retroed
It was only free for the first 30 days, I think. I have it, but haven't tried it out yet.
retroed
This is 600MSP today, for anyone who doesn't already own it. The Kane & Lynch character pack is now available too, for free.
Hendo
I'm having me some of that for nowt.
Hendo
It's funny. They've mostly done a great job. It starts exactly as Lara ends but I won't spoil exactly what happens, I will say though that there's loads of swearing but using comedy beeps. There's a weird effect over Lynch though, I'm not sure if it's a bug or a result of pulling one character out and replacing her with another. Also, the tutorial stuff still refers to you as Lara. Manicm
Got this today, tbh its good loads better than i expected and played a good few hours today. I have hit a spot where im stuck, to the point where its just frustration taking over so i turned it off! If anyone can tell me where ive gone wrong, would really help me out! Its those balls, i got the first 4 and now im just stuck. Ive got to the room where the room to the right has the artifact in and the the ladders to the left, the door behind me has locked down, and the door on the lower level is also locked down and the ball is behind a gate as well. Just confused and stuck, any help would be good! Normally i give up and don't play games i get stuck on, but this has me intrigued and i want to finish it. Hendo
What's the name of the level? I don't remember that bit but I did get stuck a few times.
Manicm
Its the level after the summoning, you go into the west tomb and the other guy goes east, to try and head off the bad guy. I run along some corridors and get to a room with 8 gaps for balls and a skull style gate, ive got the first 4 balls, then get stuck as i travel up the level to get the others. Ive got the one on the pillar, and the one in the lower pit, and the one just sat in the tilting table area, then i moved on to the rooms where im now stuck. Hendo
Hmm, still not sure where that is. If you can find out the name of the level I'll fire it up later on and have a run through.
Manicm
Hendo, ive found a guide but it doesn't help, im stuck in the room in the second picture the door in/out is closed and the ball is behind bars to the right of the screen: http://uk.guides.ign.com/guides/64033/page_20.html
Hendo
Ah I know the bit you mean now! I would say if you're stuck to quit out and start that level from scratch, use a guide and follow it to the letter. I don't think it's possible to get stuck so you must've just missed an entrance to a room. Try this level guide: Run forward and step on one of the circular pressure panels to get a cutscene. Your task is to find 8 balls and place them on the panels to unlock the gate. One is provided for you. (Ball #1) Your path to the NW is blocked so take the stairs and follow the path to the NE until you see a room. Enter the room to the NE. Deal with any enemies then jump down into the lower part of the room. Flip the switch then move the ball onto the pillar. Place a mine just behind the ball to the SE. Flip the switch again and detonate the mine to knock the ball from the pillar to the upper ledge of the room. Roll the ball out the room and into the central area with the pressure panels. (Ball #2) Climb the stairs again, this time going past the last room and follow the path. After you jump over the gap you'll reach a room with a ball in a cage with a hole in the center. Stand opposite the ball to roll it to the hole. (Ball#3) Keep going to the NW to find a pressure plate to activate. Go through the door to get into a battle. After defeating the enemies, you'll see a Challenge Tomb to the NW. To get the item above the spiked panels, stand on the little raised stone table in front of the spikes and make a spear platform on the wall behind the spiked panels. Run and jump to the platform to get the item then climb down the ladder to the SW to find a weapon. Keep going. At the bottom of the ladder you will find a room with spiked panels. To open the gate holding the stone ball, jump over the first pressure panel and onto the second (labeled X) then run along the panels until you get out. All the spiked panels deactivate so you can easily get the item in the middle. Roll the ball out the door and over a pressure plate to create a new path on the upper level. (Ball #4) | * = Permanent Spiked Panels | ___ ___ ___ | | * | * | * | ^ | |___|___|___|_|_ | | * | _|_X | | |<--Jump over this plate | |___|_|_|___|_|_|___ | | * | | | * | | | * | | |___|_|_|___|_|_|___| | | * | |_|___|_| | * | | |___|___|___|___|___| | | * | * | * | * | * | | |___|___|___|___|___| When you roll the stone ball into the main room with the others, you will have to fight a number of enemies. After the battle run up the stairs on the east side and all the way back to the room with the cage and the hole where you will fight a few more enemies. From here, turn SW and use the wooden panels you activated before to jump the gap. Follow the path avoiding the arrow-shooting barrels and at the top of the stairs, make a spear platform to climb up the wall. Follow the path and enter the room to the NE. Ignore the room itself and just climb the ladders to find a new path and a Challenge Tomb. Follow the path to a new room with a ball surrounded by spiked panels. In this room defeat the enemies then pull the gold lever to lower the spikes. Mine or shove the ball off the spike panels. To complete the mini-objective of getting the ball onto the pedestal, align the ball roughly with the NE corner of spikes then place a mine. If you need to, you can jump onto the pedestal and grab the ball to keep it from rolling off. To continue the level, roll the ball down the circular tube in the NW part of the room. Return to the room you ignored before. You'll see the stone ball you just rolled on the path in front of the room. Roll it into the room and put it on the plate to activate the pillar. Jump on the pillar as it rises then jump to the taller pillar and roll that ball on the ground. If you can't jump in time climb the ball and create a spear platform on the smaller pillar to reach the top of it first. Deal with the enemy that appears then roll each ball down tube to the NW of the room and deal with any enemies that appear. (Balls #5, #6) Keep going past the tube and jump the gap. Follow the path SW for an item. To continue the level turn NW and follow the path until you reach the spiked plates and get the items. To climb the wooden wall make a spear platform from midway up the stairs to get the required height. Follow the path to a new room. Here climb up the wooden scaffolding and grapple the golden ring to wall run and jump over to the wooden scaffolding on the other side. Roll the stone ball onto the pressure plate to release the grate guarding the item. To get the ball past the spikes, roll it as far to the SE as you can then place a mine right behind it. Run back to the pressure plate, step on it and detonate the mine to roll the ball past the last spiked panel. Grapple your way back over to the other side and roll the ball down the path and into the tube.(Ball #7) Return the way you came to the platform with the cage and the hole and keep going to the right. This time take the NE stairs and stand on the symbol on the ground. Trip the switch and ride the pillar up. Grapple the gold ring then wall run and jump to the platform to avoid the wall spikes. Defeat the enemies that spawn here and then place a mine right next to the raised pillar in the NE part of the room. Stand on the pressure plate and when the pillar goes all the way down, detonate the mine so the ball rolls of the pillar. Roll the ball off the platform back the way you came then grapple the gold ring and wall run and jump onto the raise platform (or just jump onto the level below but make sure to avoid the spikes). Trip the switch then grab the ball and roll it back to the room with the cage and the hole in it. Roll the ball down the chute on the south part of the platform. (Ball #8) There should be some balls in cage with a hole in it (depending on how many you rolled into the hole earlier). Roll the balls in the cage into the hole by standing on the opposite side of the cage from them. This should complete the mini-objective Get All the Balls to the Main Room. Return to the main room with all the pressure panels defeating the enemies along the way. Put the balls on each pressure panel to open the skull gate. ------------------------------------------------------------ Mini-Objective: Navigate the Trap Hall on the first attempt ------------------------------------------------------------ This one is tricky, especially the first part with the closing spiked walls. Run forward as fast as you can until you reach the falling floor. Jump from panel to panel until you reach the next section with the spiked walls. In the second section of spiked walls, you will need to run backwards twice. The signal is if the wall ahead of you does not open and the walls to the side of you shake back and forth. The first time you must roll back 1 wall. The second time, right before the end, you must roll back two walls. In the last section spiked balls will fall from the ceiling knocking holes in the floor. The shadows are a bit deceptive as they move a square from where you first see them. The best bet here is to carefully run and jump. If you keep moving you should make it through. This is a difficult mini-objective.
Manicm
Cheers Hendo, just that one puzzle had me bemused i thought it was just a power up puzzle and i could pass it by, but obv not! didn't need the guide for anything else just the tiled puzzle managed the rest on my own, now on to the toxic swamp
Sly Reflex
Well, this is queued up and ready to be downloaded. When do you want to play Mr Dante?
Sly Reflex
Well, this is a bit good isn't it? I wasn't too sold on the first few minutes, it's not a very good start to a game and it's a bit glitchy at points, there has been times where either me or Dante have been in bits of the level not intended to be open to players, which is a bit confusing. I think so far we've managed to nail all the puzzles, some of them have been amusing because we've been able to do them without even conversing on how we should tackle them. We've had some laugh out loud moments too, the one where we had to skip over the rotating ball traps 12 times had me in stitches, as did several other bits that we fucked up for some reason or other. Some of the times you need to do the levels in are a bit much. I'm pretty sure you'd be cutting it fine even if you did everything 100% right. I'm sure it's possible, but fucking hell is that a bit intimidating when you take 30 minutes to do a level and then the game says it can be done in under 4 minutes. Hendo
If you fancy helping me out clean up my remaining achievements on it, and just finish up the game in general, let me know. 2 of them sound ridiculous as to why I haven't got them yet (deflect enemies fire back onto them from the shield, jump from Totec's shield) but the other one is do everything. dante76
To be honest we could probably do the level in 5 min if you took off the ball jumping interlude.
Sly Reflex
No way. That was the best part. All the little tasks it sets are great, often hilarity ensues.
