  1. I'd like to think that I've already done that in buying both DD and DD:DA on the 360..... :-)
  2. A report on GameSpot said the Switch version will be $30. Which, noting that I got DD:DA (360) for £13, 5 years ago, doesn't sound too appealling (bit like how I passed on the NS version of Skyrim too).
  3. Will get this on Switch, so long as they don't take the p*ss price wise, and it's playable without needing the online pass thing. Cheapskate, yep maybe, but spent about 100 hrs with it on the 360 a few years ago.
  4. Really surprised that you've not run into Ifan (ranged guy) yet. He was in the Fort Joy Ghetto having an argument with someone when I found him. He has the Pet Pal skill too, which comes in handy for getting tips from the animals.
  5. I went with Beast and equipped him with 1H and shield, since I pushed the majority of his skill points into Warfare (rather than specific combat skills, since the bonus seemed better and you can then get the higher level skill books), likewise my magic user has wand and shield rather than 2H staff, again benefitting from the 'shields up' skill too. One tip for fighting is to concentrate on either doing physical or magical damage (not a mixture of both). This will erode the respective shield quicker and then allow you to reduce their vitality.
  6. Don't think there's too much problem switching between them in the first Act or two, but by Act 3 you'll need to decide which 3 will be with you for the rest of the game. But, I don't think that you'll be able to conclude all their stories in a single playthrough. The is clear signposting before you reach the point of no return for each Act. Yep, second the above about quicksaving too - not so you can redo choices but there are a few WTF moments that can lead to total party death (or occasionally if you steal when trying to talk, or attack when trying to move etc).
  7. Finding the game steps up beyond my levelling in several parts - I've now moved on to Arx and so far most things are 2-3 levels higher than my party. A few of the online guides suggest that fighting is more rewarding than diplomacy (hence you get more exp from battles than persuasion/ diplomacy) which is disappointing if it leaves you short of skills/hits for those unavoidable encounters later on. Overall I'm not enjoying this one quite as much as the first, but it's still pretty great (albeit the overuse of necrofire as surface effect is a bit tiresome).
  8. I guess it won't be many more years until we're streaming games (OnLive, PS Now style) and not downloading (or 'owning') them either.
  9. Couple of reports on Eurogamer made me wonder how gaming history/retro gaming will be different in the not too distant future. One story suggests 80% of game sales are now digital downloads, whilst another is about how the Lego LotR games have today been pulled from digital stores (licensing issues/expiry). So if the future means we can't fall back on hardcopies then some games may be lost to you forever (if you don't buy them before licence goes).
  10. Another thing worth noting (especially if you played the first game) is that there is no resurrection spell/skillbook* in this one, and you're reliant upon acquiring resurrection scrolls (they are quite plentiful but seem expensive in the early game when you don't have much money). So make sure you use the trade option, when available, during most conversations to see who has got what. Traders stock also updates as you level up. *There is a necro spell that you can get much later in the game, but it's still a switch vitality sort of raise dead rather than resurrection.
  11. You should be able to find all the pre-generated PCs (Sebille, Lohse, Beast, Fane, Red Prince & Ifan) in the Fort Joy area, including Ifan who is the ranger. With regards to items, I think they just will appear as a dialogue choice but might be dependent upon which party member you use for the conversation. Worth noting that once you leave Fort Joy (after 15-20 hrs or so) you can fully respec all your characters if needed (using the magic mirror in the ships hold).

    TV Shows

It's a great show, I'm running up to date with new series as it airs, takes a few nice twists & turns from where you are up to.
  14. Wow, after 80hrs I'm on the Nameless Isle, and now Sebille lies dead* (unresurrectable). Didn't see that coming, but I'll live with my choice & consequences and have recruited a mercenary from the boat to replace her. *Not really a spoiler since I'm pretty sure they'll be a route that prevents this.
  15. Blakey - I'm not hung up on the whole TV drama. I'm fully aware of Charlie Brooker's link to gaming and the themes of Black Mirror. Hence acknowledging that there's plenty of games which branch and allow you multiple playthroughs to see multiple endings if that's what you want, I thought that it was a missed opportunity to present something rather unique, where you just got one shot to mould the story based on your choices. -------- Albeit - it'd be much 'easier' if I just rewound, took a different path, agreed with the majority and said it was great and I that loved the multiple endings etc.........
  16. So you basically just want a game, not a TV drama driven by your choices and their consequence?
  17. My focus (on single run through) was to make the differentiation that it was a TV show not a game, hence a singular experience based on your choice, which you could then compare with others. Yes I understand that in a game you might want to get your money's worth by exploring multiple avenues, but as a piece of televisual art I think the single experience would be worth doing.
  18. Re: Bandersnatch Seems on reflection that self confessed video game fan Charlie Brooker has actually just made a video game and passed it off as a TV show. Maybe the ultimate crossover (game vs traditional entertainment) would be to lock in your responses so you can't redo with different choices, then get people to share their different experiences via social media etc.
  19. LOL, isn't that sort of missing the point, the true ending is the one that's driven by the choices you've made. Now if you mean the 'best ending' or something like that, then it's not really a reflection of your instincts. "Hey guys, anyone got a walkthrough for this TV programme I'm watching or for life itself......."
  20. Black Mirror : Bandersnatch The choose your own adventure style episode is now on Netflix, and it's pretty decent. The interface works well and there seems a reasonable element of choice and consequence. An interesting sidenote is that there was a game called Bandersnatch under development at Imagine Software in the 80s before they went under, and you can watch a documentary about that on YouTube: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Bj-KZdiSrg4]
  21. I find MK is fun for a multiplayer blast, but I find there is little reward in the SP game for racing well and creating a lead, since you too often just end up with a ridiculous quantity of red shells and blue bombs coming your way at times.
  22. You think that's bad, at work we had a senior civil servant as the BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) Champion called Nick Gurr. https://race.bitc.org.uk/leading-change/leadershipreflections/NickGurr
  23. I played it quite a lot over a couple of weeks, but it gets pretty tricky to complete some of the challenges, with the different squads, which you need to do to get the last few coins to unlock the final squads. An enjoyable game though nonetheless.
  24. Bird Box Pretty big name cast, Sandra Bullock, Sarah Paulson, John Malkovic etc al, in a thriller where mysterious invisible forces cause suicidal insanity. It was a reasonably decent couple of hours of survival, but slightly unsatisfactory that there's no explanation offered.
  25. After a somewhat frustrating time in the Blackpits I decided to turn the difficulty down a notch, and I'm now making steady progress again.
