I missed this in the show. It’s a Game Freak game?!

I thought it was a crazy announcement.  They've never made anything of this scale before that wasn't Pokémon.  Interested in what something that looks AAA is going to be by them.  It's a big jump from Little Town Hero.

Yeah this was an interesting announcement. Haven’t seen anything like this from Game Freak before.

It's weird how seeing Game Freak do not-Pokémon is always this eyebrow-raising moment even though they have done other stuff before. Though not in this weight class, that's true.

Gave off some strong Princess Mononoke vibes I think. Doesn't look mind-blowing but I'm very interested to see how this turns out.

Another I’m interested in now. Looks cool as fuck. Not sure if Gamefreak can pull something like this off but I’ll be keeping an eye on it.

For me this ended up being the most interesting game of the showcase today, oddly enough. It's a bit funny hearing them throw the word 'unique' around when it's just a mashup of Princess Mononoke and Nier, but it looks quite accomplished. I particularly like that it features proper action combat but isn't actually a character action game, keeping elements from turn-based combat as well as having a stealth system in place. The slightly nonsensical double jump via growing vines is also very fun to look at.

 

Unless this receive horrendous feedback for some reason I'm pretty sure I'm going to check this out (comes out during summer).

Hard to grasp what is going on here from the excerpts. Some say strong story and exciting combat but then others saying it’s shallow, restrictive and a good “first foray”. Haven’t seen any big reviews or talk about it online yet. Maybe that happens today

The middling reviews and the fact a hell of a lot of the achievements seem to be tied to completing the game twice has knocked this off my radar. I'll never understand devs almost trying to force people in to NG+.

A 7/10 is not bad, especially since it’s on Gamepass. I just need more info on whether it’s worth playing at all. Is it great but flawed or is it just middle of the road action game.

EDIT: What I’ve read is a big thing on all platforms is performance issues. Looks like every version of the game needs big fixing.
 

Apparently this game was made with a very small team inside GameFreak and most of the development was outsourced.

I play a lot of games for the story... which is a low point in this apparently.
