Uncle Dokuro
Word on the street (via shopto) is that an updated version is coming to Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Shopto was correct. Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition is coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on October 14, 2014 and comes with a art book if you pre-order it. No word on a PC version. AndyKurosaki
While it'll be great fun to replay it on ps4, I'm not up for paying full price for it.
Uncle Dokuro
While it'll be great fun to replay it on ps4, I'm not up for paying full price for it. If it is anything like the Tomb Raider Definitive Edition it will be $39.99 in a few months after release. I'll pick it up then.
AndyKurosaki
Yeah, if it releases at £30, i'd be tempted, I never played any of the dlc either. Bit strange they're putting it against the GTAV remaster. Though to be fair, they're both brilliant games. I'd say SD had a more fun main character to piss about with. Trevor was ace. But Michael was a miserable bastard. And Franklin? Meh.
AndyKurosaki
So this came out yesterday. It looks pretty damned good on PS4. An excellent game, now even better looking. Smacking people into fans and tables never gets old.
DANGERMAN
I played it a bit today and Play Expo, I'm not sure it's any better looking than the pc version was, certainly not noticeably, but I'm sure I was playing some of the dlc. The dlc was mostly pretty good so that's a nice surprise, not that I'm going to be buying it, but I did love Sleeping Dogs
AndyKurosaki
Not played any of the dlc, or the PC version. But it certainly looks a bit nicer than the PS3 version. And of course that was awesome. Maybe someday they'll properly make a sequel to it. Instead of the self-destructing Triad Wars.
DANGERMAN
Yeah, it's a great looking game, played really smooth too. And yeah, the least surprising thing in gaming will be when Triad Wars isn't a success. Hopefully they still do a proper sequel
Hendo
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2014-sleeping-dogs-definitive-edition-face-off I was most surprised to find out that the new versions look better than the original on PC. I thought it would be on par as the original maxed out looked pretty damn good. Some framerate problems, though 25 isn't too bad. Is this a budget title? AndyKurosaki
£35 on Amazon. So not totally "budget" no. About the same price Tomb Raider was.
Craymen Edge
I was most surprised to find out that the new versions look better than the original on PC. I thought it would be on par as the original maxed out looked pretty damn good. Some framerate problems, though 25 isn't too bad. Is this a budget title? It appears that the Definitive Edition has new lighting and various other tweaks that weren't in the 2012 version on PC. The rest of it uses the PC high definition textures and increased world density, so if those visual changes are improvements it ought to look better by default. The performance hit on consoles is a bit of a letdown though. It's £20 on Steam but 50% off if you own the original. That's a decent upgrade price, but to me it doesn't really look worth buying again if you've played the original. But if you haven't played it, it's well worth getting on PS4/Xbone, I really liked it on PC.
AndyKurosaki
It's definitely worth playing, it's just as fun second time round. Only now the Pork Buns look jazzier.
Hendo
Got it cheap on 360 download, got it cheap today on PS4 download. Something like 17 gig in size but even after that hefty download the menu in game still says installing but you can start. Unfortunately, you can only get about 15 minutes in before it boots you back to the main menu and then wait to finish installing. Still, looks great. AndyKurosaki
Yeah, all this installing lark is a pain in the arse. Nearly filled my hard-drive as it is. Should get back into this at some point really.
Hendo
Sam watched me play earlier. For reference, Sam, here are the differences. Not a massive difference, it always looked good. For my money the Xbox One version looks a bit too dark though?
