Battlefield 6

EA had an investor day and announced that the next instalment will be going back to basics seen in bf3 and 4, its most popular outings. They seemed to not even acknowledge the 2042 lacklustre response was all on them and that if it had launched the state it’s now in I’m sure it’d done great but whatever.

Ahead of its Investor Day on September 17, EA revealed fresh details on its untitled Battlefield game alongside its first officially concept art, which IGN can exclusively reveal for the first time. IGN can also confirm that Battlefield will be returning to a modern setting after stints in World War I, World War II, and the near future.

While EA is cagey about specifics when it comes to the concept art, including declining to name of the city where its set (though it looks a lot like Italy, France, or somewhere else in Europe), it does include details that should stand out to longtime fans of the series. Among other things, it appears to suggest that ship-to-ship and helicopter combat will be part of the new game, and that it will feature natural disasters like wildfires. Its greyish color scheme is evocative of Battlefield 4, which remains one of the most popular games in the series despite being released a decade ago.

They also showed some ai game building thing to be mad about. It made something very generic and then they typed in “make it epic” and it just made a big pyramid 🥱

I just read the other day that Criterion is making the campaign, so it seems we're getting Black 2 after all. Kind of interested to see how that mode pans out.

Yes, the first video above shows them and the other 3 studios talk about their input.

I played a bit of the beta. It's not my type of game, I'm sure it's fine. The modes are all zone related, I'm not sure whether I prefer the huge scale maps or the smaller ones, neither are quite right for me. I also find with this sort of thing, the game looking so good can be a detriment. It runs well on my PC, which you'd hope tbf, but I mean more the dust and debris make it hard to pick people out

This is a lot of fun! Bear in mind I’ve not played a Battlefield online since BC2 but I’m enjoying this a lot. Only issue I have so far are the maps all feel very similar with little distinguishing features. I think with how graphics are these days it’s nowhere near as readable and clear what’s going on as it used to be either.

Still, having fun. Be up for some games over the weekend if anyone else is too.
