  1. He's certainly chewing me up. I've been trying to summon but no signs appear. I've managed to get him down to a slither of health but then got knocked off by the second one. Did manage to clear my way through the next area though (Isle of Storms?) and beat the boss second try. Managed to find an area where he wouldn't attack so I nudge forward, threw a fireball at his bonce and then retreated. I then got invaded a few steps passed the archstone by someone with half of their health so i turned around and one shotted them.
  2. And just as I think i'm doing ok at this game..... Maneater.
  3. Pretty sure it's open to everyone, you don't need to pre-order.
  4. I'm a little disappointed, I enjoyed my time with Anthem (my PS5 tells me I sunk 45 hours into it so I feel I got my moneys worth). Yeah, it had it's faults, but I feel the core game loop was fun and there was enough potential for the update/sequel to be warranted.
  5. Looking forward to giving this a go later. I'm liking the idea that it isn't a service game, because fuck Destiny. BulletStorm was good fun so i'm hoping People Can Fly can put up a solid looter shooter.
  6. Cheers! I think having played the other Souls games helped focus my spec a bit better than I did the first time I played Dark Souls and I like the fact I don't have to rely on a parry mechanic (i'm crap at timing those).
  7. Discovered last night that by pure luck, the weapon i'd chosen in my off hand was giving me a massive magic boost (Kris's blade or something like that). I managed to take down Armoured Spider after a two or three attempts, then I got through to some fire boss not long after. Boom - he went down first try. I then went onto my favourite level so far, the Prison one. Managed to get right to the bottom before dying, swearing because I hadn't unlocked any shortcuts throughout the whole thing and that i'd have to do it all over again only to realise i'd unlocked loads of small shortcuts the whole way through. I'd also been told to: She went down first try as well. This is probably the most i've enjoyed a souls game since Bloodborne, as currently I feel like it's not kicking my arse to the floor every two minutes. I'm sure it'll make me regret typing that sometime soon though.
  8. Been playing this the last few evenings and am really enjoying it. It looks phenomenal. I mean, I know Blue Point know their stuff, but if this is what they can do with the PS5 from the offset, I can't wait to see what they can now they know their way around the system. I've also gone for the royalty class. I know it's technically easy mode, but I'll take whatever help I can get in these games. Managed to beat Phalanx and Tower Knight with no real trouble and am now on to the mines.
  9. Had a few games of this and yeah, it's a bit wanky isn't it? Feels like it could have done with a few more weeks in the concept/ideas stage to flesh it out. It's like they mashed Mario Kart's battle mode with Burnout into a full fledged game, made all the characters really unbalanced, the crashes completely underwhelming and sucked all the fun out of it.
  10. Got my PS5 on Saturday and this has been a big hit in my household. My youngest is already on his second play through and I managed to platinum it in the few hours I got to play on the console by myself. What an absolutely charming game. I'm not a fan of platformers (I think it's due to being burnt out on Mario/Nintendo games) but I loved every second of this. What a lovely homage to Playstation's history.
  11. I'm about two hours in and finding it a bit too intense. It's the constant lack of ammo. I've also just got to the bit... But yeah, otherwise it's great. The writing's top notch as well, as you'd expect from a Valve game.
  12. I've had my Quest 2 since launch and have been loving it. I know so any people that have one as well, it's become a really nice social experience. Played a fair bit of Walkabout Golf, Rez, Pokerstars VR as well as Beat Saber (which I managed to mod to upload my own songs) and Synth Riders. Playing Half and Half with some friends was quite possibly the most i've laughed in the last two years. Also got Steam VR running on my laptop's 1060 Max Q, after a fair bit of tinkering. Despite being below the minimum spec, Half Life Alyx runs really well. I also tried Phasmaphobia in VR. Fuck. That. Shit.
  13. To be fair, after measuring, drilling, measuring, swearing, filling, re-drilling, measuring, swearing again, re-filling and then finally getting it right, I sympathise with anyone that has to get one TV level, let alone two side by side.
  14. Yeah, still has a great picture. It's now being relegated to upstairs so the kids can use the the Wii U and PS4 (when I finally get a PS5). The LG CX is amazing. Seriously impressed with everything about it. I was unsure about spending so much on a TV but I don't regret it at all now it's up and running.
  15. Finally upgraded my trusty old Panasonic TV to a fancy LG OLED in preparation for a PS5 (if they ever come back in stock). Also had a bit of a tidy up (it's not normally that messy, that's just after the kids being able to run rampant as I try and juggle homeschooling with work).
  16. I picked up a Quest 2 as well and have loved it. Quite a few friends have picked one up so it's been a really nice social experience. Still haven't managed to play around with virtual desktop too much as i've spent most of my time playing Population One and Beat Saber. It's an amazing bit of kit - i'm surprised how well the speakers and mic work, especially considering the speakers are essentially just two holes in the headset strap.
  17. Boom - the Wastelanders update is now out, and best of all it's free. Now people can stop moaning about the lack of NPCs! Seriously though, I've played a fuck ton of this game with friends and its nice how the update shakes things up a bit. I'm not sure how the factions are going to warm to my 'stab everything in the face without prejudice' approach to wasteland living, but it's fun. We've already discovered a load of new enemy types (not that it was lacking before that) and i'm now the proud owner of a flaming chainsaw. The best 1st person Fallout now got better.
  18. Still having a right laugh with this. It's my favourite Fallout game. There - I said it. Easily the best Fallout world to explore, still stumbling over so many cool places, like the town that got lifted out of the ground by a massive rad tree that we found last night.
  19. More Fallout shenanigans with my online buddies. We've absolutely fallen in love with this game. It's just such a good playground to dick around in as a group, with so many cool things to discover. A lot of people have bemoaned the lack of NPCs but it hasn't affected my enjoyment of it at all. For me, the recent Fallout games have all been about the visual story telling in the world itself. The lone skeleton sitting in a bath in a burnt out hut with a bottle of whisky. The recently dead survivor with their head in a gas oven. And this game has it in droves. The pic below with me posing next to the bed, there was an angry letter on the bedside table next to it about a concerns over a man's obsession with a store mannequin he'd started to call 'Suzie'. There's also some a narrative being played out in pieces found throughout the world about a corruption charge against a person who's name is exactly the same as one of the people i'm playing with. So yeah, roll on the Wastelanders expansion. Can't wait to find me a bow to start shooting scorched with. Edited: Pictures
  20. I've been doing a bit of both. The lore/notes have been pretty great so far, with some pretty dark side quests (did one last night about a kidnapped child that got pretty creepy). But yeah, it's a lot of fun. I've even got stuck into the building aspect and now have a nice three story house with turret defences. It's got it's share of bugs, but it's no worse than any of the previous ES/Fallout games and so far they've just made us laugh. It's just a fantastic world to get lost in with loads of environmental story telling on the go. I'm now really looking forward to the expansion. I'd say that if anyone enjoyed any of the last few Fallout games and you can get two or three people together to play this with, it's well worth picking up cheap.
  21. So, managed to get some codes for this and a group of us fired it up for the first time last night. Have to say, we had an absolute blast - had more fun in a few hours with this than I did in my whole time with Fallout 4. First impressions are that it's Fallout with your mates. Not sure how it'd play if you were on your own, but we spent four hours just dicking around and doing the opening few quests. We spent more time than I care to admit searching out cars we could destroy, resulting in mini mushroom clouds. We had a random encounter with a woman who kept trying to make us wear trousers (no chance) and met a ghoul who had bugged out and wouldn't attack. The building part is really intuitive as well, I managed to knock up a house with a porch and veranda in about 5 minutes without using any tutorials. Does it have its faults? Sure. There were a few small bugs but nothing major. Was it the most i've laughed in a video game for a long time? Absolutely. I genuinely can't wait to play more this evening.

    The Surge

I took a punt on this for £20 and am really enjoying it so far (first game i've bought for myself in ages). Probably about four hours in and i'm loving the weaponry. Combat seems a little looser yet more forgiving than Souls but there's been a few tough sections to work through. Deaths have never felt cheap yet though.
  23. Managed to get Luigi's Mansion and Link's Awakening for £60. Be quick as I got very lucky (they hadn't put Luigi's Mansion on display yet and I nabbed the last Link's Awakening). 24. It clicked for me last night and i'm loving it. I'm setting some rules for myself in this just to see how it plays out. My character is full on hand to hand combat, strong as an ox and dumb as fuck (always have to select dumb as an option). I'm choosing the most most morally questionable outcome of each scenario (obviously) and I have to kill every character I find on their own (I tried to murder an entire bar last night but got outnumbered). Nearly became unstuck in one quest as I could either help a character, or help a character trying to rob from them so I ended up sneaking up behind each of them and taking a hammer to their skull, which immediately lost me a side-quest. Lesson learned - use people, et reward and THEN kill them.
