Nigel Tufnell
Not news as it was shown a while back, thought i would make a thread for it, enjoyed the first game which came out in 2011, doesn't take long to complete and worth a play through for some mindless shooting and hack and slash fun.
DANGERMAN
yeah, I played through the first game a few times. I think the performances really help it, especially early on when the game is less interesting. If they make the gameplay more engaging and keep the tone, it could be really good
AndyKurosaki
First game was a lot of fun. I wasn’t expecting it to get a sequel. But I’m definitely up for this.

DANGERMAN
I don't know how good a game it will be, but it certainly looks good, really well animated

DANGERMAN
I'd rather it come out and be good, there's a lot counting against it, but I like the original enough I want this to be good
Nag
Apparently the new release date is set to be announced in December... so I'm guessing this'll be showing up at the game awards.
Maf
Here’s a 6 minute look at the game. It looks spectacular in terms of graphics. Definitely a PC game for me, I think. I checked and it isn’t using UE5, either, so hopefully the PC version is good I played about half of the first game last year and quite liked it but it felt very dated. Even by the standards of a X360 3rd person shooter it was super basic and shallow. This game looks largely the same with some nice new additions here and there, but these graphics and set pieces look amazing and what’s really selling me on it. Just a big, meaty, gritty, gorgeous, heavy action shooter looks good to me
shinymcshine
Adjacent to this - Owlcat's Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader (isometric RPG) came out a few months ago, but got lost in the bow wave of the BG3 love-in, but it got some decent reviews. https://www.ign.com/articles/warhammer-40000-rogue-trader-review
Nag
I'm really looking forward to Space Marine... as in really looking forward to it. Sounds like a real meaty package of a game too with all the modes included.
Maf
Me, too. Think I’ll reinstall the first one on Steam and play through the second half

Maf
There’s a pre-order here for the PS5 version for £50. Less if use a code. https://www.thegamecollection.net/warhammer-40000-space-marine-2-ps5-33428?tduid=c700f51412cbc982516c17f765922f05&utm_source=tradedoubler&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=td Not advertising for pre-orders but think it’s cool that it’s another - what I still consider - to be a normally priced game. It could say a lot about the length or the content of the game, but it’s nice to see maybe there are publishers out there that aren’t completely mental and have better pricing and expectations of what they can sell a game for
Nag
I'd imagine it would be cheaper to buy with the Game Pass discount though?... that's kind've what I'm thinking depending how the multi-player feels.
DANGERMAN
The pc requirements are out. Interestingly PC Gamer says they're surprisingly low, and I suppose they are, but if they're accurate a GTX1060 on low gets you 30fps at 1080p. It's an old card but I'm a little surprised that's 30fps. On the other end, the recommended is an RTX3070 on Ultra. That gets you 60fps at 1080p. Combined that's why I'm a little surprised at PC Gamer's story, not that it's a crazy build required or anything, and presumably High settings will help the resolution, just struck me as odd for their headline Minimum (1920x1080, 30 fps, low graphics preset) Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system OS: Windows 10/11 64-bit Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X / Intel Core i5-8600K Memory: 8 GB RAM Graphics: 6 GB VRAM, AMD Radeon RX 580 / Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 DirectX: Version 12 Storage: 75 GB available space Recommended (1920x1080, 60 fps, ultra graphics preset) Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system OS: Windows 10/11 64-bit Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X / Intel Core i7-12700 Memory: 16 GB RAM Graphics: 8 GB VRAM, AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT / Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 DirectX: Version 12 Storage: 75 GB available space https://www.pcgamer.com/games/third-person-shooter/warhammer-40000-space-marine-2-system-requirements-are-out-and-you-probably-wont-need-to-buy-a-new-pc-to-play-it/
Maf
Do 3070’s support DLSS? Maybe they upscale 1080 to 4K. Otherwise yeah drop ultra to high-medium and play 1440p. 1080p 🤮 I didn’t realise we gaming in the 1970’s over here

Specs some times are weirdly conservative too
