These fucking FGC sickos are getting me too hyped for this game. There are so many amazing looking characters. Right now my team is probably Spider-Man, Ms Marvel, Magik and Carnage. But honestly I could se playing most of the characters here. 
 

Carnage hits you and you get a debuff that drains health on subsequent attacks, even when blocking

 

Magneto leaves metal around the stage and informs set-ups. 
 

Goblin moves really slow off the glider but is a cross-up maniac while on it. 
 

Part of what’s making me want to play Carnage is 1) it’s Carnage and 2) the animations and art are crazy town

Glad that there's an open beta for this. Just not sure about it right now but being able to play a presumably fairly mature version of the game close to release will help with that

This game is doing the dumb thing again where, on PC, cause of the PSN account requirement people in certain countries can't buy it where such services aren't currently active

I thought they stopped doing this, but I guess all they stopped doing was selling games on PC, except this one.

Sony really are the worst they’ve been in decades. This is why we needed a strong Xbox, keep this company in check

There's something about it that almost feels, call it a hot take, but a bit xenophobic in how easily overlooked some of these territories are cause they're outside the anglosphere and Sony are so stubborn on this point. Like, a PSN account doesn't matter. Come up with a different system ffs, I was playing PSN and Xbox people on my steam on Avatar over the weekend. I refuse to believe this is a complicated problem to solve, although it's probably not the developers themselves making this decision I'm sure

 

Like, Pakistan is one of the countries that doesn't get Tokon. I remember watching a video about these Tekken players from Pakistan and what a big deal that game is there. Every country in the world has a fighting game community

 

Edit, also, Ms Marvel being Pakistani adds an extra layer of cruel irony here

 

Like, can't these account systems just be an identity provider to Tokon's online matchmaking? I hope people complain loudly about this constantly up to release, cause of its genre and what it does for access

It’s really shit and no excuse for it. For some reason they seem to be prioritising log-ins and data over dollars. There is the idea that for company wide policies you can’t make exceptions, but why PSN log in is necessary on PC to begin with becomes the core issue. Maybe there is some legal thing they’re protecting themselves from like, I dunno, you get malware or scammed in their game and not logged in so they couldn’t protect you. I dunno. But there needs to be a new method instead of excluding people

 

The whole point of putting multiplayer games on PC is to expand the audience and give the game a healthier community. So to then ban 100+ countries over a log-in is defeating the point

I think it's something more like they have PSN set up as the source of truth for online authentication, and therefore everything flows through that. Doubt there's any legal aspect to it beyond Sony published stuff having it as a bullet point to integrate with PSN.

 

For a fighting game though, it's so shit. Just anti-accessibility caused by sheer bloody mindedness.

 

Anyway, I hope they sort it out. Justin Wong was talking about it on twitter as well (screenshot not a link)

The Promoter and Champion are bosses in the single player mode, which means they’ll be playable in the main game 

 

 

Also Kieron Gillan writing the story is cool. I really like his comics. Not sure he’ll be able to work much magic with a fighting game story, but still a nice get and good for a comic writer to get work

They gave my boy everything lol. Projectiles, parries, lariats, mobility, traps, full screen lows, command grabs haha. The only thing he didn’t get was a good theme song, this music blows

I hope we see some cool shit from that open beta. I don't think I'll play the beta (cause of Avatar) but as someone who likes zoners I'm not too hype for this zoner. They need to start showing some cooler player expression imo, so I guess the beta will do that.
