I never played the original but it's one of those games where everyone who likes it really likes it so I'm open to be converted.

 

Seems odd they're releasing it so close to Mario Kart, tho

The first one got panned by critics back in the day IIRC, and I think it was auto-accelerate that put me off giving it a shot. 

 

Not a particularly exciting announcement I think, but on the plus side it shows that Sakurai can just do whatever he wants now, so hopefully he's not locked into Smash for eternity anymore.

I am ashamed to say it but I don't remember knowing this even existed!
I'm not too sure what to expect, but I hope to enjoy it as much as Diddy Kong Racing!

never wanted the original when it came out as above i don't think it got good reviews, but a few years ago was playing some gamecube stuff and got more into kirby more recently so wanted to try it but it was super expensive so didn't. so yeah will be up for giving this a go... although if the price is too high i don't know

I watched the beginning and end. Seems neat, but not really excited about it. Actually I think the racing is the coolest part, but this is much more of a multiplayer battle and mini game thing from what I saw.

 

20th November release date. I might pick it up. See how I feel at the time

Left me as cold as the first one unfortunately. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of stuff in there and I can kind of see why people liked that city mode so much in the original, but like you I'd only be interested in the racing part but it doesn't look like 80 bucks (physical) worth of racing to me.

 

It's a good first year kind of game though. Nobody would have cared about this in 2030.

KAR looks sweet. Wasn’t expecting much from it but yeah I’m on board. Stylistically very smash bros racing. 
 

It’ll be £40 digitally from Japan. £58 here.

I have not watched this and don't plan to because it's one hour long, but at the very beginning they show a top-down racing game mode, Micro Machines style, that looks really cool. Overall my impressions haven't changed, everything about the racing seems decent but I have no interest in the whole City mayhem. Will have to wait and see whether picking it up is going to be worth it if one doesn't plan to engage with a big part of the package.

I saw a bit of it on my lunch break but turned it off as just lost interest

 

The coolest bit to me is the racing. It looks like it has lots of energy. But they focus so much on every other part, which to me look low quality like some of the Smash Bros mini games (obviously shared a lot of designers from Smash using familiar sound FX and overall look reminds me of those mini games as well)

 

But also I get this is a 2 button racing game. So making it that the whole package is probably difficult 

 

I dunno. I’m at the point where I would give this the big miss. Unless something happens where it gets an insane critic score and maybe that peaks interest. But just can’t see enjoying this at all

Cool that you can choose how the screen is split, this is nice. 
TBH, it does seem like (for what looks like an incredibly basic racing game), they are going all out and I want to love it just for this!
Plus, it looks soooo smoooooth!

I really just want a proper racing game but for some weird reason, I am warming to this - I'll likely do the same, see what the reviews say.

Half watching this at work with it in the background. The racing looks so fun! I might buy it 1) because it’s Nintendo and 2) because the racing looks legit.

 

I still don’t really care about the rest of the package but 18 tracks and lots of modes around the racing + being a new experience. I don’t think I’ve played a racing game that plays like this. I’m thinking I’ll get it overall

@Pikman No, it's the same thing, I just couldn't remember the officiel nomenclature.

 

It's cool there's a demo though, I never played the original so I can't really judge whether it feels too passive for me with auto-accelerate or not.

Yeah, I'm really pleased about it too. I have no idea if I will like it (same reasons) and it will be great to try and maybe (although I said I wouldn't do this again) pre-order a game...
