Popular Post Nag Posted April 22 Popular Post Posted April 22 So I've finally managed to put a few hours in to this and it's good... very good. I've seen this described as a 360 throwback and in a way I could get behind that, it's not gonna reinvent the wheel with what it's doing... mainly shooting and exploration... but what it does do feels really good in practice. You play as Hugh who turns up on the moon along with his team to do... something?? And then for reasons ends up separated and alone before teaming up with D-I-0336-7 who he nicknames Diana... the titular PRAGMATA. It's a good thing too as the moons AI has decided to go cuckoo and make all the robots in the place in to murderous nutters... Hugh has a gun but without the aid of Diana's hacking skills it's about as much use as a pea shooter. The hacking quite cleverly is done using the four face buttons of the controller, think of it as up, down, left and right where you'll try to set a path through various different nodes which will set off different effects... it's cool and in the heat of battle a bit mind frying. Once hacked this opens up the timing for Hugh to get to work with his guns. The shooting feels great (although I do wish I could shoot faster) as does the movement... I know it's not for everyone but I love the weight that Capcom gives it's characters. Hugh is really well voiced and Diana is just the right side of being endearing rather than annoying... childlike characters are hard to pull off in games so far I think they've done alright in this. I like the fact you can go to your safe hub at any point in the levels through shortcuts that are opened up... ditto for being able to return to previous areas whenever you feel the urge... and you'll want to as you won't be able to collect everything on the first visits. The games made a really good impression on me so far and I'm looking forward to putting more time in. 5
mfnick Posted April 22 Posted April 22 I’ve not put anywhere near as much time into this as I would have liked but loved every minute so far. Everything is just to such a high standard, it feels and looks brilliant. The hacking stuff is just so well implemented and effortless. This could have easily ruined the game but they nailed it. I usually hate kids, especially in my games and films but I’ve actually really taken to Diana. Maybe all kids should be cyborgs…. 1
Nag Posted April 22 Author Posted April 22 1 hour ago, mfnick said: it feels and looks brilliant Yeah, I've just plumped for quality mode and it still feels nice once you get used to that Capcom weightiness... and it's performance has been solid so far.
spatular Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Yeah I’m really liking this. The hacking/shooting works well and is good fun, difficulty seems well balanced too, for me anyway. I like the exploration looking for pickups. It looks nice too. like the challenge levels and red room challenges too, although some of the timed fighting ones are too difficult for me. finished it yesterday but there’s more to do. Main bad point for me is all the travelling back to base just to heal up, those teleport to base stations should just refill your health without having to go through 2 loading screens.
Nag Posted April 27 Author Posted April 27 And I've finished the main story earlier too... really good game, to the point that it's very close to knocking Requiem from my top spot so far. I loved the relationship that developed between Hugh/Diana and yeah, i suppose some would say it was a bit twee in places but I don't care... it stays on the right side for me. Like Spatular says it opens up something a bit extra on completion and also lunatic difficulty which I'll attempt at some point, I'm falling behind with the amount of games I've got to go at now though so that might have to wait. 1
spatular Posted April 29 Posted April 29 finished the extra stuff, it's getting the collectables, beat harder versions of the bosses, and some more challenge rooms. was alright/pretty good. the extra bit added to the ending Spoiler is totally not worth bothering with though the harder version of the last boss was tough, nearly dropped the difficulty down but did it after about 5 goes. crap that if you drop the difficulty it says you can't put it back up again a few of the last few main-game challenge rooms i never finished might go back to try those but other than that i'm done with the game. i'll not be trying lunatic!
DANGERMAN Posted May 18 Posted May 18 I'm making fairly slow progress through this, trying to find all the secrets and do the training. I love it though, so far I think it's my game of the year. I'm in the mining area, and I'm pretty powered up. My main gun just needs 2 more levels, assuming even more don't open up, same for Diana's hacking, so fights are more an issue of field of view and the main gun not holding enough ammo. I really like Diana, they've done a good job with what could have been an annoying character 2
