i saw this advertised on the telly last night and was intrigued. Is it worth a pop (ha) then Ed?

I know this is a tired old argument, but i think it depends on the type of the game. Good Achievements can really bring some extra value to a game (orange box, gta etc) whilst some obviously just stick them in because they have to. Obviously it is a matter of opinion, some people hate them, some love them. Personally i like them, although it is obvious from my game score i'm not a total achievement whore..

i think i was the only one that ever did. I like it, but get the patch to fix the lag. Its a shame its the most overlooked part of the OB it is very good.

Do they make a noise if no one is around? I'll D/L the demo and check it out. I'm hankering after another FPS, seems odd to think less than a year ago it was my least played genre of game.

yeah you could do, HL2 is about 13 hours i think. If you make a few different save games you should be ok. There are a few levels where you have to do them in a certain way (i'm treading around spoilers..) there pretty challenging but worth it.

dude, orange box was a bad choice, there is some ace achievement challenges that you'll miss by just playing through the game. esp on half life 2

i think its perfection. Simple as, no other game i've ever played has managed to get all the elements of its parts as right as portal. The only other game that comes to mind if Shadow of the colossus, but there were parts of the game i found frustrating. Portal will be a game i'll come back to and play though time and time again.

well, consider me erect. I can't wait for this. Portal is in my top 10 all time games. I even played it through with the developer commentary..

what, the covers all have different prices on?? i get mine on sub as well so only pay about 3 quid. I also get empire on sub, but i've hardly touched the last 3 issues of it. thinking about swapping it for something else, maybe .net

but still something doesn't sound right, Might be worth wrapping it up and red ringing it?

i was playing this over at a friends house last night and gotta say, really enjoyed it. We had the full four people, and the sense of accomplishment when you are all playing a song in sync is surprisingly gratifying. Almost feels like a real band, if it wasn't for the plastic instruments.. I had a bash and guitar and drums and enjoyed both. The guitar is obviously just guitar hero with a few tweaks, but the drums is something else. Thats going to be my main reason for purchasing it.

I'll give it three weeks and see if your still singing the same tune

i'd be tempted by unreal. I'm guessing it'll be pretty good judging by epics last 360 outing. If its developed in house then i reckon its a safe bet. BTW, i thought this was a PS3 exclusive?..

Absolutely spot on with that point. Hype actually harms more games in the long run as it raises your expectations... but the companies use it as a massive marketing tool. For me GTA is like some slag you meet on the internet. You are really excited about getting your hands on her for ages the more you read about all the great crazy stuff she is gonna do to you. She is promising to be the filthiest ho you have ever had and push the boundries further than anyone elese ever has. You get a boner everytime you read about it (her).. yet when launch day (date day) arrives, she turns out to look nothing like the pictures and yeah she takes it up the ass, but its a fat hairy ass with pimples all over it and once you have shot your load she (its) just the same as any other version of the game... sorry girl.... you have met on the internet just with better photoshop skills. * *not from personal experience I totally just got an erection, can you send me this girls number?

Its Radiohead's 'Just'. Look it up on the tube. My comp time is now 14 seconds with a little more training I hope to be in the top 10. I am just 1/2 a second off of the worlds top time.

I still think it is a fantastic game. The story is the most accomplished that rock* have managed to date, the characters are well fleshed out and it is the most believable sandbox world yet. That said, i haven't actually touched the game this week, i've been playing nothing but GTA for 20odd hours so i've decided to leave it a few days and come back to it. I will finish it though, and i haven't even made a start into the multi yet. It'll defo be staying on my keeper list, i won't be trading it in.

I'm with Hendo-san on this one. Not my bag either. I got bored about half way through the demo, is the whole game essentially just dismembering endless amounts of creepy ninja's? And also i thought Ninja's were ment to be super stealth and the likes, not grinding there way through everything in there path.. Have i missed the point?
