  1. Haha are my film reviews really that bad? To be fair I could see all three of those being good, I was just trying to sort out what I would watch first and what could wait...
  2. Following on from the shout thread... Ok I think that title is pompous enough. I've been exploring the colourful Quaramonte City and bumped into some old friends: You meet this couple in Syria in Broken Sword 1. The "smoking mirror" of the title refers to the Aztec god Tezcatlipoca, as Professor Oubier tells you in Quaramonte City. As far as adventure games go, Broken Sword is definitely guilty of having some pixel hunting and obscure puzzle solutions. Also, progress often requires repeatedly talking to people to unlock new dialogue options. But these problems don't really mar the game. It's worth mentioning that they are some of the most beautifully soundtracked games I've ever played.
  3. Yeah I'm watching the original series of Berserk. I probably will watch Planetes when I'm done with other stuff, it didn't seem too bad.
  4. I actually went on an anime marathon over the weekend, watched the first episode of a lot of shows in my list. The ones I really liked were: Berserk, Dragon Ball, Fullmetal Alchemist, Great Teacher Onizuka, Outlaw Star and Trigun. The ones that seemed pretty cool were: Azumanga Daioh, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Honey and Clover, Now and Then, Here and There, Monster, Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit, Neon Genesis Evangelion. The ones I didn't like at all or thought were pretty boring: Death Note, Eden of the East, Elfen Lied, Gurrenn Lagann, Last Exile, Kino's Journey, Planetes, Texhnolyze. Anyway, my favourite was GTO, so fucking funny. On to episode 4 of that now.

  6. Spiders! 14 March, not long away now...
  7. It doesn't take much to be an A student Ben! You're so close. You just forgot to take Broken Sword out of the top list.
  8. Thanks! Although you forgot to move Broken Sword to the released list (and delete The Banner Saga from the top list).
  9. Can you (or Sly) make the changes that I mentioned at the bottom of this post? Also you might as well move The Banner Saga to the released list, since it's out today. Will definitely pick up TBS, probably at a 50% off though. Anyone interested in Consortium should probably read this: http://steamcommunity.com/games/264240/announcements/detail/1387407098673485374

  11. I didn't log any time for Skyward Sword because raptr randomly added 24 hours last weekend. Probably would have gotten Shadowrun Returns in if I hadn't gone on an anime binge this weekend.
  12. It's the trilogy version I have. If memory serves I'm at one of the more annoying areas of the game (I googled it and I think it's the Phazon Mines). There's a long trip from the save point to a mini boss, I remember spending ages one night trying to figure out how to kill him...which I didn't. For some reason I switched it off rather than look up the solution on the internet while I was doing it...
  13. May go back to Metroid Prime 1 if someone else is going through a Prime game.
  14. Anyone here back Broken Age? If you backed it Part 1 is out on Tuesday: http://kotaku.com/part-one-of-broken-age-double-fines-crowdfunded-advent-1498951702 Really looking forward to that game but I feel it will be one to play on a new computer.
  15. Currently stumbling through the first temple like a retard...I guess it's been a while since I played a Zelda game.
  16. Yeah that looks interesting, just waiting to read some reviews. Although there are so many indie games now that a lot of them aren't being reviewed...
  17. Arrived today, that was quick! Unfortunately for Metroid: Other M it's below the Metroid Prime Trilogy and Super Metroid on my list of priorities so it may be a while before I unwrap it...
  18. 6 hours in now, just entered the inner sanctum of the Universal Brotherhood. It's funny, one game that SR has reminded me of a lot is The Longest Journey, SR really does have a strong adventure game vibe to it (a good thing!). I'm not sure how long the game is, I thought it was 15 hours but it feels like I'm nearing the end of the story unless there's a twist in the tale. The game has been criticised for being "rpg-lite" - which is an accurate description of the game when you consider how linear it is and it can be played in 20-30 minute chunks - but I wouldn't say it's light on features. In fact, everything present in the game works really well. The character classes are actually unique and combat is a blast. I hope Dragonfall isn't the last we see of Shadowrun (outside of fan-made campaigns). It would be really cool to see a 40 hour plus epic.
  19. I've played through the Faron Woods and am now at the Forest Skyview Temple, also explored some of the smaller islands. This game is great. It gets off to slow start but once you start adventuring around the Faron Woods, everything just clicks into place, it's that Zelda magic. I think Beedle is my favourite recurring character.

    Books

God I haven't done much reading since October. Well I finished those three books, I can't say much for Skippy Dies or On Beauty but everyone should read The Magic Mountain! Right now I've ordered three books from the library: Richard Russo - Empire Falls Roberto Bolano - The Savage Detectives Denis Johnson - Tree of Smoke Three new writers for me, should be good!
  21. DC did you fall asleep counting or what?
