Bomb is about to talk over EA’s thing.

Teaser trailer for the Snyder Cut Think the first 20 seconds or so is just new footage the rest of it is talking head filler
