  1. Parasite Eve was the (kinda) sequel to the book Parasite Eve. All the mitochondria weirdness comes from there. The game references the book several times.
  2. I prefer this to KH3, I found that game utterly disappointing story-wise until the last couple of hours, and the Frozen and Big Hero 6 worlds were awful. I don't actually remember much else about it. I've just finished hard mode on this, and I did not enjoy that final fight at all thanks to the bullshit aggro mechanics. Just got a few more trophies to mop up and that's the platinum.
  3. I pretty much agree with all of that. The only thing I can confirm is COVID-19 had nothing to do with the lack of polish toward the end, there was no lock down in Japan so work would have continued as normal. I think it was was lack of experience with Unreal Engine 4. Hopefully a few patches will sort it out over the next few months.

  8. Nah, Maguire is a piece of shit. My friend used to work in a coffee shop in Canada frequented by celebs filing up there. Maguire came in with his entourage and started talking about a Make A Wish Kid he just met. Kid wanted to meet Spider-Man, so the foundation got in touch with Maguire who went to meet the kid. The kid said something like "I'm glad I could meet you Spider-Man" and Maguire started laughing and said "I'm not Spider-Man". Apparently he was laughing his ass off while he recounted the story in the coffee shop. I get actors need to disassociate their characters from their real selves, but maybe don't laugh in a dying kids face while you do it?

I think something like Monster Hunter manages difficulty increase perfectly by not just increasing enemy HP, defense, and attack power, but my slightly changing behaviour and attack patterns, as well as adding new attacks. I get that it's unfair to compare the two as MH is literally built around that mechanic, but it's a good example of how to do difficulty increase well. Increasing enemy HP, defense, and attack power as well as handicapping the player is not good design, especially when the games version of aggro is "smash the player controlled character into the ground". I've already said it but the harder difficulty makes the issues with combat far more obvious. It's still a great game, it could just be better in regards to how difficulty handles combat. Even adding an extra magnify materia or two would help tip the balance slightly.
  10. The worst kind. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets patched out at some point, the difficulty needs a bit of a rebalance.
  11. The closer I get to the end of this game on hard mode the less convinced I am I'll be able to get the platinum.

  14. That's Chapter 11 finished on hard mode. I agree about the cutscenes in the fights 100%. I've said it before but they break the flow of combat (and re-position your party), and if you get HP down enough to change phase you lose what stagger meter you've built up. And that, in a word, is bullshit. I genuinely hate the cutscenes in the fights and really hope they get a 'skip' option patched in.
  15. That's chapter 9 on hard mode done. I'm really annoyed with it to he honest, I needed to unlock the other question chain (not The Party Never Stops) to get the trophy and the manuscripts, but it game me TPNS again, so I have to do it all AGAIN (including Hell House ?) if I want the manuscripts. I did manage to get the Dancing Queen and record collection trophies this time though so there's that. Downed the first boss on chapter 10 with no issues and managed to get some more footage for the video jm making so I should hopefully get that finished later tonight.
  16. I'd love to see a remake of The Legend of Dragoon. The original is one of my favourite games on the PS1, and although it still holds up pretty well there are a few changes that could be made to make it even better. Obviously there's graphics and sound, but I'd like to see a tweaked combat system and the option to turn off transformation animations and spell animations as they go on for far too long.
