1. I really enjpoyed going through this but I hit a boss a good 35 hourrs in or so which would require epic grinding, I just couldn't be bothered because about 5 - 10 hours before that already did some epic grinding. I think it is good, I really liked the characters in a Disney-ish way but under that is a harsh JRPG, I've tried to get into DQ IV on the DS but a similar thing is stopping me, I just don't have time for this kind of game. I would recomend it to someone that does, not in nasty way, just, y'know..
2. I wasn't online during the time Battlefront was out so it passed me by, offline is a bit crap. I had Div3r too, garbage. FF12, garbage and Pikmin I never really got the hang of. I'm not playing aything retro-ish at the mo, I might rumage about and find something. EDIT. Oh, Battleforce. I dunno what flip that is.
3. It was only with my recent playthrough I discovered that the Scythe kick any boss' ass, I only used it before as a crowd clearing weapon but it is - despite its size - a very effective 1 on 1 weapon. The only boss I still struggle with (bar the final one) is the lightning dude.
4. Nicely put, I felt the same but couldn't really explain it, the music is so much different during that boss fight as well which makes the atmosphere even more awkward.
5. Good work as usual. Just one thing Ben said about Madworld and its sales, I said the exact same thing during Madworld's release on GTM, you'd be surprised how many people disagree. And Hendo made Wii Music sound much better than it ought to be.
6. I think I was misinterprating the term hardcore. It's just that when you hear self-proclaimed hardcore gamers talk about games you get the sense they sneer at casual games or even the dumbing down of games (I get the impression anyway) not taking in the fact that games are appealing far beyond the likes that grace gaming message boards. Maybe these people should be renamed, like bell-ends or something. I now understand what hardcore gamer is but it does still makes you sound like a cock, I call for TGK's games mad term to replace it, it's got a boystrous vibe to it.
7. Do you need the video DLC for that or is there a less versatile editing tool on the disc.
8. I think a game like Cooking Mama lost it's niche appeal when it became incredibly popular, arguably a similar thing may happen to Profeser Layton, you rarely see any interest in the sequel to that too. 'Hardcore' is a tenious label anyway, I see it's meaning but it can be interpreted in alot of different ways, I suppose it can mean all of them but it does come across as elitist and unneeded.
9. I see what you're saying and I totally agree. This 'hardcore' you are refering to that dismiss what on first impressions look like 'casual' games are people that I would consider hardcore at all, I don't want to use that term in this explanation put surely if you have a interest in games you want to see different gameplay ideas and some of these concepts are simple but it doesn't make them less entertaining or even interesting. These people just want to see the same genres regurgatated over and over and I think it's just as unhealthy as - if not more than - the current trend in 'casual' games.

Skate 2

This is bound to be the difficult game to get to grips with I've ever played, it could just me in the mindset of Tony Hawk since it's a skateboarding game and it plays nothing like it. Learning to play this is turning out more fun than I thought, you play one FPS, hack'n'slash or platformer and you've more or less played them all, I have no other gaming experience to draw from to help with Skate 2. I am noticing gradual improvements the more I play (now I can jump and grind on most things without falling on my head) so there is satisfaction but working on some of the challenges I can see I have a long way to go. The way Skate 2 lays out it's challenges will be instantly familiar to any who has played Burnout Paradise with events dotted around a open city and also an identicle co-op challenge mode, the city is much bigger than I expected and is choca with skating oppertunities. I'm going to be sticking with though because when an ambitous sequence does come together it is awesome, though when it goes wrong it can be equally brilliant. The game does reward really nasty bails aswell so even if things don't go right you're still rewarded, I got a decent amount of coin when I front flipped off a three story building.
11. He has a theme tune more malelovent than Darth Vader's, what do you expect?
12. I think the whole plot around the Golden Saucer involving Barret is my favourite, it turns out quite tragic. I think I prefer the first third of the game because it focuses on the characters which are better than most give it credit for, after that it focuses on the global situation which, while epic, doesn't seem as good narrative wise.
13. Yup, I do that too and thats exactly the bit tha gets me. There is a simple pattern and you just go in the opposite way than you naturally think (ones bouncing from the top deflect at the bottom and visa versa) simple in theory but doing it is a different matter.
14. I know it was mentioned in the podcast already but I have been playing Icarian NyxQuest: Kindred Spirits. Yeah, I like it, not as pretty as LostWinds but no munter either and it's just as good when it games to puzzle/platforming, if not better. Another game to gently nod too when the critics complain at nothing decent on WiiWare. I've also been aiding premature arthritis by playing quite a bit of Rock Band Unplugged. It's been quaint playing an instrumentless rythme action game again, not done one since Gitaroo Man and it is as you expect as it follows the same structure as its console brethren, I'm a rock immortal on that so know I'm just playing the remaining gigs when I feel like it. After complaining that I was finding Dishwasher: Dead Samurai to hard I just had a proper sit down with it, 90 minutes later it was finished, I was about halfway through already. I think I just clicked with it and I knew exactly what I should of been doing, fucking loved it, gonna try the harder difficulties next because I started to find it a bit of a cake walk actually. *smug* And now the Shift Blade is one of my favourite weapons in a game ever, teleporting around like a 16bit era cunt boss is brill. I'm sure I've been playing other things (apart from bits of RB2 and Halo 3 but they should just be taken as red) but I can't think what, oh well, there you go.
15. I get what must be right near the end but it throws loads of fast bouncy ones then my eyes roll into my skull and then need a lie down.
16. Even when it's screenshots were released without a name there were reports of it being a new Kid Icarus game. The new name doesn't quite have the same ring to it. I think I prefer this to LostWinds, I keep meaning to go back and finish that where I milked Icarian (or NyxQuest) until it was done, I really enjoyed it. Not that I don't like LostWinds, I do. Oh, and I don't know how to change topic names.
17. This is one of those games I keep meaning to pick up. I really do like its vibe.
18. I don't listen to podcasts, apart from the house one, but since I've been a Destructoid 'follower' for quite a while now I've eventually got round to listening to their Podtoid. If its been mentioned and dismissed before then I apologise. Anyway. The main 'host' who keeps things organized atleast is Anthony Burch who is actually pretty damn good at what he does, other contributers are okay but are mostly there for the banter, apart from Jim Stirling you seems to bound massively from being insightful to failed attempts at moronic humour. I think it's pretty good all in all, maybe something else to slot into your massive list of podcasts when you feel like a change. Burch used to do a section in the podcast or a podcast of somekind called Rev's Rant but he has turned it into video thing so if you don't know who he is then this is the sort of thing he and the others come out with every now and then. <param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344">
19. Listened and liked. I think you've nailed the length, sometimes you feel podcasts go on too long but here you got alot of discussion in a short time without sounding rushed. Apart from that mild dig at Halo you shit (a game which I am well aware of its flaws and exploitation but I will always defend it as one of the most varied and engaging competative games). All was good. Another thing is I think someone other than me would be better to recomend Swords & Soldiers because you mentioned Tower Defence and I think they may have similar traits, I don't know I've never played a Tower Defence game and if they are alike then its a good start point for explaining it to someone, if they're not alike then whatever.
20. If they want more sales maybe a XBLA/PSN version would be a better move?
21. Thanks to Illdozzle's advice I got past Aran. I haven't been using attacks to stop attacks so knowing that made it a piece of cake. I got to the Soda fellow but had to leave, I only had one go at him and I don't think he'll be that much of a problem, just need to be quick.
22. I tried to plug this game a little at GTM, just tried to point out a game they may not of heard of and is worthy of some time, I failed. I'm really impressed with it though. Fucking stuck on level 10, it really does turn into a proper brain scratcher, it's relentless.
23. Killzone 2 is one of the biggest fails when it comes to story ever. The worse thing is there is scope for an interesting story, if you actually look into the Killzone universe there is scope for something interesting. The Helghast are a race who started a needless war and they became the apressed and the ISA (who you play in Killzone 2) became the apressor. It could of been interesting. It nearly was, it wasn't.
