there was a point last night where I was seeing the posts and just assuming Elon had written them using the Grok handle.  I suspect he's actually told it to only look on certain forums, or to write its answers like someone who posts there

 

It's basically why billionaires shouldn't be allowed to 1. happen 2. own anything that isn't material (cars, houses) 3. continue to be billionaires in whatever form that action takes

TBH the last time I had NHS Physio it was a 5 min phone call 'consultation' and then some exercise sheets through the post - so there's probably not much difference in doing it all online - esp. if the service can be offered more quickly to more people.

 

Only question is - where is the "AI" that's being used here, or is it just a straightforward Q&A algorithm which directs to certain conclusions and recommended actions / exercises ?

 

i.e. is it essentially just an enhanced version of the NHS self diagnosis & treatment app, provided by a third party,  but branded as AI as that sounds cool and modern.

Though the internet has a tendency to amplify things and make stuff like this seem more widespread than they are, but I did see comments like this myself on the subreddit for chatGPT, how they are grieving the old model going away cause it was like their companion/therapist etc

I’m trying to clear old accounts transactions at work and some were a bit difficult so I thought I’d ask ChatGPT. lol it doesn’t even understand the questions 

 

I asked something about a returned BACS payment and it was like “Got it, so you have a debit on the supplier account” 

 

And every time I tried to say no, the opposite of that,  it kept going “Ah that’s an important detail - So you have a debit on the supplier account” 

 

I gave up.
 

I think it was getting confused with a credit in Trade Creditors vs the supplier account but after 10mins I was like whatever. I will just do what I think instead

I think a lot of promises made about AI are not coming to fruition, and a lot of the stuff you read about these weird circular financing schemes between the big tech companies make it sounds a bit sub-prime-mortgagey. Like AI will cause job losses, not cause of the potential of the technology but cause of a financial crash.

Maybe. It could be a short term fallout because there’s so much money being pumped in to the business but is it making any money yet? Outside of Microsoft’s Azure, I suppose, which looking up Xbox stuff I saw that’s their biggest money maker and it uses AI? But I know very little

 

But apart from that. Kind of feels like, right now, it’s a trillion dollar party trick

There's a lot of images like this around. I don't totally understand it but it looks fucky, and if AGI doesn't materialise then it could be a big crash

 

 

As I understand it, AGI is the version of AI which can reason like a human, whereas what we currently have is a tool that predicts what token/word to generate next when you ask it things, but doesn't actually "know" anything.
