  1. Started the process of turning my Switch into a Final Fantasy machine by downloading the pocket edition of this.

I played the full fat version at launch and enjoyed it, although I seemed to enjoy the things others found wanting, like the combat and story, while moaning in forums about the thing everyone seemed to like - the bogus open world and its seemingly endless fetch quests.

But here there is no open world. It's just the story, combat, cooking and character interactions.

I'll reserve judgement on whether that makes it better. But, to be honest, it might?.

  2. Finished my Christmas (and casual) run thru of this. It's a pretty good game, and the atmosphere still chills in places, although I'm easily scared by games (not by movies, though, as it happens).

These games are curiously 'gamey' though, aren't they. I mean the way you have to lumber away from hideous looking monsters like you haven't a care in the world. Speed up damn it.

And that final boss is a git even on the lower diffs, helped in his arseholeness by Claire's dedication to low impact jogging.

  3. I'm not sure I agree with Pyra being so overdressed.

And I'm not being sexist. I offer this opinion only in the interest of upholding narrative integrity.

    Ahem...

But yeah, @retroed, get it done. And then take Torna, the golden country for a spin. You won't regret it.

It will be totally different experience with HD rumble. Unlike any version of Resident Eveil 4 that came before it.

I'm still not convinced that HD rumble feels any different to, er, SD rumble. I can't feel it's different anyway.

    And what's REmake?

  5. Playing this now for the third time. I only dipped into for a bit of Christmas ghosty type atmosphere, but i can't quite put it down.

Having beaten the game before I decided to play on casual, mainly because the one thing I never liked was the bullet sponge enemies. But it hasn't made much difference from what I remember. That first boss, the Comms officer, still drained every friggin bullet I had on me?.

Hopefully we'll get a bit more Resi action on the Switcheroo in the coming years. Can't wait to buy 4 for the 5th time?

  6. Merry Christmas. Anyone else feel an urge to play horror games this time of year?

I had to fire up Resi revelations, as it's the only one I've got on the Switch and soak up a bit of the atmosphere last night. Scratched an itch.

  7. Having finished the supreme Stick of Truth, this is now my Smash accompaniment. Sorry for being Mr thread bump (although it's a bit of a hollow apology, as my next game will be Tales of Vesperia).

I'm not convinced by this yet. It's supremely beautiful, but the gameplay is slightly off, for me at least. It feels unbalanced. Like, if you go for 'expert' it's a bit too much for a relaxed RPG, and 'casual' provides little to no challenge.

Perhaps someone at Ubisoft might have mentioned to the project leader that there is already a longstanding tradition in games regarding difficulty settings. Easy, normal, hard. Just saying.

  8. I have to admit, I don't know what that means.

Still getting my ass handed to me, but I feel I'm getting closer to being able to compete.

It's the speed of fighting against other humans that needs getting used to most. The game is so fast, and it's all about predicting how to take advantage of your opponent's miscalculations.

And I was right. The only thing the CPU teaches you is how best not to win. I can't go back to that now, although a YouTube player reckons that warming up with the CPU on a low level for combo and spacing practice works well.

  9. Finished on 16+ hours, although my level capped out at about the 13 hour mark for some reason.

Really enjoyed it, although I don't watch the show, and I certainly didn't realize it was so near the knuckle. Nothing really shocks me, though (barring Blakey's love of RDR2) so it all blew over me like a Colorado breeze.

As I mentioned earlier, I won't be indulging in the sequel. I did try it, but didn't get on with the sloooow paced combat. I suppose they have to change things up to keep it interesting, but it wasn't for me. Pity, though, because I loved the world and characters, especially the strange and silly adults.

    Nice one.

  10. I couldn't be arsed with WoL.

I've unlocked the full roster now, but it seems to me that the only pleasure I get from this is as a one on one fighter. Which is fair enough. I think the game is made for the player to tune the experience to his own requirements.

I might have to take it online to get my money's worth out of the game, before I start to get those CPU bad habits.
