For one I think the Random News thread is just spilling over at the moment, plus this is an all-time favourite of mine, so new topic it is. This got leaked/announced last year, and then leaked again yesterday which maf mentioned, but a couple of hours later the official unveiling came indeed via LRG's showcase. Initially I expected a port of the HD version that's avilable on PS360, maybe targeting 4K, the base stuff. So colour me surprised when they showed that they put some real work into this.

 

Visually it got a complete overhaul that still retains and respects the original's look and aesthetic, but improved character models and better lighting are immediately noticeable. Among the new additions there's unlockable costumes, an art gallery, a speedrun mode, an orchestrated soundtrack (hoping that one's optional) and a couple of QOL features like skippable cutscenes and autosave. Supposedly also some narrative content that may or may not have wider implications for the IP but I believe that when I see it.

 

 

Comes out on the 25 June digitally, but on the 12 July there will also be Standard and Collector's Editions available at LRG. This is one of those games where I have long thrown rationality out the window (I have it for the Gamecube, PC, and both digitally and physically for Xbox360) so I will get this one immediately.

Ew, 30fps on Switch, come on UbiSoft. This ran at 60 on the 360. Guess I'll play it somewhere else then.

I don't really find the jump to be worth it - it was totally great before and I don't think it will be greater with this change, it's not THAT impactful for me, shame!

Not the greatest CE, but I'll pick it up. The artbook should be interesting and the packaging is ace. No idea which version though, I usually go with Switch for these but that port is a technical mess.

This looks like a good upgrade cause it doesn't seem too 'revisionist' with its visual adjustments. Stuff like having global illumination just means everything is more grounded and blends together. There's some terrible visual updates out there like FFX which make the characters look worse (but 'sharper') but this sticks to the original artistic direction it seems like. Gives it a slightly lo-fi Pixar look.
