stoobie
I have just got a bonus from work (sounds good but its instead of a payrise so am in fact losing money ) and I think I am going to blow some of it on a phone that has a decent web browser on it. I have a Samsung Tocco at the moment and it truly is shit as a web browser. I know you are all probably going to suggest an iPhone, but I still have about a year left on an Orange contract which means that isnt an option. I think i have narrowed it down to either the Nokia E71 or a Blackberry Bold. I think. I get lost with phone specs and I really dont want to suffer a salespersons pitch in a phone shop. Anybody know of a phone with a really good web browser?
DANGERMAN
If you just want a decent browser for a standard mobile then try Opera mini. I used to get free net (to a point, 5mg i think) and it was good for reading news/football scores, even browsing the forum. It condenses all the images prior to you loading them, so instead of loading a 206k image you view a 26k instead (probably a bad example)
stoobie
Just downloaded that - its a lot better than the standard Tocco one - and it works on the sites I would want it for (porn obviously) - the buttons are a bit tiny for my fingers and you cant use a stylus on my phone - will persevere tho as you have just saved me £250ish quid! Jimboxy
yeah opera mini FTW its amazing. I think if you use opera as your main browser you can sync bookmarks and the likes as well. Plus it seems to use less data then the normal phone browsers as well.
pickled
opera mini is ace for regular phones, i pretty much force anyone i know who's trying to use t'internet on their phone to get it, and yeah if you're on a limited data plan it cut's down the amount of mb used as it renders the websites on opera's own servers and compresses them for you and the rss reader is great on it too
Hendo
I used Opera Mini on my old phone and it showed the Vodaphone browser to be the piece of shit that it was. If you're gonna upgrade anyway though, go for Blackberry.
retroed
I'm using the standard browser on my Nokia N85 and it's pretty good. I think I'll give Opera Mini a try one day, though. I only use it in wifi areas or in the house though, as I don't have an internet phone plan.

Opera Mini is a good browser, also SkyFire is another good one (Supports Flash, YouTube!) Depends if your phone is running full blown Windows Mobile 6.1, not sure if SkyFire is available for Symbian. I use both.. still running on a HTC TyTN II here that I've had for almost 2 years! Pocket IE blows monkey balls. Windows Mobile 6.5 is out soon which includes a very revamped Pocket IE so 3rd party browsers shouldn't be requried unless you are a mozilla/google humper! Plug: Acer bought out E-Ten a while ago and have brought out a range of DX phones which I must say are rather nice Long Live Microsoft!!!
stoobie
Now I have (kind of) saved money by not having to buy a new phone to get mobile internet goodness I have some money burning a rather large hole in my pocket. Might have to pick up a DSi

I'm pretty impressed with it as I was expecting just basic functionality. It also has BBC iPlayer built-in, with the option to download programs to watch as and when. I think you should get a DSi, stoobie! Its web browser is meant to be much improved, although obviously only available in WiFi areas.
