Another good session there, early days yet but this game is incredible. It looks beautiful, the soundtrack is beautiful, it's funny, full of Fable-esque charm, all of the dialogue is voice acted... If this game was a woman I'd be in love with her. Honestly, I enjoyed my time spent with Wasteland 2 (which I parked after 16 hours) but it's so dry compared to this. I've explored a small amount of the town, chatted to NPCs, done some quests - one of which took me on an interesting detour (I won't spoil it but I guess if you've played it you know what I'm talking about)!. Honestly, this game is so immersive and I can only see it being a pleasure to play for me.

Glad to hear your enjoying it, I think i got about 60 hours in before the combat started getting a bit same-y for me. Might of just got unlucky, but never seemed to find any new abilities and my ranger was so over-powered it got into a routine of summon spider, slow down enemies with spells, and unleash hell with my ranger. Rinse and repeat.

Just been walking around town picking up loads of quests and also I've added a new party member, although I'm not sure if I'll stick with her as she's a ranger like one of my main characters. The more the merrier for now though.

I've noticed this game has an item classification similar to Torchlight or Borderlands- common (no colour), uncommon (green), rare (blue), epic (purple), unique (yellow). I've only seen one piece of epic equipment so far but it raised dexterity by 1 so I bought it and gave it to my ranger! Dexterity +1, baby! I've got to tell them about this find at work tomorrow.

6 hours in now. I've picked up a ton of quests that will take me in all directions outside of Cyseal. Just have to finish a couple of quests within Cyseal and then it's time to go off adventuring. And to earn some gold so that I can buy shit. I added a wizard to my party so now I have a fighter, a wizard and two rangers. I only just realised that you need to buy/read skill books to learn skills in the game, another reason I need to earn money.

I performed a couple of plays in Cyseal and ended up with over 3000 gold, that allowed me to buy some cool equipment. I found a cavern underneath the graveyard so I've been exploring that, I found a new party member, Wolgraff, who seems to be a thief-type character so I swapped out Bairdotr (my second ranger) for him. Now I have a fighter, a ranger, a thief and a mage so my party is nice and balanced.

Played a good chunk of this tonight. Decided to explore outside Cyseal so I opened all the gates and had a walk around. To the north and east are higher level areas, I was able to explore them a little and advance a few quests, discovering a couple of warp gates along the way, but I couldn't engage in combat. The western area that leads to the lighthouse is obviously where you are supposed to explore first so I'm there now. The combat in this game is sublime. My four characters have a good mix of abilities. One of the things I like is that you can use resurrection scrolls without having to be anywhere near the character you are resurrecting, and you can choose where to place him on the map as well. I have a couple of minor quibbles with the combat. The cursor can be a bit jumpy sometimes (oversensitive is the word I guess), a couple of times I ended sending my characters for a walk instead of attacking the enemy, using up valuable AP! But once it happened me a couple of times, I learned to be careful and compensate for it. Also the camera can be a bit goofy sometimes, especially if an enemy is attacking your party from a distance. But those are only minor things. Up to 13 hours now. I have a feeling this is easily going to be my most played game on Steam before long.

18 hours now. This game is going to be only the third game I've ever gone over 20 hours on Steam. I cleared the lighthouse area of the map and now I'm in a large cave that I discovered in the forest area guarded by a bunch of wild boars. It leads to a new area on the other side, however I haven't explored the cave yet so I don't know if I'm a high enough level to progress. My team are currently level 6. The game makes it extremely difficult to beat enemies at a higher level than you as you incur all kinds of penalties, so the level of the enemies is a fairly strict guide to where you can explore. There are a couple of fights - one outside a cave entrance on the beach (on the south-west of the map) which is guarded by orcs, and another with a giant skeleton called Diederic who raises an army of undead (on the eastern side of the map, near the Withered Garden) - that I've given up on for now because they are extremely difficult. But fighting enemies at the same level as you is generally straightforward enough, without ever being particularly easy.

Well, it turns out that that cave contained a very annoying boss, Arhu's Failed Experiment. I tried to fight him for an hour and just kept gettng wiped out. I googled the fight and apparently you are supposed to use the Universal Controller Arhu gives you to weaken him/disarm his attacks. Funnily enough, I had the book with the instructions for the controller in my inventory, but not the controller itself. I went back and got it and even with the remote still had problems with the fight. In the end I stopped giving a shit about keeping the NPC characters alive and managed to beat him with one NPC character alive and two of my own party members dead. Onwards and upwards!

Party at level 7 now, the hours are just flying by on this. Was able to beat the Orcs guarding the Black Cove easily second time around so now I'm exploring that area and fighting a lot of large crabs. My party members have a good variety of abilities now between buffs, offensive attacks and status effect inducing attacks so in general I can cope a lot better in combat (although every fight presents its own unique challenges haha).

Funnily enough, I still haven't solved the murder mystery in Cyseal. I did a ton of things to advance it but once I reached the point where Roberts gives you the names of the four people he thinks are involved, I pretty much hit a brick wall. So far I've been very noble and haven't been breaking into people's houses and rooting through their shit, but it's kind of the only option I can see at this point.

29 hours in now. this will comfortably end up being my most played game on Steam, the only question is by how much.

I always end up stumbling into fights and then finding out shit about them afterwards. I tried to beat Arhu's machine and then found out about the controller (which was supposed to help a lot but only helped barely). I spent a fair chunk of time last night and tonight trying to beat Pontious Pirate at the bottom of Black Cove. I even tried the classic run away as far as possible technique so that some of the enemies lose interest but they tracked me the whole way across the map... Anyway, I decided to explore the other area of Black Cove that I had ignored so I found Headless Nick and unlocked his summon ability, and he told me about the weapon on Pontious Pirate's ship that you are supposed to charge with magic. I hope this tip works better than the universal controller!

I had a mountain of shit to sell so I warped back to Cyseal and bought some nifty new weapons and armour. Pontious Pirate won't know what's hit him!

Now at 36 hours and 13/54 achievements. Party are level 8, almost level 9. Made a ton of progress.

I was able to progress the murder mystery by looting people's houses. So I spent a couple of hours looting the whole of Cyseal and buying everything I could with it. I cleared Evelyn's lair, then I want back to the Black Cove and beat Pontious Pirate, I also beat the giant crab/spider boss that you can unlock when you beat him. Also I went back and did that fight with Diederik, much easier this time. Doing all that also allowed me to complete a lot of sidequests along the way. My next destination story wise is the church. There's also the area covered in lava in the centre of the map that I have to explore.

41 hours now, more or less done with the Cyseal area now.

I cleared out the lava area in the middle of the map and that took me to the Lucalla Forest area which appears to be around the same size as the Cyseal map! I escorted some stranded couple into Silverglen and then went back to Cyseal to clear out the church area. That led to the fight with Braccus Rex and his cronies and I promptly whupped his ass. That unlocked a new portal in the End of Time which I'm currently exploring.

Like I said, I've more or less everything done in the Cyseal area. There is an area in the church called The Wizard's Prison that I haven't accessed, it might have something to do with the chest in the area which seems to be sealed by magic. There's another door in the harbour at Cyseal that's sealed by magic. Other than that, I can move on to exploring Silverglen now and picking up all the quests there.

But I think I'll take a break from Divinity for a while. 41 hours in and I'm still loving it (I barely managed 15 hours on Wasteland 2) but I don't want to play it to death, now feels like a good time to stop. I've installed Dreamfall: The Longest Journey on GOG so I'm going to play through that next.
