Lord knows few people will be buying this here, but the specs have been confirmed.

*gulp*

Crytek boss Cevat Yerli took the stage at a press event in Frankfurt, Germany, yesterday afternoon to announce the recommended and minimum hardware specifications for Crysis.

So without any further ado...

Recommended for both XP and Vista:

* CPU - Core 2 Duo @ 2.2GHz/ Athlon 64 X2 4400+

* RAM - 2.0GB

* GPU - 8800 GTS/640 or similar

* HDD - 12GB

According to Yerli, the game will run "butter-smooth" on 'High' settings with this hardware specification, although admitted that there would be frame rate hits on 'Very High'. Obviously you'll need Vista to take advantage of the game's DirectX10 features.

Minimum for both XP and Vista:

* CPU - 2.8GHz for XP, 3.2GHz for Vista

* RAM - 1.0GB for XP, 1.5GB for Vista

* GPU - 256MB, DirectX 9.0c compliant. Supported chipsets: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT or greater; ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (Radeon X800 Pro for Vista) or greater. Laptop versions of these chipsets may work but are not supported. Integrated chipsets are not supported. Updates to your video and sound card drivers may be required

* Sound Card - DirectX 9.0c compatible

* HDD - 12GB

We asked Yerli what resolution we'd need to run Crysis at with the minimum specs to get a smooth game. The answer? 800x600.

A Crysis single-player demo - which will feature the first level of the game along with the game editor - is out on October 26. So you'll be able to test your machine with that before the full shooter ships on November 16.

I'm surprised it's not Vista only though.
