  1. I played Johnny Platform's Biscuit Romp back in January, I really loved it, and tried to pimp it a bit on GameTM and Nowloading. It's a shame that review spoils a few of the puzzles. It's the only one I've bought so far. I've tried groov and Miner : Dig Deep demos, and thought they were pretty good, but I tend to forget about the community games section when I'm on the marketplace.
  2. I'm onto the second world now, and I'm really enjoying it. The presentation and humour have a lot to do with it, as they are both excellent. I like the platforming a lot, it's full of character and the levels feel well designed. The puzzle section is quite easy, but giving you a limited time before you are booted back to the top screen makes you play it a lot quicker. I still often run out of blocks to match before the timer runs out. Having the puzzle mode affect the platforming is pretty good, from making blocks appear in specific places, to giving you engergy, or zapping enemies on the top screen. And the the super mech powerup is a lot of fun. Well worth the £15 it'll cost you on Amazon or Play.com

    Persona 4

Mine never arrived Still, tomorrow is 10 working days since it was dispatched, so I can hassle Game for a refund and go get it from HMV or something.

    Persona 4

God damn Royal Mail haven't delivered my copy yet, despite it being dispatched on Wednesday morning. It's been getting worse and worse recently. On the plus side, I completed Persona 3 today.

    Co-Op

I never really watched the 1Up Show, because I always found my connection to that whole network of sites was so fucking slow. I get around half the download speed for a podcast from 1Up compared to GWJ or Idle Thumbs etc. These new ones via Youtube are much better for that though, and I'm really enjoying the show.
  6. Ben There, Dan That! (PC) - http://www.zombie-cow.com/ Amusing and very enjoyable point and click adventure. It's got great writing, some weird and wonderful locations, good characters, and some knockout dialogue between the 2 main characters. There's a load of great Lucasfilm/Lucasarts references in there too.
  7. This week I've completed: Tag : The Power of Paint (PC) - http://www.thepowerofpaint.com/ This is a freebie first-person puzzle-platformer from a bunch of Digipen students. You're in a greyscale world armed with just a paintgun and a couple of different coloured paints, which have different properties; green lets you bounce, blue lets you stick to surfaces, red gives you a speed boost. The object is to the glowing goal somewhere in each level. It's enjoyable and well thought out, with some well designed environmental puzzles. Emerald City Confidential (PC) - http://www.wadjeteyegames.com/PF.htm I loved this. It's a noir-style point and click detective adventure game set in Emerald City (of Wizard of Oz fame). It's much more story focused than puzzle based, and has some great writing and dialogue. To date: No More Heroes (Wii) Puzzle Quest (Mobile) Day of the Tentacle (PC) 19XX : The War Against Destiny (Acade/MAME) Grim Fandango (PC) Fable 2 + Knothole Island DLC (360) Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble! (PC) http://www.mousechief.com/dhsg/index.html Johnny Platform's Biscuit Romp (XBLA Community Game) Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts (360) World of Goo (PC) http://www.2dboy.com Gravity Bone (PC) http://www.blendogames.com/

    Mass Effect

I recently started a second playthrough using my existing character on Hardcore difficulty, mainly to go and do the Bring Down the Sky dlc. I loved it back in 2007, and I'm really enjoying it again now. I got an achivement for 150 sniper kills the other day after finding a planet populated by a colony of cute little Space Monkeys and using them as target practice. The combat doesn't work for sure if you play it like a shooter, especially against enemies that rush you. I hang back, use cover, use the sniper rifle to pick off targets and make use of choke points so that enemies that rush you get bunched up. Then I use my Tech ally to sabotage their weapons or damp biotic/tech abilities, and my Biotic ally to throw them back, or lift them all in the air with Singularity making them sitting targets. Sniper accuracy gets better with more points in the right skills, better weapons, and better upgrades. Also, don't try and aim it like you would a first person shooter, just nudge it in the right direction.
  9. I got the given the choice to see the ending, or the real ending after completing the game at the weekend. I haven't finished the real ending yet, but I read up about it, and it seems you get it by buying all the Beam Katanas from Naomi. Apparently, if you've got a clear save you can go and buy them and it will unlock without having to complete the game again.

    Scary games

I've never been good with scary games, I tend to avoid them now. They don't really scare me other than the occasional jump (e.g. The dogs in Resident Evil), but I just find some of them create a tension that eventually I find unbearable. I'm fine with scary films/books etc, it's just games that have this effect. Doom 3 was one of the worst, I played an hour until I just felt too uncomfortable to continue. I never had any problems playing Eternal Darkness, though.
  11. Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble on PC. http://www.mousechief.com/dhsg/index.html. I played the demo for an hour, then went and bought the full game. It's a charming RPG-lite/Boardgame with a nice sense of style, and good sense of humor. Well worth trying.

    The Maw

I was looking forward to trying this when I got from work last night, only for my internet access to go down for 12 hours. It seems fate wanted me to be forced into watching hours of taped Hollyoaks and Home & Away episodes instead
  13. I completed the XBLA Communtiy Game Johnny Platform's Biscuit Romp last night. It's a really well made retro-styled platformer, and only 200 points.
  14. I really need to get back to P3, I last played it just before christmas, with 2 in-game weeks to go until the final battle. (And almost 90 hours on my save game!) Without trying to spoil anything, the music and atmosphere completely changes after a certain event later in the year, I thought it was really effective and loved it.
  15. Yes, it's deliberate. Although I've only finished 2 and half out of the 4 discs, does that make me a fraud? I will finish it one day, when I remember which of my saturns is the one that works.
  16. Hello all you boys and girls.
