  1. Personally I think ONM's score of Drawn to Life is spot on. The only good thing about it is that you can draw stuff. The actual game is shit. This month's ONM also has a feature on Mode 7, and the next best game in the world ever is Zack & Wiki. Mathers reviewed Dewy's Adventure, and he is normally correct IMO. Free stuff: Zelda metal Hylian Crest pin badge, and Mario & Sonic decals.
  2. Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix HD screens. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2025/171678...635503dd1_o.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2220/171678...bfe7a1255_o.jpg Looks absolutely amazing, I cannot wait for this. (also coming to PSN)

    New TV

Cheers all. Well I've had a little tinker with it and Freeview doesn't look too bad now, although it's nowhere near as nice as my Toshiba CRT. This was to be expected, though. DVD looks very nice via RGB, better than I thought it would. I am yet to try component as I don't have any leads. The 360 via 720p HDMI, however, looks SUPERB. No screen tearing or blurring that I have noticed so far (I have tried PGR4, Halo 3 and Pac-Man CE), and on the whole I am more than impressed. It really does look pretty darn amazing. So sharp. I am yet to try the Wii, but I shall be buying a component cable for it as I've read that's the best way to go. Shin, I've read that quite a few of the VC games have had updates that support component? If not, I'm not overly bothered as I don't have a great deal, and could always switch back to composhite(!) if need be. This TV does have a backlight, so the blacks are not as black as they could be. It looks fine on the 360, but on freeview it's a bit more obvious, although not so bad that it is unwatchable. You notice the backlight when you look at the TV from a wide angle, as the picture seems quite bright. Viewing straight on as you should be though, it is fine. Overall I don't think you will find a better 37" LCD TV for four hundred quid (or 32" for 300).

The question is, will Super Mario Galaxy be the third EDGE 10 in as many months?

    New TV

My Hannspree 37" LCD HDTV arrived today! I haven't had chance to play with the settings much as of yet, but I'm pretty darn impressed with it out of the box. A bargain TV for 400 notes. 360 is HDMI'd up, and I need a Wii Component cable now. If anyone wants a Joytech 360 RGB Scart or Wii Official RGB Scart, I'm your man! Excuse the mess, and say hello to Alfie!

    PGR4 [360]

Wow, popular game huh? This is the only game I've been playing for the last couple of days, and it's an absolutely superb racer. I'm having a great time with it, and am finding it pretty hard to find fault in anything it does. Controls great, looks great, excellent tracks once you have given it a bit of time, and the weather effects are amazing; they really change the way the car feels on the track. The bikes are fun to ride too, although I'm spending the majority of my time in cars. If you like your racers but are put off by hardcore simulations, then this is for you. It's in between and arcade racer and a sim, but there's no tuning and altering the cars last details, just choose your ride and drive. And then there's the Kudos system, which for those who may not know, gives you points for pulling off smart moves (drifting around a corner, popping a wheelie on a bike etc). These Kudos are your currency that you can buy more vehicles with. Excellent game, so far my favourite on 360, and one of my favourite games of the year. Sadly it looks like PGR 4 is being overlooked, what with it being released fairly soon after Forza 2, and the onslaught of other 360 games that have come out/are coming out.
  7. A guy at SUMO on rllmukforum in response to there being no online play for Wii version:
  8. Gameplay.co.uk have this for a bargainous £26.99 on the 360. £29.99 at Blockbuster and GAME. Buy it!
  9. I've got a tip Hendo, try the original GBA version of Advance Wars. It's a lot easier to get into in my opinion, and while the DS version did add some extra stuff, in turn I think it took something away from the gameplay. Advance Wars GBA is pretty much as good as it gets for turn based strategy. I don't really play a lot of Turn based or RTS games, but Advance Wars is up there for me, it's fun and great for the pick up and play for 5 mins, or play for hours thing. There are a few good'uns on the PSP apparently. Jeanne D'Arc being one I hear a lot of praise for, and Final Fantasy Tactics.
  10. Well I played this a fair bit yesterday, and I'm now at the third (Sun) Temple. I've also been to a hidden island where, once you've solved the puzzle on it, you get to play a game that involves hitting targets for points. It reminded me of Diddy Kong Racing, but was pretty fun nonetheless, and I kept on until I beat the high score. I'm having a great time with Phantom Hourglass. It's no secret that I'm not the biggest fan of the 3D Zelda's, so I feel right at home here. I love being able to annotate the maps, it puts you into the game a bit more and can be incredibly useful. True, it's not been the most challenging Zelda thus far, but I can say with confidence that this is my favourite Zelda since A Link to the Past on the SNES. Big thumbs up from me, it's everything I wanted it to be.
  11. http://gamerscoreblog.com/team/archive/200.../15/553957.aspx w00t, I'll be getting Speedball 2. I won't be using the 3D option, though. Hell no. Oh, and other news I saw on rllmuk forum (no source)
  12. The Metroid Prime 3 preview channel is now up in PAL land apparently, for those that actually give a toss.
  13. Mine arrived today, w00t! I can't wait to get stuck into it. Karen's working the next three nights, so I know what I'll be doing when I go to bed.
  14. I've been playing this a little bit, whilst waiting for PGR4 to arrive, and it's a superb game. The graphics are very impressive, and it controls excellently once you get to know how Sega Rally plays. This game will sit very nicely next to PGR4/Forza2, when you just feel like having a quick blast for 5 or 10 mins. It has that just one more go thing going on, mind.
  15. Phooey wrote: Yeah, I can get this bundle for £110 delivered. I'm mighty tempted. Good job I don't have the funds currently, I guess, as I really don't need it.
  16. MovieTyme can be a bit slow at times. My Pokemon Pearl came just days after release, but I have had a couple slow'uns in the past. Their warehouse is in Croydon, south London, which is where they have been having unofficial strikes, so that won't help either. I've been getting post pretty much all week, so it's not my postie's fault.
  17. Ooooh... Ltd Ed. Zelda Phantom Hourglass DS Lite. Not mine, btw. And why isn't it gold! According to THIS eBay ad: NO MAJOR RETAILER WILL BE ABLE TO PURCHASE THESE, ONLY OUR PURELY INDEPENDENT GAMES SPECIALISTS! MAKING IT EVEN MORE DIFFICULT TO GET HOLD OF!

    Super Metroid

My UK PAL versions had the subtitles in the intro, but that's the only place, from what I remember at least.

    Super Metroid

I've owned the big box Super Metroid twice. Once from new, and a mint second hand one I got on eBay a couple years ago. The first I sold way back in the day, probably for just a few quid, and the second I sold a while back when I needed some cash fast (got 30 quid for it). It's the pinnacle of the Metroid series without a doubt, and one of the best games ever.
  20. It's definitely one of the best SNES games, nay games, ever. I'm not sure if I'll download it as I think I have the US cart lying around somewhere. But to those that haven't played it before it's a must have. My favourite Metroid, before they went to crappy 3D.

    The Orange Box

Phooey wrote: Do it! I just read the IGN review and watched their Video Review. This has jumped right up my list to being a must-have. It may have to wait a while though, I have so many games on my plate at the moment, and ordered PGR4 last night. I've never played a Half-Life game, despite numerous people telling me to, all the time. It's superb value for money!
  23. Just noticed that there are 8 different covers this month, one for each Zelda game. I got Minish Cap.

    PGR4 [360]

Well I downloaded the PGR4 demo (1.27GB ), and it's bloody amazing! There are 3 cars and 2 bikes to choose from, along with a selection of race modes and the Nurburgring snow challenge. It tracks all your best times via Live, so you can see how you're doing against your mates and the rest of the world. I'm using bumper-cam for the cars, but with the bikes I am using the closer external view, as it's the only one where I can begin to control them half decent. I'm having a blast, and it looks gorgeous. The game seems to control almost perfectly. I can't say how it compares to Forza 2, as although I have it, I haven't gotten round to playing it yet. Anyways, I've placed my order via this eBay seller for £29.99 delivered. It's the Asian version, but is region free and has english box, manual and text. I've had this double confirmed by a few people who have already bought their copy from Play-Asia (which Microsoft have appeared to have now stopped from shipping to EU). You can check out http://pgrnations.com/ for lots more info on the game, and online stats. There are a couple reviews over at MetaCritic, where it is currently averaging 86%. Interestingly, IGN UK gave it a 9.1, whereas IGN US gave it an 8.1. And of course, the full game will have the new Geometry Wars on it!
