I honestly don't think anything happened when I did it😄. Might be for those with a 120hz telly. -
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition

I'm playing San Andreas. Put it on Performance mode on the X and it's running great. Maybe a definitive trilogy thread would do the trick. -
Is there any way to turn traction control on for individual cars rather than in the main options window?

Bethesda for me, then ninja theory. You see, it is debatable,😃
-
That's debatable, to say the least.

Done all that. Much more fun. My cars are flying all over place😄 Turned up the difficulty 1 notch from default. Might go up another notch as the wins are still fairly easy. But, yeah, as nag says, you do don't want to ruin it with mad difficulty while you're in training. After a week or so I'll probably just want to race against real people.

As a novice, what's a good set up for the initial difficulty options? I'm talking about all this ABS stuff and traction. I have a feeling that if I turn a lot of help type things off, I'll have less control but go faster. And I have a need for speed. I sort of want to switch if the blue line, too, as I'm missing the scenery.

I'm rather excited about San Andreas. This game is part of my unholy trinity - the three adult games I was told to try by friends when they found out I'd bought one of my kids a playstation for Christmas. Having never been a gamer I stupidly gave them a whirl when the young'un had gone to bed. Been gaming ever since. The others the trinity are Resi 4, and Sands of time, by the way. The depth of nostalgia I'm starting to feel about driving around a freshly minted San Andreas is surprising even me.

That's true. I've been having a slow playthru of Oblivion, and it really is just the game as it initially appeared on the Xbox, although the way it plays on the X is just great. With gears 5 you have to have Ultimate to play hivebusters, which I found out the other day, because I just bought a basic month to play plague tale (which morphed into a go of Gears 5, when I decided I couldn't be bothered with a heavy stealthier). When this month runs out I really need to do one of those gold-upgrade-to-gamepass hacks. Edit. Having thought about it, tho, I think Maf is right. This feels like a new release by an in-house dev. It feels like it should be day one on gamepass, as Microsoft advertises the service.

Dammit! Sounds so simple now that you say it.

Is there anyway to just have a race online on one of the career race courses. For the life of me I just couldn't work out how to do it in 4. When I went online it was just weird. Not Mario kart stylee at all.

Interesting. So you can pay to get an early 'day 1'. Not exactly the terms Microsoft have set out in their gamepass spiel. Excuse me while I contact my lawyer.

I thought this released on the 9th. Is it tomorrow now?

Well, I haven't played judgement, and I won't be playing that RTS one, because I don't understand those games. I'd say that 1, 2 and 5 were equally the best (bearing in mind that I played the remake of 1) Then 4, and then 3 because at the end you had to run around finding ammo for the hammer of dawn, which made no sense. Actually, apart from that it was great!

Done. I just had to equip boomshot to take his tonsils out in one hit to stop my teammates getting sucked in to wormy oblivion. Rather shockingly that turned out to be the end. What happened to Act 5? Although, to be honest, I was starting to wonder where the thing had left to go after Act 4. My trigger finger is still swollen. Yeah, bloody great entry into the series. Maybe my favourite. Could have taken another 10 hours of skiffing around finding shit. Magnificent.

Holy shite. Not that I'm averse to a challenge, but some of the battles in act 4 are way beyond what I've experienced before in this series. It's pure mayhem. Half the time I'm running around trying to resuscitate my bleeding' team. And now I'm on this boss battle against a worm from dune and the cockney guy keeps getting sucked in and causing a game over. Stoopid git. It's so tough I've had to take break.

Hivebusters? Yeah, I was going to treat that as a standalone game. Looks meaty. You have to hand it to these in-house developers, don't ya. That time and money they have access to really brings a stamp of quality that pushes the envelope. I'm still just watching cutscenes in this and missing the dialogue as I drool over armour texture and such. I'm one of those long time Sony gamers who took notice when Microsoft bought Ninja Theory, and then had no choice when Bethesda fell. God knows what those games are going to look like, especially the Ninja Theory one. I'm a graphics whore😭

I think that might have been the toughest challenge in the whole gears saga up to now, for me anyway, although mainly because I think the general difficulty in this iteration has been a bit lower than usual, and I wasn't ready to be facing something with a 1 hit kill ability. Still, it was satisfying to see it tumble, eventually! Such a great game. And technically flawless up to now. I can only think of one other game that feels this solid, where the 'weight' of the action feels just right - God of War. Even Kait is just right. Not as heavy as Marcus and not as lightweight as JD.

I remember stopping playing Dead space when it first came out because it was just freaking me out. I got thru it (and it's sequel) thru gamepass over the last year. I've heard it said that jump scares are easy in horror, but it takes something more refined to creep the player/viewer out by virtue of atmospherics and good writing. Personally, I've never been scared by a location in a videogame, no matter how well drawn in its degradation. I'm only really scared when the beasties show up. And Dead Space is probably the king of nasty surprises when it comes to beastliness.
