Hendo
No raping possible. I've been listening to the tunes and they are teh awesome! I could never get into the levelling up style of Dawn of Sorrow, so this is simplistic platforming fun! The level design is damn near genius in places. I keep getting fucked off when I hit a spike and die instantly, but with practice you know the level inside and out and realise it's all about memorisation. Hendo
Triple post fun! I'm on Dracula now and crikey, he's hard. I've had to look at a guide and I've still no chance of killing him. Oh and I did that leap of faith, James! Took me blummin' ages to work out how to get back up though......
illdog
*faaaaaaaa-lick* Nice one, Dracula's not that hard after you've fought him 50 or 60 times. Thank god the save point is right by him eh?

Hendo
Finally beat Dracula. After a few attempts, learning the patterns and a little look on GameFAQS it wasn't too hard, but definately a worthy final boss. I'd say that game was the best 5 quid I've spent! I'm tempted to get the NES version that's just popped onto the VC but I don't think it'll compete with this one.
illdog
If you thought this one was hard the NES one will eat you up and spit you out.
DANGERMAN
Bumpage Hendo made a post earlier in the thread that said something along the lines that even though the game kicks your arse at points, you never feel like giving up on it, and I completely agree. Maybe it's that the levels are reletively short, but you can really see yourself improving at each section. I guess the spiritual successor to this sort of game is Ouendan; it beats the shit out of you but you keep coming back and improving. I'm on the last level, and there's one jump I just cant seem to make, I'll give it another try after some coffee i think. I sort of take back what I said on the podcast about mode 7. Theres a moment where the background spins around like you're in a tube. It reminded me of a saturn shooter I cant place. Anyway, that was nice and would have impressed me back in the day. But little else would have. And maybe it's just because ill built it up so much, but the music on the treasure level didnt really do much for me
Hendo
Wasn't sure where else to put it, but here will do. A cool little feature on the Nintendo years of Castlevania games. Rinky-dink-do
illdog
That was excellent, agree with it all on the most part too.
DANGERMAN
this is up on the WiiUs virtual console now. Nicely, I guess, the store knew that I already owned the game on the Wii so listed it for the reduced £1.50 price. I'd rather just pay for an app that lets me run all my Wii VC games on the gamepad or with the WiiUs controllers, but I paid the £1.

Popular Post illdog
Bumpity bump. Ive always played this game every year as a tradition so it’s never been too unfamiliar to me. Last year the misses and I went to Boston (just before Covid hit) and all I took with me was my 3DS. Super Castlevania was on it so I started playing it in the airport. I think I completed it on the plane and then just started it again. I remember being in the hotel, wide awake with jet lag and watching a speedrun of it and thinking fuck it, I’m gonna learn to play this game properly. Since then I’ve put in a couple of hundred hours practice easily. My first completed and verified run was 49 minutes in May of 2020. My last PB was August of this year at 36:25 with a huge mistake on Stage 6. Check it out of you can be fucked: I’ve not played for a month or so but I’m gonna get back in to it for 35:xx runs.
AndyKurosaki
This was the first Castlevania I ever played, definitely one of the best games on the SNES. Soundtrack is proper epic.
