  1. Had an interesting moment today, where a character I pushed off a bridge to her death earlier turned up leading an attack on the druid camp at Emerald Grove.
  2. Pentiment (PC) Case Of The Golden Idol (PC) Hidden Through Time (PC) Hi-Fi Rush (PC) Sniper Elite 5 (PC) Supraland: Six Inches Under (PC) GTA V (PC) SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech (PC) Venba (PC) Super Catboy (PC) Tyranny (PC) Another classic crpg style game from Obsidian, I think originally came out between the Pillars of Eternity games. The angle of you being a cog in the machine of a conquering tyrannical empire is an interesting one. It feels a little like maybe they ran out of time or money in some areas, but the story and characters were entertaining.
  3. Pentiment (PC) Case Of The Golden Idol (PC) Hidden Through Time (PC) Hi-Fi Rush (PC) Sniper Elite 5 (PC) Supraland: Six Inches Under (PC) GTA V (PC) SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech (PC) Venba (PC) A very short narrative game about an Indian couple who immigrate to Canada in the 80's. Themes of retaining your culture vs. fitting in, prejudice, food, family, loss. I enjoyed it, I finished it within about 90 minutes so people will have different opinions if that's worth the asking price of nearly £13 to them. Luckily it's on Gamepass. Super Catboy (PC) Cheep and cheerful 90's console inspired 2D platformer with great pixel graphics and music. I somehow noticed it on release day and got for £6.80 with a launch discount, it's still cheap at regular price. Nothing too challenging beyond the obligatory couple of annoying levels, I thought it was pretty fun.
  4. I don't pay a lot attention to game announcements these days, and often don't look at trailers or videos until a game is imminent. The last time I did really pay attention to upcoming games was probably around the Xbox 360, The game I remember being most hyped for was either Left For Dead or Mass Effect (1 and 2), I spent a lot of time reading about those.
  5. Pentiment (PC) Case Of The Golden Idol (PC) Hidden Through Time (PC) Hi-Fi Rush (PC) Sniper Elite 5 (PC) Supraland: Six Inches Under (PC) GTA V (PC) SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech (PC) SteamWorld's take on a deck-builder rpg. I like all the SteamWorld games to date, this one was great, but Heist or maybe Dig 2 are still top of the pile.
  6. Pentiment (PC) Case Of The Golden Idol (PC) Hidden Through Time (PC) Hi-Fi Rush (PC) Sniper Elite 5 (PC) Supraland: Six Inches Under (PC) GTA V (PC) This was given away free on Epic a while ago. I don't know what drove me to play it now, but it's the first time one of these has ever kept me interested long enough to complete it. I think the three character system helped somewhat. The main story heist missions were all quite enjoyable, some of the other side stuff less so - being a little repetitive and formulaic. Playing it was still clunky in some areas, but it's the most playable GTA has ever been. I had to remind myself it came out on 360 & PS3 and remember to give it some leeway for that. For the final mission I chose option C which lead to some fun sequences, but I have to admit I hovered over the kill Trevor option for a while first.
  7. Pentiment (PC) Case Of The Golden Idol (PC) Hidden Through Time (PC) Hi-Fi Rush (PC) Sniper Elite 5 (PC) Supraland: Six Inches Under (PC) I think this was originally meant to be DLC for Supraland, but it grew into a strange standalone expansion/semi sequel. There's still a proper sequel (Supraworld) in development. It manages to have mostly all original locations, but uses many of the upgrades of the original. It's fun like the original, with some enjoyable puzzles.
  8. Pentiment (PC) Case Of The Golden Idol (PC) Hidden Through Time (PC) Hi-Fi Rush (PC) Sniper Elite 5 (PC) Been in a bit of a slump, gaming wise for the last month or two, just not sticking with anything. I fired this up on game pass because I remember trying one of the others for a couple of hours during a free weekend on Steam and finding it silly fun. This ended up really getting it's hooks in me. I spent ages exploring all over the level maps finding intel leading to side objectives, and loads of time trying to wipe out enemies without being seen or heard.
  9. I caved and bought this weeks big release.

Jason Schreier did one of his what went wrong articles. https://archive.ph/5Xq7M (non-paywall link)
  11. Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer is tied in with the Hypnospace Outlaw universe. It's gone full-on pastiche of the era, like Hypnospace did. I don't have huge nostalgia for shooters like this, but I'll give it a go.
  12. wrong thread, please ignore me.
  13. I backed Double Fine Adventure, Pillars Of Eternity, Grim Dawn, Banner Saga, Hyper Light Drifter and Torment: Tides Of Numanera, which all turned out pretty good. There some failures, too (Godus).
  14. Pentiment (PC) Case Of The Golden Idol (PC) Hidden Through Time (PC) Hi-Fi Rush (PC)
  15. Pentiment (PC) Case Of The Golden Idol (PC) Hidden Through Time (PC) I looked at some pleasant 2D scenes and found some hiden items while listening to some podcasts. Not quite as humorous and felt less interactive than Hidden Folks, but an enjoyable diversion. There re a few theme DLCs that don't cost much, so maybe I'll go back some time.
  16. I might give it a try, but wish it was a regular action game and not based around synching up with the music.
  17. Pentiment (PC) While I enjoyed it quite a it when playing, it was one of those where I really had to be in the right mood to boot it up, especially during the first act.
  18. I just ticked over 70 hours playtime this week. I played quite regularly in early access, a few hours every couple of updates. I tailed off a bit as it reached version 1.0 and it became something of an occasional podcast game. I've gotten back into it in the last couple of weeks, working on the collection and unlocks. I beat the reaper who turns up at 30 minutes yesterday to unlock them as a playable character, unlocked the weird meatball-looking thing from the Gallo Tower, and unlocked a Secrets menu on the main screen. I bought the DLC, but haven't tried it yet.

A few hours long. I enjoyed getting around the island, and the run animation on your character was adorable.
  20. Lil Gator Game is really cute, reminds me a lot of A Short Hike.

    This looks pretty sweet
  23. I didn't get around to buying Monkey Island yet, so that's a result.

It's a silly entertaining story mode, the action is as you'd expect of a giant monster game, and the destruction is great fun.
