mmmark Posted January 2 Author Posted January 2 I’ve played this a lot more and have finished the Egyptian section. It’s wild that after that Spoiler the Himalayas and Shanghai levels are totally linear 20 minute levels. Its not a complaint and is actually fitting with the movies. Ive had problems using repair kits, I think I’ve only successfully used one once. I end up just giving up and finding melee weapon. Indiana will just have the bag out with his hand hovering over it. I’ve pressed X on the kit, RT, A.. tried selecting the gun first… I'm sure I’ll be back in a few hours calling myself an idiot but could I f get it to work. 1
Nag Posted January 2 Posted January 2 In regards repair kits have your bag open and go over to the weapon (not the kit) if you have a kit and the weapon is busted you should have the option of using one. @mmmark
mfnick Posted January 4 Posted January 4 & done. Thank God for that. It did have moments of greatness. About 2/3rds through it had a couple of much more focused linear levels & not long after an extended climbing and platforming section in and around a temple. I really enjoyed these parts. The 2 linear levels were particularly impressive Uncharted lite experiences. More of that instead of all the stealthing, generic open world shite, tedious getting about (especially in the 3rd area) and bad boss battles. I would have loved this. AV wise it stayed consistently brilliant throughout & the cut scenes were really entertaining. But mainly it was just a fucking slog to get through. Don’t know why I did to be honest. Just felt I had to for some reason. 6/10 Hope the success of this doesn’t stop them making Wolfenstein 3. I fucking adored the last 2. I’d be gutted if they didn’t finish it off. 2
Maf Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Unless something radically changes (maybe tariffs 👀) this might be the last saving grace for Xbox
Maf Posted April 6 Posted April 6 Despite all my shit talk I’ve really been enjoying this. I just got the lighter and half way through the Sphinx temple in Egypt. I’ve just had to stop because playing on PC my back is killing me. I’ve got so unfit again I can;t even sit up unsupported for long stretches It’s a game that on paper I should absolutely dislike. And I can’t even really say what I like about it. I think it’s a mix of it’s very easy and the objectives in missions are paced well mixed with side objectives/collectibles being laid out neatly in between the running from point to point. It’s just well made in that way, and easy to play + easy to keep the momentum buoyant with nicely spaced out rewards, upgrades, etc I do think the first person everything is kind of rubbish. The fighting feels bad, the whip swinging/climbing feels bad, the way Indy’s arms and hands move in front of him always looks weird and disconnected. I really feel like I’m a camera with hands. But again I think it’s so easy. Just run in to a camp, hide behind a corner, wait for the enemies to line up, knock them down until one has a gun and shoot the rest. It’s like what if the game was mechanically bad but it was such a non-obstacle it doesn’t matter? There’s that critical part that wants to complain about it because almost objectively I think it has bad mechanics but I keep playing it because I like finding medicine bottles, solving puzzles and taking pictures + the characters and cutscenes are starting to grow on me
Maf Posted April 21 Posted April 21 Reached the Asia map after a couple of set piece bits. Still liking it. Still find it to be a kind of 7/10 oddity. I still think if this game was 3rd person and had a lot of QoL improvements it would be much better. As it stands it's just this odd little AAA game that makes no sense to me at all There's almost a novelty aspect to it all that keeps me liking it, however I hope this is the last big map. Between this and many games I've played lately, man do I miss video games that don't prioritise animation at all. I just want to cancel everything in to everything. If I press a button, I want it to work immediately. I don't care how stupid it looks. Trying to think of the last game I played that truly felt responsive and I didn't constantly get fucked up because I can't get out of the thing I'm currently doing Weirdly in this game it's picking things up and using consumables. Just do the thing, Indy! For fucks sake! Stop showing off how you move your hands
