I am trying to play DDD but finding it annoying cause it has this timer that counts down all the time and forces you to switch to a different character. This can happen on boss fights and throw away your progress. ?
Not to just harp on that one really annoying negative, the game looks great and feels snooth except during the Tron level where I kept getting caught on grind rails all the time
It's also got this dope cinematic which feels more like hype building for KHIII than anything to do with this game

Yeah, I was trying to create a video for you guys to show it but either the recording doesn't work in HDR or Capcom have blocked recording of the game in general.
The Ueda OST sounds great for roaming around the environment. It doesn't feel "wrong" as such, it contributes to the atmosphere when you're just lost in RPD roaming around. However you might not be able to hear Mr X as clearly.
It also gives you classic boss themes for Birkin.
Edit got it working

I'm having troubles too, his shotgun is rubbish against lickers.

Reached the Labatory with Leon,so the end won’t be far from sight.
Its definitely faithful to the original,in as much that the Police Station is the most tense, interesting area of the game.
It is but as secret labs go I thought the one here was pretty good.
Other than that sewer section I thought the game had a great pace to it. It ratchets up into kickass action as you leave the RPD but not in a way like RE6 but more like how it was back in RE2.
THIS GAME IS SO GOOD ?

Can you sneak past the licker? They can't see you.

I tried a bit of Leon B on hardcore mode. First zombie chomped me down to "danger" immediately and I noped out of it and went back to standard. But that could make for an interesting future playthrough.

I'm still just bowled over by how good it all is and how well it works.
There are some niggles. Like I said I didn't like the sewers. I'm not sure what I think about Mr X but I've never been a big fan of stalker type enemies in RE anyway.
But everything around that. The updating of the enemy designs. The sense of place in RPD, the way you build out a mental geography of the different areas and where they connect to. The pacing and how it doesn't overstay it's welcome. That they made it all work with a modern control scheme and it didn't feel neutered. That it pissed in the eye of those who said that this type of game couldn't be made again (and I was one of those who said that). It fixes pretty much every problem I had with REVII while building upon its framework.
I just need a bit of distance from playing it to decide if I think it's the best RE game. But given I just played REmake 1 a few weeks ago I feel fairly confident that it might just be.

The knifes are a thing that upset the balance in some earlier games. Code Veronica's knife was particularly ridiculous.
It means you don't get to be so thorough in dispatching zombos so easily. There's a cost attached now. If you want to be sure, pop a few 9mm in their heads when they're down. Be frugal or be careful? It works well I think.
I got myself in some trouble a few times not double checking them. Btw, if you want to delimb a zombo give it a spray of the machine gun in the shins.

Well I beat Claire A and am going to have to rethink my Resi ranking I think ?
What a game, my dudes. 2019 ?
Very close to saying it's a 10 but I didn't enjoy the sewer bit that much.
Clear screen results (not plot spoilers)

Chief Irons diary is a bit weird tho ?

They've done a lot to accomodate the modern controls and systems and buff the zombies in a way that they are still a threat as much as is possible. But I think they are still tougher to deal with in the original (mostly cause of cack controls). What they do is super impressive tho and never knowing when they are dead is a clever trick to fuck the player over.
Those lickers however seem much more tough than I remember. In the OG I swear they were less threatening than the zombie doggos but here they chase you down hallways and eviscerate you. Kind of glad I didn't go for hardcore mode cause I was very tempted for a bit.

I appreciate the little HBO opening they added in.

The embargo for this is up today, I think? But apparently tons of outlets didn't get review code in time. People are not sure if it's spoiler control (the entire game has been streamed online already) or lack of confidence in the product.

I will probably do the exact opposite of that. Claire A with new sounds and Leon B with old.
Code Veronica was the first RE I played so it only seems right that it's Claire first (also apparently that's the one that's canon or something?)

I heard the reviewer is actually secretly Ian Watkins writing from his jail cell
Anyway my preload is starting up. It includes that special announcer DLC. The one that makes the game all REZIDENT EEEVUULL.
Are you jealous? No I'm not a mark shut up1 -
I dunno what's going on here but I agree with what different class wrote.

Way I see it those old games (and this new one) are just like violent versions of an adventure game like Monkey Island
You want to see some real BS , try Silent Hill 2. Throw a carton of orange juice down a rubbish chute to dislodge it (wtf). Combine wax and a horseshoe to open a trapdoor ?

A present for Nag, polygon did an interview with Kamiya and a few other RE alumni on RE2. Actually it's mostly about RE1.5 and what went wrong there (inexperienced team, lack of cohesive vision) and how they turned it around.

I beat Chain of Memories. My feelings on it definitely cooled as it's got some insane padding owing to the lack of meaningful story content in the Disney worlds (which are refreshes of kh1 worlds apparently) and the way your progress is gated by weird RNG systems where you need the right card to open a door. Also you fight the same four characters multiple times it feels like.
But I do like it better than Birth by Sleep.i think. The card combat is weird and I think when they did the 3D remake they maybe made a mistake as your position on the battlefield is superfluous to what cards you have ready. Definitely feels like it was made for 2d. But it has a tactical edge and risk/reward thing which appealed to me more than BBS which is sort of floaty and boring.
Plot is stupid and I don't know how relevant it all really is. It introduces all these characters who I thought started off in KHII but actually came from this but even so it seems like a very incidental storyline. I don't know maybe my IQ is just not capable of handling it.
Here's a taste of that weird combat, me fighting Axel near the end

RE4 was still an excellent game tho. I just think CV is unsalvageable as a modern game remade. You'd have to change so much of it to make it work.

Just do a sideways continuity. Like the Halloween movies. Forget that Code Veronica shite. That's where it got rubbish.

I'm wondering if it's just me who plays these games not for the scares but the exploring ?
