TopGunKnacker
hey guys, need some help. i need an art program that lets you draw to scale with precise measurements. its needed for making designs for metal boxes, they will need to be holes and stuff in the design where protrusions come through and they will need to be lined up correctly etc, so itd be a massive pain to use paint or something. if anyone knows anything, particularly something quick and easy, that would be a massive massive help! pickled
this may be of use wikipedia Qcad website no idea how easy it is to use, it's a type of CAD software, which is probably the sort of thing you need, but I have no idea how to use it
Pikman
What is the exact purpose? Is it gonig to be used to produce drawings for manufacture or will you just use the 3D CAD files? I use tons of diff CAD packages, the cheapest is SpaceClaim. Well easy to use. Have you got a budget or are you after a freebie? Alternatively, try Google Sketchup or (for a couple of months) Autodesk are offering Inventor Fusion for free as its a beta (apparently its pretty awesome)...
