Yeah it’s a great show. Recently got into it thanks to the fiancé, absolutely love it. Jim is the best.

I’ve always tried my best to keep an open mind on most genres and have tried almost all of them at this point. There’s not many I’ll actively avoid. I think lately the only ones I’ll avoid are some Sports games (WWE, Madden NFL, NHL etc.) and RTS games. I have played a few RTS’ over the years but none have really clicked with me, I think the last I tried to get into was Company of Heroes when I first got my PC 6 years ago and I just couldn’t do it, have tried previously with Halo Wars on 360 too. I do own a few Total War games on PC (not sure if these are RTS or TBS though) so I’ve really no excuse, I’ve also always wanted to properly get into Civ but just never quite managed it, I think I played Civ V when it first came out but didn’t get very far before giving it up. Management style games, god games and Tycoon games I don’t really have the time for along with 4X games too. I do like them but I just haven’t got time for anything without an end goal these days really.

Started this today on Stadia, finishing the first Chapter. It’s ok. As others have said it does have an Inside/Limbo vibe to it but my biggest issue with it so far is how simplistic it is. It just doesn’t have much going for it in terms of the way it plays, you go from room to room solving very simple puzzles and that’s about it really. It has a weird creepy atmosphere about it and is a little eery, you seem to be on some weird boat filled with strange monstrosities, everything’s just a bit odd, there is a darkness to it too as others as mentioned which hits close to home at times, they don’t pull punches with some of the subject matter. These things are pretty much the best things about the game so far. I’ll keep playing as I’m intrigued enough to know a bit more about this world and it’s meant to be quite short but I must say I’m a little disappointed in it so far.

This is one of my favourite games of all but for some reason I’ve never played the DLC - Left Behind. Having just finished FFX HD and with just over 2 weeks until TLOUP2 I decided the time was right to rectify that. Going in I didn’t know an awful lot about it It was just great to be back in this world again after 7 years as well. The graphics still hold up really well, this was the first time seeing the game run in 4K and it was glorious. Some of the facial details don’t hold up today and look a little wooden but everything else feels still holds up very well today, I honestly can’t believe how good the animations are for a 2013 game, it’s pretty crazy how ahead of the curve ND were with this. There are a few weird graphical anomalies around the faces from time to time which is a little jarring but that’s the only noticeable issue I saw. So yeah, really can’t recommend it enough. It’s short at just over 3 hours so no reason not to give it a go, I wish I’d played it earlier as it gives even greater context to the ‘Winter’ Chapter of the main game. Pics:

I put around 10 hour into the original game but it was so sterile and devoid of fun that I gave up on it at that point. Never picked up 2 but I am tempted to try this. After playing Grid recently it’s rekindled my love of racing games.

Can one of the mods change the title so it actually spells the games’ name right?

Yeah it’s confirmed for Xbox @mfnick, I did try and find the neutral trailer before I started the post but could only find the PS branded one.

That’s fair enough @Nag, I got burnt out on Odyssey towards the end of my time with it and couldn’t bring myself to 100% it. I never did play the DLC for either Origins or Odyssey despite buying the Gold/Ultimate Editions either ? not gonna bother for Valhalla. At first they said Valhalla was as big as Origins and then they’ve since said it’s bigger than Odyssey so who knows ? I’m not 100% on this but I’m sure I read that the Valhalla Director said you explore the whole of Britain and a huge swathe of Norway which sounds ridiculously big.

Up to 10 hours played on this now and things have got much better since I’ve reached Guar Plains. It’s just such an impressive place to explore, reminds me of the first huge area you encounter in XC2. Absolutely humungous this place as well, set off exploring the entirety of it before I did anything of not and it just seems to go on and on! Did a ton of side quests and exploring before carrying on with the story, a whole new load of side quests opened after this so that’s about where I am now. Still exploring around the Plains. I picked up my 3rd party member during my last session and she seems pretty great so far too, very handy in battles with all her healing abilities too. I will say the combat has got better too, it’s thrown some new mechanics into the mix since I picked up ‘the’ sword and has got quite a bit more complex which is nice. Pics:

Total bollocks I’m afraid. I’m glad I left the cult of Stirling many moons ago. They made a huge game with a ton of stuff to do and expect the player to do some of it, if they don’t want to do it they have a solution to that. I don’t like the MTX being in there in the first place but it’s never even needed if you play a modest amount of the side activities and quests. Imagine playing Yakuza and only mainlining the story, it wouldn’t happen. There is no grinding to be done, it’s total shite. They’ve had MTX in their games for many years, they had it in AC4:BF back when I played it in 2013, Stirling just likes to piss and moan to get his viewers riled up and believing his bullshit. It’s nothing but click bait negative shite filled with lame catchphrases, people fall for it hook line and sinker ever time.

Well yeah, you were doing the hunts and side stuff which is why you were a few levels above. How you know the content in this isn’t interesting? ? I didn’t think you’d played it.

I don’t know who that is @one-armed dwarf but the game expects you to engage with the side content to a modest degree. If you don’t want to then this isn’t really the game for you in the nicest possible way. For me, AC games - the newer RPG ones and Black Flag in particular - have always been about exploration, the stories are never the reason to take a seat at the table for me. It’s an RPG, a lot of RPGs expect you to engage with the side content. Witcher 3, Skyrim, Mass Effect etc. All expect you to engage with the side content, it’s no different here. In Witcher 3 if you mainline it you’ll hit a roadblock and have to go off doing side activities and quests, it’s no different.

I know but up to Guadosalem I thought he was a good dude that would help you fight Sin or something. It’s only when he starts getting creepy with Yuna that I came to suspect he’d be a bad guy. Got FFIX on PS4 unfortunately @one-armed dwarf
