Nag Posted June 6 Posted June 6 So happy this turned out to be true, it's the game that needed an update the most in my opinion as it felt dated even on release. Code Veronica has some really good areas in game though which could be made really fucking freaky with RE Engine... 2027's most wanted right here. 3
Maryokutai Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Yeah, this looked really nice, but I realise I feel like that about every RE game and then end up never playing them regardless.
DisturbedSwan Posted June 6 Posted June 6 RE is an annual franchise at this point. I’m probably more excited for this than playing Requiem at this point, still need to go back to RE4 remake as well lol, can’t keep up.
DANGERMAN Posted June 6 Posted June 6 I suppose this is why they've dropped the word 'Code' from the title, but it looks very different from the original. CV was my favourite of the old style, so I'm looking forward to this I can't decide if I want them to dial Steve down or up 1
one-armed dwarf Posted June 6 Posted June 6 I think the only reason it looks different is they've changed how Claire gets kidnapped at the start, where she was breaking into Umbrella Paris in the original like an action hero. Here, she gets nabbed before any of that happens, but the flash forward of scenes they show are of the prison island and look a lot like original CV I'll be bummed if that means we don't see this ridiculous trickshot thing she does, where she grabs the gun while it's falling CV is such a weird game, it's like The Matrix and Titanic and Psycho all mushed together, and the result is probably peak RE cheese. It's definitely (IMO) the worst of the classic era and also the most interesting one to give the remake treatment, for that reason. RE4 remake was great, but redundant. This maybe isn't I hope it still has the bits that are like Psycho, though they'll have to rethink Alfred a little bit in that context, how they go about it with how queer-phobic the original was (I think they may have already addressed that in a lightgun game though) 1
Nag Posted June 6 Author Posted June 6 Can you imagine the uproar if they kept the "cross dressing freak" comment... it would be hilarious. I'm glad they're ditching the whole breaking and entering mini gun helicopter bullshit from the original game (if they have)... Claire's a badass but she's a collage student for fucksake.
OCH Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Very excited for this! My second favourite Classic RE, after Nemesis. Claire potentially getting kidnapped by Hunk is a little odd in context to the original. I'm more curious how the tail end of the game has been addressed in this REmake? Given what they've done with REmake Carlos and Ashley, this might just be the redemption of Steve... 1
Nag Posted June 6 Author Posted June 6 I really like Carlos in 3's remake (and Ashley in 4's tbf)... I actually think they've done really well with all the remake main cast members so far, there's no way they can make him even more unlikeable. 😂 1
OCH Posted June 6 Posted June 6 I also think they will also make the distinction that Alfred suffers from DID, and isn't trans/"cross dressing".
one-armed dwarf Posted June 10 Posted June 10 This is being worked on by the same team who did RE2 and 4 remakes. Which is funny and interesting in a way cause it means one of the poorer and more overlooked entries in the classic series is now getting the royal treatment. https://www.videogameschronicle.com/features/resident-evil-veronica-producer-explains-why-it-deserves-a-remake-and-is-just-as-important-as-numbered-entries/ Maybe they should have just righted all their wrongs and called it Resident Evil 3, and call the RE3 remake Last Escape
Nag Posted June 10 Author Posted June 10 I've seen people, because of the highlighted V, say that this is now the new Resident Evil 5... these people are fucking stupid. 2
one-armed dwarf Posted June 12 Posted June 12 Honestly, if they redid Code Veronica and reiminagined it as a timeline reset, making it a more central title and really resolving the Umbrella saga in a more satisfying way, I would be totally fine with it being the new RE5. It wouldn't make much sense though, as the real RE5 is all about Wesker and Spoiler we know what he's up to in RE CV, and 4 takes place after this anyway so it doesn't really slot in like that But I'd be fine with them fucking off RE5 anyway and pretending 6 doesn't exist. At a certain point, they're going to be scraping the barrel for these remakes. Arguably CV is that point, but I'm pretty excited to see how they pull this one off given how awkward the original game is. I don't think this will happen though. Rewriting the chronology I mean
regemond Posted June 12 Posted June 12 How was 0 received amidst all these titles? That was the one on the train with the character switching, wasn't it? Or was that CV? Surely that's all that's left to remake after this?
one-armed dwarf Posted June 12 Posted June 12 I think that one is actually next, based on rumours. Yeah it has the character swapping and you dump items on the floor, no item box I've never played it but heard it's rough, but I want to see what's up with it at some point. I think it might be on sale or was recently. It goes on sale a lot anyway
mfnick Posted June 12 Posted June 12 I actually played Zero recently for first time. Even as someone who prefers the originals to the new Remakes I found that one really hard going tbh. It’s really bland and brown throughout. The item and character switching thing wasn’t as big an issue as I expected but it is definitely one of the worst ones with 5 and 6.
Nag Posted June 12 Author Posted June 12 5 does a massive amount of heavy lifting in terms of story... especially with how bare boned 4 was with what had gone before. Zero contradicts Rebecca's character to a stupid degree with how she's depicted in Remake so if both of those got remade, and I believe the rumours that they will, at least they can address that... and maybe get rid of the Final Fantasy wannabe and his "ANd the WORld WilL burN iN AN InfErNO Of HAtE" bullshit.
