  1. Cheers for all the advice (and randomness) guys, I think I'll give it a bit more thought before making a decision. I have to agree with Hendo in that online co-op would be awesome, especially with the ds-wiifi and gamestm people. I have a 360 headset sitting there unused, so I suppose by buying a game with great online co-op, I'd be justifying the purchase of my console
  2. I've never really properly played the first two Halo games as I've never had an XBox, but now that I have a shiny new 360, so you think it would be a good idea for me to get Halo 3? I'm sure the single player will be pretty good, but online I'm probably just gonna get taking to school on a regular basis. Am I missing out on too much by not playing the first two?

    Bioshock

Was in Sainsburys yesterday and saw this for 34.99 so couldn't resist buying it. Absolutely loving it so far, never been this immersed in a first person shooter since Deus Ex. Any tips for dealing with the Big Daddies early on? I know later on you get much more powerful weapons but at the moment I'm going at them with only a little bit of Electro Bucks and some ammo piercing armour and they're proving very very difficult. Maybe I'm just a little rubbish

    The Golden Age?

Yeah I might be interested too, I think it's a great topic for discussion. I'll see if I'm free next Thursday.

    Super Paper Mario!

I've just bought a 360 so don't know if I can justify buying this yet! Then again, TTYD is one of my favourite games of all time so I suppose I HAVE to need to buy Bioshock too though....too many games...
  6. Alright guys, some of you may think me sensible, others silly but I'm just back from GAME with my Shiny new premium 360. I wanted an Elite, but their bundles were really rubbish and they said they didn't think Bioshock would be in a bundle any time soon. So I went for a Premium which I'm happy enough with because I'm only going to be buying a 27" LCD so I'm hardly going to notice the difference with HDMI. They had a pretty decent bundle for 279 which includes Premium 360 Extra Wireless Controller Forza 2 Medal of Honour:Airborne They're not my ideal games but I can still get a lot of fun out of them and then trade them in later. I'll keep my eye out for a cheap copy of Bioshock some time this week. Oh and the whole thing only cost me about £100 what with all the traded in games

  8. For me it has to be the Football Manager series, no game has consumed as many hours of my life as them. I dread to think what will happen when Football Manager Live launches....

    Bioshock

sambob wrote: I've not played it (hopefully getting a 360 next week), but I heard there was no multiplayer. They decided to concentrate on the single player and didn't want it to seem like an afterthought...I'm looking at you The Darkness..
  10. Yeah, I think the Elite is probably the way to go. If Microsoft had thrown in some built in Wireless into the package it would have made it even more essential but I hear the ethernet is pretty long anyway and using the cable means less lag online. GAME is doing the elite with Bioshock for £309.99 so with my credit that'll work out at around £150 which is pretty sweet. I'm not going to bother with Blue Dragon, my interest in JRPGs has faded somewhat recently. Also a pretty scathing review here: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=81972 Cheers for the input guys..
  11. Well, I'm pretty much set on getting my 360 now. Once I trade in a few more DS games I'm not playing, a couple of Wii games and some PS2 games that are just gathering dust I should have over £150 of credit in GAME. I've been meaning to get a 26" LCD for ages too, so I figure when I get back to London next week I'm just going to get everything at once. It's like ripping off a plaster, I may as well spend all my money at once instead of prolonging things Only issue now is whether to get the Elite or the Premium (Pro?). I was totally set on the latter but the Elite is a bit more future proof and apparenly less prone to breaking....and it's black..I like black.

    Edge 180 scores

Centy wrote: Can't think of many 3d platformers that did the same thing as Mario 64. And there was nothing like Zelda OOT, surely the greatest game of all time deserves a 10. As for the others, Half Life probably deserves a 10 more than the sequel because it revolutionised FPSs (more so than Goldeneye) and there were very few racing games better than Gran Turismo at the time. But yes, Halo is overrated...

  15. yeah, according to their trade in values they give £25 for Red Steel. Makes sense as they sell it pre-owned for £35 for some reason, most other Wii games are £29.99.

    Edge 180 scores

They've only given 10's to Gran Turismo, Super Mario 64, Half Life 2, Halo and Zelda OOT and I suppose you could argue that all of those games were pretty revolutionary, but there are definitely other games out there that have deserved it...
  17. Was in GAME yesterday trading in some stuff in preparation for getting a 360 when I get back to London. Got around £70 for 4 or 5 old PS2 games and a couple of DS games so I'm pretty happy. Still have a lot to trade in, including £25 for Red Steel There was one disappointment, they only gave me £5 for Dark Chronicle, I've seen it go for over £20 on Ebay, but I've never sold on there anyway...

Does someone have to do Edge up the ass in order to get a good review or something?
  19. Yeah, I know what you mean TopGun, I'm back at my family's home over the summer and Hendo has inspired me to get rid of some games that were just taking up room. I've got loads of PS2 games like SSX on Tour, Killzone, Dark Chronicle (rare apparently) and psychonauts that I'm going to get rid of. I enjoyed them at the time but they just sit there now. Plus I don't play Animal Crossing, Yoshi Touch and Go, Phoenix Wright, Mario and Luigi or Meteos anymore, so I figure if I want a 360 (which I now really really do) I'm going to have to bite the bullett and get rid. And yes, 40 year old virgin is awesome, make sure you go see Knocked Up. I'm going tomorrow, Seth Rogen is a legend...
  20. Yeah, I actually have done and am playing through it at the moment, but quite fancied having a Wii game as an alternative, especially when they're pretty cheap. But yeah, you're right, I probably should stick to Paper Mario! I'm really bad like that, I'll start playing something and then my attention shifts elsewhere. But I know if I start getting into Paper Mario I won't be able to stop, that's what happened with Thousand Year Door
  21. Cheers for the all the input guys, I think it's going to be between Kororinpa and Mercury meltdown and I think I'll plump for the former. But then when both are so cheap (cheers for the bargains ed!) I may just end up buying both!
  22. I need a Wii game to tide me over until Super Paper Mario comes out so I was just wondering which of those three games would be the best buy? I know they're all quirky, accessible titles with lots of replay value but just want to know which one you guys got the most fun out of. They can all be found for around £20 now so price isn't an issue.
  23. TopGunKnacker wrote: Ahhh, getting all teary eyed and nostalgic of the days when I was able to do that! Actually have the time these days but Uni disperses friends all over the place. It seems like the kind of game you could get sucked into for ages, was like that with Smash Bros multiplayer for me.
  24. Totally agree with all the comments, I got this game as soon as it came out and it was just a joy to play from start to finish. You never really got stuck but it was challenging, just a perfect game. Playing through Paper Mario 64 on the VC now, very impressed
  25. Contra IV is gonna rock so hard. Watch the gameplay footage and listen to the soundtrack, it's F-Zero worthy!
