I managed to grab hold of the Wehrmacht Disguise in Gizah last night, that thing helps out a ton with being able to move around much more freely in restricted areas. Helps a lot in terms of smacking people in the back of the head too.

My biggest gripe with the game so far is I'll eat a load of fruit for a stamina boost and then instantly waste it all by running to the next destination... and to be honest if that's my biggest moan it's doing OK.

Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. I just had an amazing time playing this game. Kind of what I was saying before, how I see why people like it but it’s kind of basic. I stand by that. Nothing I just played was like crazy in terms of mechanics/activities. But all of it was incredibly good fun. I meant to turn the game off 2 hours ago, and instead couldn’t put it down until I got to the end of the Necropolis part and returned the thing to the guy

I won’t go through everything that happened because, though this map is open, the options appear to be quite linear. There’s like at most only ever 2 ways to do things so there’s no point talking about that stuff. But I can say I suppose is I’ve been playing it very loosely. Like, I’m not trying to play this “well” at all I am just walking in to places, knocking everyone out, stacking the bodies high, and just treating it like the dumbest video game. And it’s kind of been really fun to play it like I don’t give a shit. The last thing I did was find a secluded, restricted area with 3 guards. I couldn’t really see a good way to approach. So I said fuck it. I jumped off the roof right on to one of the guy’s head, killed him immediately and just started swinging on the other 2.

The absolute best thing that happened was I was saving the kid from the prison cell. I got there by sneaking under the cabin and climbing in through a floor hatch. I was wandering around knocking people out and picking stuff up. I went through a door that lead outside, a guard was right there, I quickly just walked backwards in to the cabin, the door didn’t even open the whole way, but he’s alert thing went red immediately so he follows me as I walked backwards. I went back in to the room with the floor hatch, the first thing I saw was a mop, he walked in through the door and I just hit him with the mop straight away, he got immediately knocked out, flew across the room and down the fucking floor hatch!

it was so perfect!

I was like why does PC not have quick “record that” button because that was amazing!

It was just one of those things where that one moment was so perfect it immediately made me like the game so much more. And then as I was saying earlier I just proceeded through 2 or 3 story missions and was just having a really good time. As I was saying previously it just has really solid gameplay. It’s not like incredible or innovative or anything. But it just all became really good fun. And now I’m going to be late for work tomorrow because I couldn’t stop playing it

Based on my understanding of Indy that just sounds like how it's supposed to be

Also pc does have that button, just set up OBS in the background (but lets not get into it in this thread)

That’s like, cool guy don’t give a fuck. I’ve been playing it more like dumb guy don’t give a fuck. But it’s really worked in finding enjoyment in the game until the actual intended parts of the game became enjoyable for me as well. If that makes sense

Glad someone's enjoying it @Maf. I put it on today and couldn't be arsed playing it.

I walked around a bit, got a location marker for a quest which, to get to, needed a big load of creeping about thru a nazi encampment - and then I just reach for the off button.

I don't think it's for me.

is that the excavation site at the Vatican? Here’s the secret: sneaking is not required

TBH sneaking isn't particularly required in a number of cases - you can just hard fight a whole bunch of baddies with little or no consequence (gameplay definitely a lot dumber than Hitman or Dishonored).

Nah, I was later than that. I just wasn't enjoying it. I also think the gameplay is a bit silly in the stealth/combat (see @shinymcshine's post above) and low grade in the puzzling. For instance, there's a mirror/light puzzle somewhere along the line and, sure, it's been done to death in Zelda, uncharted etc, but that didn't bother me until it revealed itself to be 'baby's first light puzzle.'

I mean I don't want to be scratching my head for hours, and I realise this is meant for movie fans as well as gamers, so I wasn't expecting St Francis' folly but bloody hell!

Edit... not sure why I even wrote this, I was hammered last night... apologies. 😂

Don't worry about. I honestly saw it as  some kind of tentative proletariat insurgency against the master race, hastily abandoned. I suppose it's something I'll have get used to.

Well I’ve played it 3 times. 2 times thought it was boring 1 time had amazing fun. So not sure how it will go next time when I play it, but I totally get finding it boring because I’ve experienced that with the game, too

I'm in Sukhothai now (the final open area of the game) after Gizeh there are two or three sections that are straight, story oriented segments... one that results in something I definitely wasn't expecting to be doing in the game.

I've loved every minute so far, I think it may be because I don't really play many of this style game and also the nostalgia factor is hitting hard (so much so I watched Raiders last night 😊)... the light weight puzzling and combat is just enough for me, I don't have time in my gaming life nowadays to waste 45 minutes trying work out some obscure conundrum or trying to pass one combat encounter.

I will say that the game has pretty much zero replay potential after finishing but as single shot game it's been an unexpectedly (for me at least) great experience.

Played for over 15 hrs, still in Gizeh, but I'm not too sure I can be bothered with it anymore - it's gameplay loop is pretty repetitive, and if anything they exhausted it with the Vatican area begin way too big - so now rather than having a pacy exciting adventure ahead - the Gizeh area seems just more of the same but with a sandy veneer.

It's feeling all a bit dull.

I think the tipping point was investigating a tomb, going back and having to find a seal to open the door, opening door, then having to go back to find a light source (as like a seasoned explorer would never think that it might just be dark underground......) FFS, then doing some lame 'puzzles', it's just not challenging or that much fun.

I played some more and got up to Gizeh. I’m still having a lot of fun with it.

Doing all the underground fire puzzles really shows off the PC version’s full RT in an amazing way. I’m starting to think this has some of the best graphics I’ve ever seen, tbh.

For me I find the game play really silly. Particularly when running crisscross over a map doing random things and solving different mysteries. It’s so cartoony and video gamey in a way that betrays the look and idea of the game. I also still don’t understand why the game is 1st person when all the game does is cut to 3rd person so often. A lot of this game is picking things up and looking at it, so if it was 3rd person it would be have to be a completely different game, but (and no I’ve never seen the films) the game they’ve made doesn’t seem very Indiana jones anyway.

It’s like they tried to mesh this licence with what they know as game devs. And I’m not complaining too hard. I am still enjoying it. But there is something “off” about this game.

I’m not sure what it is about the game I enjoy, really. It might be the case of the sum is greater than the parts. I am still liking it a lot, though. Indy is starting to grow on me, too.

I just agro'd a whole load of enemies at the Vatican... ran in to the place where all the Priests and Nuns are and then pummelled everyone who came in after me, there must've been close to 20 unconscious enemies in there at the end... it was hilarious. 😂

I've started this now @Nag 😄

There was a bit where I was exploring, tried climbing on to a roof and Indy slid off, right next to a nazi with a dog. That felt pretty accurate for the films. Shame Indy has tuberculosis, which they've not mentioned in the plot yet, but I presume that's why he has absolutely 0 stamina

I might be done with this already. I've got to the end of the fight against a tomb full of Nazis twice, died because I don't have a melee weapon, and get put back to do the whole thing again.

I've not uninstalled it, just in case I get the urge, but I don't like the combat, I don't like how much shite is on the dpad, and I can't say I've been moved either way by the puzzles I've done so far. We'll see, maybe in a couple of days the mood will take me
