This seems to be a thing that's accelerating atm, apparently one reason could be AI-assisted coding with tools like Claude. But there's a lot more recompilations of console games to native PC games happening these days.

Like Armored Core: For Answer

This game emulates pretty well already on Xenia/RPCS3, which is how I played it, but you still have things like shader stutter and visual glitches. According to the comments on this video this already runs better than emulation. I wonder if going forward we will see this become more of the standard way to play console games on PC, instead of emulation, given how rapidly AI-assisted development seems to be progressing

There's a lot of N64 games that have gotten efforts like this, like Ocarina of Time.

Will be keeping an eye on NG2: https://www.reddit.com/r/ninjagaiden/comments/1rb3774/ng2_recomp_running_this_is_not_a_drill_via/

Yes, good thread. This stuff is going crazy right now with news of one hitting every couple of days. If not fully completed and least work being progressed.

The current big one I’m seeing everywhere is Twilight Princess. The game is up and running and fully playable but features are still being added. I think they just dropped a 4K texture pack for some areas

Gears 2 finally arrives on PC

I don't know why they stopped porting these games after the first one, only to resume doing so with 4, but still not doing 2 and 3.

Also, I forgot how grey these games are

Not sure. The UI scaling looks smaller than the original, which was rendered at 720p. Looks like it could be 4k (or maybe 1440). Though I don't think this is a game you need to push past 1080, not a lot of detail in those textures

Some jaggies in some scenes, so maybe 1440

SOTN ported to PC

Has some issues with widescreen, you can see some culling happening on the edges at times. Though I guess there's probably a 4:3 option in there (didn't watch the whole video)
