Hello all. I got myself one of those Buffalo Airstation Turbo G routers that Centy recommended. I read the instructions and it all looked pretty easy, but I've fallen at the first hurdle.

It wants me to put the ethernet cable from my modem into the WAN socket, sounds easy, except our modem hasn't got an eternet cable, it's only got a usb cable out. Maybe I'm missing something startingly obvious , but it's put my wifi sorting mission on the shits straight away

Well, if it's like any normal router, that takes care of all your net needs, so you don't need the old modem at all, so I don't think you'd have to plug your modem into it.

Though I haven't seen that router so maybe it's set up different to mine?

The instructions make it look like it needs it.

5. Power on your cable or DSL modem and wait one full minute, then power on the Airstation router
