I went to work every day, wife killed herself, workmate jumped off the roof, a female workmate suggested we do the dirty deed but I continued working and eventually found the cure.

There didn't seem to be many people left, however, and it might well have been too late.

I would guess the "One Chance" is not only one chance to save the world but also one chance to spend your last moments with your family. Right from the get go I interpreted it purely as one chance to find a cure so that's what I did. I kinda feel like a dick now.

I went to work all the time and in the end and found a cure, saving whats left of humanity. Sacrifices have to be made.

I accidently skipped work on the first day and went to work every day but the last, instead took Molly to the park and died next to each other.

I skipped the first day of work to go to the pub, to celebrate my awesomeness. I went to work everyday afterwards but never got a cure. I died in the lab with my wee girl outside dead in the hall.

I think that's called an 'epic fail'

I doubt any of you will have read them, but the 2 sequels to The Ring have a similar idea. I wouldn't necessarily recommend reading them though
