All I saw was a bunch of dollar signs running around. This is going to make all the money. Nice touch with Mr. Incredible holding the Croquet bird from Alice In Wonderland at the end there. Love that film.
  3. Sense has been typed on a webpage: http://www.vg247.com/2013/01/15/dmc-devil-may-cry-fans-are-a-crying-shame/ *nods in agreement*
  4. I was planning on using a variety of Blood and Iron embers once I can get my hands on some, also need to find a decent 1H to go with the shield I'm babysitting. Of course, I need to level up again before any of that is possible. The only thing that's miffing me a bit with the multiplayer is that if I'm building a tank character the game gives me no way (not even sure the game is coded this way) to take agro from squishier classes. As a melee class It's a bit annoying when you're trying to hit something that's running away from you. I suppose that comes from playing WoW for so long, I'm trying to transplant theories and styles onto a different type of game and it's not making sense.
  5. Couldn't resist the PC version at 1920x1080 with all the bells and whistles. Should look fucking awesome. I loved the combat and the insta-switch weapons, worked really well I thought and felt awesome once you were stringing everything together with relative ease. I expect once you have all the weapons and abilities this will stand on equal ground with the previous games. And DM, you can pick it up for only £24 from ShopTo... Go on, you know you want to *nudgenudge*
  6. Kentucky Route Zero Act 1 - Short point & click adventure, nothing too taxing as it's more about the journey and discoveries than puzzles. The art direction is astounding at times, one of the most beautiful looking and sounding games I've played in a while.
  7. Having to wait a bit longer for this on account of getting the PC version. I was a bit worried when Ninja Theory was announced as the developer, and again when they started releasing details and assets from the game but judging by the demo, hot damn it's going to be good. Everything they're doing with the constantly shifting and morphing environments reminds me a little of Soul Reaver, just on a lot drugs. It's a high bar that's been set to kick off the year with, and it only gets better from here by all accounts.
  8. We had a good thing going for a while there, then we hit that temple. One second I was running to hit some enemies, the next I was dead. You get complacent for even a split second and it all goes wrong. Bit of a wake up call, that was. It's not easy to get back into it after dying even at low level. I was having to hit and run and let you and Craymen do most of the work. Not getting any loot of a usable level wasn't really helping matters either. As Craymen said, I'll also try and get my Engineer back up to a similar level before we play again. Might be asking a bit much for you to take on everything Sly
  9. Quite a few games I'm looking forward to on those lists: The Witness, STASIS, Amnesia: AMFP, Asylum, Radio the Universe, Gone Home. The indies are going to kick some serious ass this year, without a doubt.

    Dead Space 3

Just pre-ordered this: http://gear.ea.com/dead-space-3-dev-team-edition-add-on.html I was wondering if they were going to announce a special edition, looks like this is it. Only problem is that it's being shipped from the US so glob knows when it will turn up and what the customs charge will be when it gets here
  11. Sounds very cool. I like when they use Kinect for anything other than motion controls.
  12. I spent a bit of time playing this last night and was quite impressed with what they've done. Considering I didn't think it was going to work at all, it was a nice surprise. The only game mode available in the beta is Favour of the Gods, both team and ffa flavours. You have to run around the arena, gain favour at each of the altars dotted around and defend your captured altars from the enemy team. It only takes about 5-10 seconds (depending on whether it is currently captured or not) so the altars can switch sides frequently. Each altar you capture gains your team "Favour" and it's these points that allow you to win the match, around 8000 for the team game. There's no explanation of how the game works so most players are treating it like a standard deathmatch and just killing each other over and over. You get points for kills but the lion's share is gained by capturing the altars. Hopefully this will change in time as everyone gets more familiar and it'll make the matches slightly less one-sided. The combat is standard God of War fare with weak and strong attacks, block, dodge and a kick. You have a two special moves at your disposal which are dependent on the weapon you have equipped, a magic spell and a choice of various items. Round that out with a ranged throw, the ability to parry weak attacks and executions and you've got something that's fast, responsive and violent. They've included an experience and leveling system which unlocks better armour to improve your stats and grants you points to spend on unlocking or upgrading new abilities. It's worth having a go if you're a PS+ subscriber as it's a bit different to other multiplayer games out there. Should be a fun little distraction when the full game is released.
  13. Phew, for a second there I thought I was going to have a tough decision on my hands. Luckily the Wizard's Edition also comes with the book, as well as a Drippy plushy

    Valve Steam Box

I really can't see where the need for these small boxes have come from. The Ouya, Gamestick, the unit from Xi3 above etc. all running either Android or Linux... when was the last time you heard of a must play Android game? And LAN parties? What is that unit going to be able to run that would necessitate a whole LAN party? Need. more. info...

    Fez

I would stop there if I were you, sounds like you've had enough. It's only going to frustrate further if you continue as post completion this side of the game requires alot of repetition and alot of thought. If I remember correctly you'll need every single cude and anti-cube in the game in order to access the pyramid and that task, specifically the anti-cubes, require the use of the glasses to achieve. Besides that the payoff for solving everything entirely isn't really worth it if I'm honest. It only felt worth it at the time due to the massive community that sprung up around solving the last puzzle. Probably just reading about it and checking out some YouTube vids would be better at this point.

So you think this will be an entirely new "console" type deal? Hadn't even entertained that idea tbh. I was just assuming, because it has been dubbed the "Steam Box" so far, that it would run stuff from the Steam catalogue. That kind of thing will be a very tough sell all round. With the next generation of consoles set to increase in cost, from the development to the finished product's RRP, adding yet another format to the mix and splitting the market down even further may not end up being beneficial to anyone.
  17. By the end of it I'd gotten really awesome at clearing out the bad guys via stealth or hand-to-hand just so I didn't have to shoot them. Of course, the hand-to-hand stuff has the stupid touchscreen gestures to wade through, but it was the lesser of two evils.

Yes, DirectX is Windows only and can't be ported. I was thinking maybe some kind of WINE wrapper but you'd still need to worry about licensing Windows to use that or any emulation. I can't see the developers and publishers being happy with porting it to Linux, there's a reason they aren't already doing it. If Valve start to insist on ports to other platforms being a necessity I'd expect more than a few to just turn their backs on it. I trust Valve though so i'm just speculating at this point rather than forming an opinion. It'll be interesting to see where this goes.
  19. No, you got the jist. It's only one of them that does the voices, you can hear the rest of them sitting there facepalming but it's all done tongue-in-cheek. Reminds me of the old GFW Radio podcasts that used to be on in some ways.

I want this to happen soon. I'm a little concerned about it running on Linux though. Unless they're planning on streaming games, which I didn't think they had much interest in. The vast majority of their catalogue is Windows based, so not sure how they're planning on having Linux run this software, unless there's something critical i'm missing ofc
  21. I only really listen to Joypod as I enjoy Sean Bell's ramblings and because Midnight Resistance don't record regularly, or at least haven't been lately. With Joypod currently on a break it was a nice surprise to see a 5 hour podcast turn up. Will be starting to listen to Cain & Rinse off the back of this mash-up also, sounds like they've got some excellent content coming up this year. I've been listening to The Besties since it started, it's awesome. Also listen to MBMBAM due to the McElroy brothers being three of the funniest bastards alive.
  22. I always intended to do a Hardcore playthrough of the second game, never did do it though. Attempted it a couple of times but it's just too harsh without being able to save and no checkpoints etc. Couldn't even make it to the halfway point where you swapped discs. It could be done through repetition with loads of practice, but I can't imagine the last section would get any easier regardless of how much time you put in.
  23. Good man! I tried the One Gun achievement at the same time as my Impossible run... Is fun the right word to use here?
  24. I played and finished this over the Christmas period, didn't dislike it entirely but was meh at best. The main problem I had with it, aside from the shoe-horned touch controls, was that it didn't feel like a proper Uncharted game. It had Nolan North, set pieces, a female partner, Sully, climbing, ridiculous jumps and shooting (the aiming of which is hellish on that tiny right stick), all the stuff you'd expect from an Uncharted game, but it ended up just feeling like a cheap imitation. I guess Naughty Dog bring a certain something to the table that Bend couldn't replicate.

    Under Defeat

Bucking the trend here but this is one of my favourite shooters. This was one of the first DC shooters I played and the game that really got me into the genre. It may not be bullet hell or very colourful, but it has a certain charm, excellent explosions and a killer soundtrack.
