  1. So many too choose from and my choice of favourite will change from day to day.. But a few of my absolute favourite moments from the greatest thing to ever have graced a TV screen... A Fish Called Selma And this episode has the wonderful running gag about Troy and his strange fish fetish - 22 Short Films About Springfield So many wonderful moments in this, but the bit that still shocks me with its pure genius is the mini sketch "The Principal and the Superintendent" But in terms of a best episode, in so much that for 22 minutes i can genuinely say it's impossible to look away from the screen, it has to be Last Exit to Springfield. This is the episode that has the brilliant "dental plan" gag along with the hair tingling Mr Burns' Suess rhyme. Sublime. And yes, I'm a Simpsons geek

darkglobe80 wrote: well i am now addicted to this in 2p wifi mode. basically, you get matched to an opponant, then you have to get your progress bar to 100% before the other player, by solving puzzles. it seems to be between 3-5 puzzzles that make 100%, i havn't worked out how that gets decided. but the really clever bit is that if you make a mistake your screen will freeze for 3 seconds, which means they get an advantage. its a brilliantly fair system and i've had some cracking battles already, though damn me, the japanese are bloody awesome at the game! this is up there with 42 all time classics and tetris ds in terms of outstanding wi-fi multiplayer-ing-y-ness!

and you can draw your own picture on the touch scrteen and the game will make it into a valid and logical picross puzzle! how awesome is that? anyway, this probably should be moved into the impressions bit i reckon mods

aww. it has 2p wi fi battles too, though i've yet to venture into that, though i can't see how a "battle" mode of picross works, maybe first to complete it wins?

    Picross (All Versions)

Well this turned up today. Thanks to this page, the scary japanese menu's were no problem at all. I have already managed to download the 2 bonus packs from Marios Picross from the wi-fi service. The game itself is just how Marios Picross was, you get time penalties for errors, you get a chance of a hint at the beginning and there seems to be loads of puzzles too. If you like Picross/Griddlers/Hanjie/nonogrids/whatever you want to call them, then don't let the jap put you off as this is still very playable
  7. Damon Albarns new band, featuring Simon Tong from the Verve, Tony Allen on drums and the Clash Bassist, Paul Simonon! It is a stunningly wonderful album, it will take a couple of listens, but boy is it worth it. One of the best albums of the last few years IMHO! How does Albarn do it? First Blur, then Gorrilaz and now these... Genius. http://thegoodthebadandthequeen.net

nope, not that I could find. I don't think it's likely to either, most of the DS uzzle games have been out for a couple of years in japan and havn't been translated This looks awesome though, it has downloadable patterns via wi-fi
  12. I just ordered this - http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/axpj/index.html?link=txt Can't wait to get it, I loved Mario Picross 1 and 2 for GB. Hope the Menus aren't too complicated. Anyone know of sites that have translations for game, esp this one? Thoughts will go up once it comes

    Mario Kart 64

just to add, for a gamecube pad (i use a wavebird) - A - Go B - Stop L - weapon (hold to hold a green/red shell/banana/box) R - hop Z - seems to turn the music on or off... holding the C-Stick to the right - changes HUD display and aye, its great!
  14. Hurrah, another pointless list no-one will read 1. Super Mario World (SNES/GBA) - Incredible level design, wonderful timeless graphics and simply astounding gameplay that will simply never be bettered 2. LoZ : Twilight Princess (WII) - A refinement of an already perfect game, this is here instead of OoT because it is everything that game was, but perfected beyond belief. And the implementation of the Wii is another sign of Nintendos genius 3. LoZ : A Link To The Past (SNES/GBA) - Much like SMW, this is simply a perfect game, that rewards you the more you replay it with its beeps and tings and stunning design 4. Super Mario 64 (N64/DS/VC) - Still the only 3D platformer to truely work, breathtaking and the game that changed the way every devolper makes games 5. Yoshi's Island (SNES) - A perfect example of how Nintendo can refine and perfect a stale old genre with sheer brilliance of style and design. Timeless 6. Tetris DS (DS) - The best and most addictive puzzler, once again refined and perfected on the DS 7. Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES/GBA) - The game that introduced so many elements of todays gaming standards. It feels like a game made up of experiments, it's the gaming equivilant of The Beatles White Album 8. LoZ : Link's Awakening DX (GBC) - An incredible game, that is even more incredible when you realise the system this was made for. Crams everything thats perfect about ALTTP then adds more humour and is still brave enough to disregard the whole Zelda story 9. Pokemon Gold/Silver (GBC) - The main thing with this, bearing in mind you have read everything there is to read about the franchise, when you think you have completed the game, you get the entire Red/Green world to play with. Yet another exapmle of how Nintendo take an already perfect template then refine it to go beyond perfection 10. Wii Sports (WII) - The best launch title ever? (TP being higher up may contradict this, but meh, this was the real Wii launch game) A game that shows off what its host console is all about, and opens the way for people who would never touch a Dual Shock to come on in. Wonderful style, incredible control and a stunning glimpse of the future. There we go, the definitive list if ever there was one, feel free to question some of those entries (or more precisely, omissions...)

    The Virtual Console

the virtual console has been a bitter dissapointment thus far. over priced poor versions and so little content. this weeks update is an insult really. but hey, this is Nintendo of Europe!!! i really should be used to this by now.

    WarioWare : Smooth Moves

it's great. makes you appreciate how brilliant the remote is. but god damn it's short. i've just completed the last nicrogame not impressed with that really, theres a few unlockables i've yet to get and havn't touched multiplayer yet, but there are no toys like on the DS version which is a shame. i would struggle to recommend anyone paying full price for this (i paid £33, at least £8 too much) poor show really from nintendo here. great game, but far far far too short and so overpriced.
  18. First and quick impressions? Its damn funny. Goats, cats, toilets and indeed hula hoops... more games should have this bizzare combination of stuff. I'll whack more here when I've played it more

    The Virtual Console

some good games coming, hoo ray! however, this paragraph scares the shit out of me - Virtual Console games range in price from 500 Wii Points for NES games to 800 Wii Points for Super Nintendo games and 1000 Wii Points for Nintendo 64 games. Wii points required for titles available in 2007 may vary. Wii Points Cards are available to buy in retail stores and are estimated to retail at around €20 (£14) for 2000 Wii Points. In the Stars Catalogue smaller fractions of Wii Points will also be available. You see, from that paragraph and knowing NoE, i read a couple of things in that, such as games are going to cost even more (and they are far too overpriced as it is) and 5000 stars will buy you like 2 wii points....

    Wii Channels

the browser's alright, esp with the tabbed browsing shenanigans.. but one thing i'd love to see on the final version, the ability to play mp3's from the sd card. that would be awesome.
  23. Productive weekend thus far. Yoshis Island DS - DS Zelda : Twilight Princess
  24. Got the tilt all unlocked now, and its awesome. A gentle flick of either the remote or nunchuck and all of a sudden you have doubled your control over the game. It works superbly too!
  25. they can only be killed in wolf form with the senses being used.
