I messed up, meant the Yuffie DLC. Having predefined decks actually sounds a lot more appealing to me.

That’s been working well for me too. Get as far forward in 2 rows sacrificing the 3rd row so they can’t put as many cards down. I’ll give that a go too but my level 3’s don’t seem all that. I’ve got a 5 power Titan which I can turn into a beast with those buff cards but usually end up sacrificing too much in the other row(s) to make it worth doing. The second pre built deck did help a lot tbh. I used that one to get most of the way. Is that the same as in Crisis Core Reunion? I hated it there too. I’ll just use a guide to smash it off if so.

Yea I just don’t care about deck building though. I haven’t even got that many different cards I can use so not sure what else I could do? So I’ll just bang my head against it. Or use a guide.

I’ve ranked up to level 5 of that. I was going to bin it off but there was an interesting cut scene after the last match so I need to know what happens now lol. I understand it but not really a fan. Far too much seems to rely on which order your cards come out. I can lose badly 4 matches then on the 5th my cards will come out just right and I’ll obliterate them to the point it wasn’t even a challenge. Meh. Another thing I’m in minority on though.

Probably not surprising but I’m the complete opposite. I went straight from OG VII into Remake and adored it. I really hope this one eventually clicks like that for me. Im definitely enjoying everything post Grasslands a lot more, apart from all the slow as fuck climbing! Not long met Yuffie and doing some side stuff. But I’m 15 hours into this and when I compare what I’ve done here to all the stuff which happens in the first 15 hours of Remake there’s no contest for me. People said Remake was bloated, it’s got nothing in this! A couple if standout set pieces & odd brilliant moments of the my fave characters interacting. But apart from that its been riding chocobos through boring, blurry textured, stuttery landscapes for the majority. Thankfully the combat has clicked again and I’m fucking loving that. Always looking forward to a fight. Especially boss battles. They’ve been amazing.

Is that true of the story missions? I’ve seen a lot of markers with recommended levels above my characters so felt I had to do the bullshit just for the experience? If they’re set at my current level then that sounds like the way to go. I’ll just mainline with some green side missions.

Yea I genuinely think I might move to a QLED when I’m buying my next TV. I’m just too sensitive to frame rate stutter on the OLED. It almost overwrites all of its positives. Although I hear new ones are better at motion. Will just have to check when the time comes.

Happy for you. Genuinely hurting the experience for me though. Either a stuttery mess which causes a headache and just doesn’t feel good or so blurry it feels like my eyes are unfocused constantly.

I’ve enjoyed the couple of green missions so far, mainly because of the party interactions. But the rest of it can get in the bin. Oh & that Moogle thing! Fuck that. What a terrible addition. Least picking up crafting shit is pain free. I haven’t gotten my head around the Synergy system at all yet. Combat is too fast and flashy I don’t see how I can plan for that stuff yet but I’m sure it’ll come with time. Just one last thing about the image too - anyone else suffering with auto brightness? It’s like the one your Tv will have, where it automatically adjusts the back light for darker scenes. I seem to be getting that really bad in this game but I know it’s not my TV - I’ve got it turned off and it doesn’t do it in any other game. Anyone else got this? Is there a fix? It’s really annoying. *Edit - Turns out it is the Tv from more googling. Still has a brightness adjust even with the setting turned off. Just this game fucks the OLED brightness up more than other games do so it’s adjusting itself a lot more whereas it doesn’t happen in other games. Have to turn the OLED brightness down to fix it. Man why’s this game so fucked? All the performance and open world shit is really getting me down TBH. I was so excited for this. 😢

The character models genuinely do look Switch quality. I even tried forcing myself to play Quakity mode last night (characters still don’t look great even in that). I kind of got used to it after about an hour but ended up with a banging head ache so had to stop.

Yep. Hate to say it but I’d probably get it. Already fed up of the compromises between performance and quality. Rebirth is really fucked with very noticeable compromises in both options. I remember the demo for FFXVI being the same. It’s a problem with more games it’s just they’re recent in mind examples. Other games do hide the compromises better too. I couldn’t tell the difference in quality between Quality and Performance in Sider-Man 2 for example. But Square games obviously need that brute forcing. Don’t take this as I want games to have even more fidelity, cost more etc. I just want games to run at their current quality settings at 60. Or lower quality, like I say, PS4 quality graphics at 4k is more than fine with me.

Theres a lot of generic open world guff in this isn’t there… In better news they’ve said they’re working on a patch so performance mode doesnt look so shit.

Finally made a start, having Friday off to play this didnt go to plan. Anyway only put a couple of hours in, started chapter 2. Loving being back in this world with these characters. I’m mega confused as to what’s going on so far! Im very rusty with this combat system too. Almost died a couple of times. Feels a lot more chaotic than I remember but hoping that’s just because I’m out of practice. Got to say performance wise I’m really disappointed though. In quality mode it’s a fucking slideshow! Even the menus feel shit. But in performance the resolution hit is insane. Everything looks blurry unless it’s right in front of your face. I’m sure Remake looked better? Done 3 matches of that Queens Blood everyone’s wanking over. Seems ok I guess. Hope there’s not a huge reward for it. Doubt I’m going to be as obsessed with it as most people from my short time with it. But yea, back to the positive, I’m just incredible happy to be back playing this series.

Completed last night. Honestly, no other game series out there does final bosses and endings like the Yakuza games. Incredible stuff. Loved it throughout. Will see how I feel after a bit of time has passed but I do think I prefer the last one though for reasons stated in that thread. Absolutely brilliant though. 9/10

I haven’t completed Infinite Wealth yet but I think I actually prefer this overall. I’m not slagging off Infinite Wealth at all but something about this one just clicked with me more overall - from memory anyway. I prefer the smaller, more focused single party. I still prefer going around Japan than Hawaii. I think the main story and “villains” were more interesting in this. & just the surprise of the changes they made with this helped too. I had the opposite to you Andy regarding money too. I’m mostly skint in Infinite Wealth but didn’t really struggle in this. I think that’s down to the market mini game and kind of enjoying it in this whereas I could grind Dondoko but I really don’t want to engage with that shit anymore. I hate it. Like I saw I’m not slagging IW off at all, it’s still a 9/10. I’ve put 50-60 hours in it so far and loving it. But I prefer this one. From memory anyway.
