The thing is that the publisher, Square Enix, didn't shut down the studio. Tencent did. SE's hands are tied here, it was outsourced contract work with a Tencent subsidiary, they have no say about their fate.

I don't see how the people who made the game won't be getting their due royalties as usual. 

 

I still get royalties from recordings I was involved in decades ago, published by companies long since defunct.

I would think they're paid to the studio, right? Same way if you moved jobs you wouldn't get the bonus. 

 

Anyway, I've retracted it now. It was more a general point about the industry, but I accept this isn't the same as whatever previous game was
