radiofloyd
Yakuza Kiwami, the PS4 remake of the original 2005 game, is coming to PS4 in the west summer 2017 via publisher Deep Silver. "Kiwami" means extreme in Japanese and this remake is not a remaster, but an entirely new game built from the ground up. As such, it will be in 1080p with 60fps and even the audio will be completely redone with largely the same voice actors reprising their roles. It will also have roughly 30 minutes worth of new cutscenes. Plus your nemesis, the stylish Goro Majima, will pop up everywhere. So you can run into him at random locations, like convenience stores, and brawl with him. Furthermore, Yakuza 6: The Song of Life Will has also been confirmed for a western release, though it won't be out until early 2018. Yakuza 6 will feature the new "Dragon Engine", so it should be the best-looking Yakuza game yet. Both titles will be available in both physical and digital forms. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-12-03-yakuzas-ps4-remake-is-coming-to-the-west
DisturbedSwan
Really is fantastic news! Y0 at the end of January, Y:Kiwami (never played the original) in the Summer and Y6 early 2018, bloody amazing! SO many years of getting no localised Yakuza and now we're getting an absolute smorgasbord, really hope Sega/Sony market these games this time around, I think a lot of the GTA/Skyrim crowd may be interested in them if they knew about them. DisturbedSwan
Well she is in a Bikini which probably counts as 'softcore' plus there's lots of games with nudity in them that remain uncensored. The difference in this case though is whether they make a big deal out of it being a real women shown or not I guess, if BBFC was still doing the ratings I'd say it might have to be cut but since it's PEGI now I reckon it'll probably go through unscathed, guess they could conceivably cut the bit after she takes her shorts off, but who knows. DisturbedSwan
And theres more... Sony’s Yakuza 6 Live Action Trailer with Porn-Star Yua Mikami Is The Weirdest Thing You’ll See Today The trailer, that you can enjoy below, stars Japanese porn-star Yua Mikami, who plays one of the two camgirls in the game, alongside Anri Okita. Acting with her is also Hong Kong celebrity Tat Gor, who has been among the local faces of PlayStation over the past couple of years. Suffice to say, it’s probably the weirdest thing that you’re going to see today.
radiofloyd
Quote Yakuza Kiwami will launch both physically and digitally for PlayStation 4 on August 29 in the Americas and Europe for $29.99 / £29.99 / €34.99, publisher Sega announced. Pre-orders and limited first run copies of the physical version will come packaged in a SteelBook. Sega has also launched the Yakuza Experience website, which features a Yakuza series interactive timeline and character map, as well as the first issue in a 10-part digital comic series called The Dragon’s Path. The comic will recreate iconic moments from the franchise between Yakuza 0 and Yakuza 6, with some “surprises” to be expected. Here’s an overview of Yakuza Kiwami, via Sega: About Being retold in Kiwami is the nascent character arc for Yakuza – the game begins with series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu getting sent to prison for the murder of his family patriarch (which he didn’t commit). To make matters worse, during the 10 years of his imprisonment, not only does Kiryu’s clan expel him from the yakuza, but ¥10 billion (~$100 million) goes missing from the clan treasury. Worse yet, Kiryu’s childhood sweetheart is also nowhere to be found, and with the entirety of the Japanese underworld on the hunt for the missing cash, Kiryu is all but lost until he finds the orphan girl Haruka, searching for her aunt who shares the same name as Kiryu’s missing love. What follows from there is a web of betrayal, underworld politics, and redemption as nothing will stop Kiryu from regaining his honor. Features A Family Patriarch’s Ransom of New Content – “Kiwami” literally translates to “extreme,” and the game was named that for good reason. Not just a simple graphical upgrade, Kiwami adds nearly 30 minutes of cutscenes alone, providing all-new insight into the game’s plot and creating common threads with series prequel Yakuza 0. There’s also added distractions (Pocket Circuit car racing, MesuKing: Battle Bug Beauties, new hostesses, and more), side quests, combat updates, re-recorded Japanese dialogue, and more to bring the original Yakuza game into the latest console generation. A Place for Newcomers and Veterans – Yakuza Kiwami is the ultimate bridge in the series: newcomers or those whose Yakuza experience started with Yakuza 0 will have familiar, exacting controls, top-notch Sega localization, and a solid starting point for entering the Yakuza franchise fresh. Veterans will experience a familiar Kamurocho and plot, but with new levels of story depth and graphical polish. But it was me! Majima! – Completely new to Kiwami is the “Majima Everywhere” system, where the series’ deranged, one-eyed maniac will constantly surprise and challenge Kiryu to combat when he least expects it. We’re talking “popping out of a goofy costume” levels of surprise, so players must stay on their toes and be ready to defend themselves from Kiryu’s chief rival. Extreme Revitalization – Kiwami is rebuilt from the ground up with all new HD assets, exclusive Japanese voice audio re-recorded by the series cast, and more; optimized for the PlayStation 4 and running in 1080p/60fps. And following suit with Sega’s commitment to the Yakuza series, the game will release in both physical and digital formats in the west. http://gematsu.com/2017/04/yakuza-kiwami-launches-august-29-americas-europe
DANGERMAN
The short version of the above is that Yakuza Kiwami is a remake of the first game. Theres a few characters from Yakuza 0 that are key to the first game, but obviously it's not vital for you to have played that

DisturbedSwan
Yakuza 6: The song of Life launches March 20th, 2018 in the West. Deluxe and Collector's Editions Announced Quote This will be the first Yakuza game to use the new Dragon Engine, which was designed specifically for the PS4. Our Digital Foundry tech specialist and Yakuza aficionado John Linneman offered an analysis of Yakuza 6's pre-release demo and found its gameplay a strong improvement over previous entries in the series. Some of these improvements were graphical, of course, but the more important changes were to its overall design, as Yakuza 6 finally allows players to seamlessly enter and exit combat scenarios without pausing the action and loading an enclosed battle arena. More importantly, you can finally purchase drinks from vending machines and control exactly how much you sip while walking in real-time. Video games are amazing. Yakuza 6 will feature a host of revamped mini-games ranging from karaoke, batting cages, darts, managing a hostess club, and playing arcade games at Club Sega. This upcoming entry will also feature new distractions like bar mingling and spearfishing. Like a dragon! Sega has claimed that Yakuza 6 is the final installment in the story of series' protagonist Kazuma Kiryu. It's set immediately after the events of Yakuza 5 and these games tend to have pretty convoluted plots, so if you've not played these titles before, you might have to do a bit of outside reading to catch up. Yakuza 6 will be available both physically and digitally, and Sega went all out on an "After Hours premium edition". This collector's item includes a hardcover art book, two 280ml shot glasses, a couple of ice stones for cooling your drink, two coasters, and an exclusive box to keep all this kit together. There will also be a limited launch edition of the game, which just adds a hardcover art book that doubles as a disc case. Yakuza 6 has been available in Japan since December 2016, but as anyone who's played these games can tell you, there is a lot of dialogue to localise. Hence the wait. In other Yakuza news, Yakuza Kiwami, the modern remake of the series' first entry, will make its western debut 29th August on PS4. The most recent installment to make its way to our region was Yakuza 0, a series prequel that Eurogamer contributor Chris Schilling deemed "the best Yakuza to date and one of the finest Sega games in years."
