  1. I think it's recommended you do the basic vocations before the advanced ones anyway. Some of the basic skills carry over.

Or something, I'm not totally sure.

You should maybe train your pawn in a more tanky role to keep mobs off your back.

The bit of the game I'm at now seems sort of boring. I don't know what I want to do really. I'm not sure if I'm ready for that DLC area yet or not.

  2. I love the assassin. Every single weapon except bows has a parry. Shield has parry and hop above and behind the enemy, sword is parry and stab in belly (which is how I dealt with that old man who I can't name because spoilers also btw I beat the dragon) and knives have parry and themln jump on the head of the nearest dude and slit throat.

With magic what I hear is that it becomes very cool when you're a high level sorceror.

  3. Oh man look at how I dispatched this Saurian

Parried the backswing of an attack he did to a pawn, which made me automatically jump over him then I stingered him off the cliff

I dunno I thought it was pretty cool anyway ?

The combat in this game is so good. I might be near ready to take a break from melee however. I'll train my pawn as a fighter/warrior for a bit maybe and start donning the magic gear for a bit

  4. I don't like the cockatrice. Big dumb chickens that are a reskin of the Griffin but they burp black smoke. Boo.

I'm having another go at the dragons lair but I'm getting med-induced sleepiness again ??

When I finish my playtime will be ridiculous but 20 hours of it will be on a pause menu.

  5. Also if you listen to the pawn she says "slay the healer first". So I think I actually learned to kill the goat first from the pawn in one of my earlier tries

The pawns can be dumb but the whole thing where they share knowledge with you is very cool. Especially knowing that it might have learned that cause they fought that enemy in someone else's game and they already know that the goat is the one to hit first

  6. The goat heals the rest of them.

Also the snake keeps coming back. The goat is also the caster.

It's maybe different with those weaker chimera, it matters less which order. But this one I found too difficult until I concentrated on the goat

I think it's just this version of the chimera which is like this.

  7. I had to throw in the towel and reload to a checkpoint. Looked online and it's dark he is weak to, not ice like I thought. That explains why my pawn wasn't enchanting my weapons.

I will bring a ranger with me and we'll take him on again. I might grind a vocation rank or two on that black chimera to see if there's some cool assassin shit to unlock.

  8. I just want to hear more about SMTV

It's one of the exclusives that sold the Switch to me, the other one being BOTW.

I wonder why it's taking them this long to show some stuff. I much prefer recruiting an army of demons and fusing them over only being able to swap a single persona.

  9. I got him down three or four pips of health. So a bit away from halfway but that's progress.

This is just going to be a long fight I think.

One thing I wish is they let you switch around vocations more easily. I think the assassin is the one to go with for this fight but I can't imagine how fucked I'd be if I was rolling a warrior up to this.

Ranger might be the better bet actually if you don't mind doing less damage to his heart with melee.

  10. I'm level 51. I just did a Google after reading your post and lots of people beat him at around 45+ so I should be ok there

I'm using the equipment I found in his lair. An electric dagger which I equip for dodge rolls and an ice sword I use for stabbing

Also I just found out that the area has loads of healing items. I just did not notice.

  11. This dragon is causing me much grief. I went in with just my sorcerer pawn and I don't have any heals left.

I'm hearing you can hit him with ballistas. Jumping on him and stabbing his heart is really slow. My bow is barely making a dent on his heart as well

I may have to go back to a checkpoint but I really don't want to.

  12. For such an "ugly" game it can look really cool sometimes.

Relating to my previous post here's a video of me fighting that chimera. Kind of drags on but I reckon I got some cool guy moments in there. My pawn did as well ?

The mistake I made here was I was trying to bait attacks out of him and fell him with mighty bend, but you don't need to do it during the attack. You can do it right at the beginning of its windup. I only found that out at the end

Keeping the chimera on you with shield summon while the pawn does her big magic is the other thing you can do, but the pawns seem slow to decide to cast magic. What this game needs is a system like in FFXII where you can set little commands to perform automatically

I guess that's more complicated for a game like this tho.

  13. Yes it is ?

It's just one of those games (Dmc3) where it always feels like there's new shit within grasp to learn. But I've been waiting to a worthy followup to that game for 13 years. 4 didn't cut it and reboot was a different thing.

I just hope 5 is good enough that it wraps up all the Dante stuff so they can start to do some really new things with the series in the future.

  14. I went to sleep and not cause of the pain medication I'm on, the show sent me to sleepy dreamy snoozy town all by itself

Geoff is such a phony. The arse-licking is worse than the Oscars.

Even the Devil May Cry bit offended me.

  15. DmC hardons are a bit inadequate I think, cause you keep expecting to be able to do siderolls

Best to keep it soft so you're more agile

Basically DmC plays best if you take it like a faster Dragons Dogma, both games have the hold triggers thing. Just DmC fights are in the air all the time

  16. Sly another thing I have to insist on is you don't play this one on PC. Get the definitive edition on PS4 or Xbox

It's like a really good directors cut where they fix some stuff that wasn't good on the first one and add a bunch of great options. Options you probably won't use, but still

For one the dodging system in DE is much much better than in the vanilla one. Some enemies are maybe five or six times less annoying to fight (colour coded ones)

It's regularly on sales on PSN. I got it for 7£ digitally recently
