hinn888
Borderlands Updated to 1500Written Wednesday, February 10, 2010 by Alan Pettit The upcoming third DLC for Borderlands "The Secret Armory of General Knoxx" will include 10 new achievements for an additional 250 gamerscore. This lends credence to their claim of it being the biggest piece of DLC yet, that's for sure. The level cap looks to be raised from 50 to 61 with plenty of new missions, a new car and at least one boss-type character. Color me excited! There is still no price or release date announced for this content, but as we all know, new achievements being posted is usually a sign that things may be sooner rather than later. We'll keep you updated once we hear more. hinn888
Borderlands DLC Suffers Massive (ly Small) DelayWritten Tuesday, February 23, 2010 by Dan Webb With 2K and Gearbox only announcing their Borderlands DLC release date yesterday, you'd have thought it would go 24 hours without a delay, right? WRONG! Although I'd hardly call it a "ZOMG!" delay, the fact remains that today's release of The Secret Armory of General Knoxx is no longer happening. It's due out tomorrow now instead. News comes from the fictional character's Twitter account - yes, Twitter has now officially gone too far - where it states, "well, time tables got all moved around. looks like the invasion is on tomorrow. be seeing you (and killing you!) then." AceyBongos delivered the crippling blow earlier... "So looks like the new Borderlands DLC will be hitting tomorrow after all." So not only do they give the fictional character a Twitter account (Knoxx, not Bongos), they give him the grammar skills of an illiterate unicorn. If such a creature exists of course... and by that I mean an illiterate one. You know, because all the unicorns I've met are like four-legged versions of Stephen Fry. So yeah... Borderlands DLC is now out tomorrow. Heh.

Hendo
Anyone tried the new DLC? I have a dilemma - I've got about 3000 points on my account and I'd like them to last as long as possible so I'm not sure I can afford both so I'm torn between the Zombie Island pack and this one. I'm not interested in Mad Moxxi because the arena bits in the campaign were my least favourite parts, I'd prefer more standard missions. Any thoughts? DANGERMAN
This one raises the cap doesn't it? Zombie annoyed me a bit to be honest, it's very samey. Cant really comment on the quality of the new one obviously
Sly Reflex
I'll get back to you when I try it. Don't ever buy the Moxxi stuff though, it's shit.

I'm not interested in Mad Moxxi because the arena bits in the campaign were my least favourite parts, I'd prefer more standard missions. Any thoughts? right... Zombie Island was good but it was really easy. The only reason I played it so long was cos one of the achievements takes bastard ages. It's essentially just a few extra missions. This new one raises the level cap and there's a couple of new vehicles. It's also really tough! The extra missions seem to have a bit more thought to them aswell. My 2 cents would say get the new one. I've been playing it for a fair few hours and it's proper hard. EDIT - just noticed i've played this game for 74 hours... that's ridiculous! Sly Reflex
It's fucking hard. There is lots of padding in the driving sections going from mission to mission. It's fucking hard. There are not enough side quests to make the main storyline as easy as the main game was. It's fucking hard. The weapon pick ups are pretty good. It's fucking hard. The new vehicles are pretty cool. It's fucking hard Did I mention if was fucking hard? Well I should do again, because it is. It feels like something you would play alongside the main campaign so you can level up and come and trample all over these missions, but you can't because it's so fucking hard. I think it glitch me as well. Also, if you are achievement hunting you want to visit the Marcus Kincaid guy as soon as his place opens. That's because this pimped up Tim Curry look-a-like on crack gives you one of those missions that takes forever. Still, if you really like Borderlands it's worth a punt, as it follows on from admittedly what little story there was on the disc. If you don't want to struggle, you could always invite someone who is a few levels higher than you into the game, I am pretty sure that would level out the difficulty for a bit. TopGunKnacker
what level are you sly? from what ive played of borderlands it seems that after level 40 or so im going to be unstoppable with the skill points i intend to spend
Hendo
How does this new level cap work? Can you then level up in the main game and other DLC packs or can you only level up in this new one? From what I've heard, they made this DLC pack for those who've pretty much gotten all the classes to level 50 and need a new challenge so I can see why they made it tough. Idaho
I'm up to level 54 or 55 i think and it's still pretty tough! and by pretty i mean very. The level cap is just a global increase i believe. I was tempted to do some main quest stuff in the vague hope of levelling up but then couldn't be arsed. The size is a royal pain in the arse. But it is good.
Sly Reflex
I'm about level 52 with my soldier. It appears the Crimson Lance have figured out that people like to use corrosive guns on them, so have changed shield type for some of them to make them somewhat indestructible. Also on your travels, there are signs saying Moxxi's red light 1km and T-Bone Junction 2km etc. However, I spotted one that said "Super Secret End of Game Boss" that just led onto another mission I was doing at the time. TopGunKnacker
im a soldier too, i figured when id made my sentry gun regenerate faster (on its own and by killing enemies), after making it more powerful and giving out health that is, id be unstoppable! DANGERMAN
That's how I've got mine set up, pretty much maxed out everything bar its rocket firing. It's impressive how open the game is to different approaches (even though we're doing it the same )
Sly Reflex
I'm levelled up a bit now, there is one area where you can just whore those kills, even in the vehicle you get 10k EXP from just one, and I have seen a bigger version of one of those that gave me 23k. I just got the achievement about Athena, as not to go into detail and spoil it for others. It's one of the better DLC's I have played. A note to those who open every lootable locker, crate and bin. You might want to take a step back after doing it in this DLC. I know I do now.

TopGunKnacker
That's how I've got mine set up, pretty much maxed out everything bar its rocket firing. It's impressive how open the game is to different approaches (even though we're doing it the same ) im playing it co op (and my partner is hardly on hence the uncharacteristically low gamerscore for it ), and hes a beserker and it works well with the different specialisations. particularly when the special skills come out, hes battering them up close and im stood behind a turret at medium range. in fact it mightve been even better if there were more specialisation with the weapons in general, eg. the beserker has to use shotguns and submachineguns (close range weaps natch) and the soldier uses assault rifles and sniper rifles.
