Well I reached the final credits today, I think my opinion still stands... It's a good game, great even but it still lands behind the previous two for me. I'm happy enough with where Lara ended up character wise and I think overall it's a great trilogy. In regards to the game itself I think the Piatiti hub was the weakest element with far too much time spent there, I prefer Lara on her own against the elements not surrounded by crowds of people... I would've also preferred more combat against the soldier type enemies. I actually fairly liked the end boss fight though. I'll go back in eventually and try to 100 percent the map (and hope to god my game doesn't glitch)... I'll also be trying new game plus on the hardest setting at some point so that should be fun.

Again I think I've left off exactly the same as you @Blakey, just got the notification that if I talk to that person it's the point of no return... Fortunately for me the last side quest didn't bug out, so I've got that out of the way. My game plan now is to revisit all the previous areas and 100% them as there's no chance I'm doing that in new game plus on the highest difficulty... There's a couple of treasures in the Piatiti that I just cannot figure out how to reach though... Although I've enjoyed the game a lot I have to say that I do believe it's the weakest in the trilogy... Maybe my mind will change one I reach the end credits.

It sounds as if we're roundabouts the same place @Blakey... I've just been allowed to go all Predator on Trinity's arse and it was a blast... Literally. Seriously, when the game allows you to try and stealth your way through the jungle it's an absolute joy and feels so far removed from the Piatiti hub it's unreal. I don't even mind when I fuck up because line of sight and concealment actually work now. Stealth killing five guys and then thinking fuck it and petrol bombing the last two was fun and games.? The Oil Field area that followed was pretty bloody good too but I'm not gonna say too much about that, hit another hub now so I'm hoping that it doesn't slow the feel of the game down again, in the same breath I hope that I've got a fair way to go... I'm back to loving it. Getting ready to roast some fools... Back to being a badass!

That's been one of my main concerns so far, I've noticed a lot of the enemies will run directly at you in this (far more so than the previous two games) so some short range crowd control would be nice... A shotgun should be god tier at point blank range but I've seen enemies take four or five blasts before staying down and these are natives running around in fucking loincloths, that's ridiculous. The other thing is outfits, what's the point of unlocking or crafting these outfits with upgraded attributes when the game locks you into one costume for hours on end... Pretty much all of my time spent in the Hidden City hub I've been locked out of my preferred outfits, it's fucking annoying.

The way people are spinning things nowadays I think it's preferable to be a mass murderer rather than a tomb raider... The jury is still out on which one I prefer over this and Rise... They've got to ramp up the combat otherwise I think the second game will edge it.

Depends what difficulty your on @illdog... You can turn off the white paint which marks the way and certain difficulties do it automatically.

I've got my Lara Croft loving Tomb Raider mojo back...? I've got to admit (even though the game is stunning) my first two sessions with this hasn't grabbed me as much as I would've liked, that changed yesterday, something clicked and I remembered why I hold Rise and 2013 in such high regard, I think this will end up joining them. I decided to move out of Paititi today and move the story forward and although I didn't actually get that much further the thrill of just exploring such a beautiful game world kind've took over... I'll admit I'd still like a bit more combat but the swinging, jumping and climbing in this, for me at least, is in a league of its own. Lara likes to keep this handy... For close encounters...

Pretty certain that's the X patch not a bog standard day one patch... Although it could have that thrown in for good measure too I suppose.

I'm really surprised you're enjoying this as much as you seem to be @Blakey, I honestly don't think it's much of a departure from Rise at all (apart from the lack of combat, so far)... I played another couple of hours today, didn't get a hell of a lot done though to be honest as I've just reached Paititi, and it's a fucking massive hub area so everything pretty much ground to a halt while I ran around trying to find hidden stuff and side missions in the area, called it a day at the entrance to hidden tomb in the area. The game really is gorgeous to look at, unfortunately thought trying to play two story driven games side by side is probably going to harm my enjoyment of both so I think I'm gonna put this on hold until I've clocked Spider-Man. Careful of spoilers please @Blakey.?

When I booted the game it gave me some of my old costumes from previous games (from having old saves I guess) one of which is the survivor costume from the 2013 game... 2013 Lara... I can't believe how much they changed her face, admittedly it's been a while since I played the first game but still... 2018 Lara...

Yeah, so far so good... I've put maybe 5 or 6 hours in today (Missus is out?). It's more of the same but I'm more than alright with that. It is a lovely looking game, I'd say it's pretty apparent that it's not been held back by last gen this time. I've just reached Kuwaq Yaku (like that means anything to anyone) and there's been a surprising lack of combat so far compared to the other two games. I'm enjoying the chemistry between Lara and Jonah, there's a surprisingly realistic friendship there and some of the little looks Lara shoots him are really on point, although... He is so checking out her ass here... I will say that the opening hasn't grabbed me quite as much as Rise did so far but there's a long way to go yet. I fucking love photo mode nowadays...

It's been a fair while since I played either of these games but that sentiment is one I can get on-board with... they definitely pad the game in unnecessary ways (collect a part, oh no...it's broken into three pieces) Its one of the reasons I'm not overly excited by the third game.

So this is shamelessly stolen from an article on Destructoid, gaming adverts for better or worse in some cases, what are some of the ones that have stuck with you? This could be tv spots or maybe old magazine spreads... feel free to post not just favourites but ones that you feel were complete missteps. For me a lot has to do with the choice of music to match the imagery used and these two definitely hit it out of the park for me... Gears of War 3... Gears has always had good tv spots, this one basically takes you through snapshot moments of the first two games leading to that tagline "Brothers to the end"... God, it almost tears me up now. I'm not exactly Smashing Pumpkins biggest fan but this song fits so well, loved seeing this playing on the tv at the time.

The two Darksider games were really cheap for current gen Xbox a couple of months ago, kind of sad I didn't pull the trigger... didn't because I'm not 100% that I'm gonna go for the third game. Carry on with the updates dude...?
